Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 131

Viz leaped out of the wall and it crumbled behind him.

“You scaly little bastard!”

The half-blooded stranger shook his head.

“I may not have my memories but my mind is much clearer now and I know this Half-blood you keep referring to me as is not a compliment.”

Viz’s rage fell quickly but he was still somewhat pissed.

“Heh, It was never supposed to be a compliment. So you felt insulted, cry about it little bitch.”

Viz rushed forward like a mighty mountain. His fist rushed out with a force untold. The half-blood was not stupid. This punch was too much for him to handle head-on. With a side step he tried to avoid it but Viz’s power was too much and the force coming off of his fist still caught the half-blood.

*BANG!*

The force of the blow slammed into the half-blood and this time it was him who flew backward. Before he hit the wall behind him, a pair of fleshy wings sprouted out of his back, and with a flap of them, the air pressure was forcibly changed and he stopped mid-flight. The place where Viz’s force had landed upon his face had left no mark as there were scales made of dense ice armor protecting him. After a fraction of a second, this icy scale armor cracked and shattered revealing his undamaged face.

Viz and Kazuki both took notice.

(At the last possible second this man created armor to cover his flesh and it took the force of Viz’s blow. Nice. A quick-reacting armor, I wonder how it was made if he cannot recall any memories. Could it be muscle memory or is it simply survival instinct? Either way, it’s clear that he’s fought in the past. Even without any memories, it is clear he has some skill. That armor is pretty impressive and it will most likely be able to withstand an average God but against Viz, that’s a different story.)

As the two continued to fight, it was obvious who had the advantage. The half-blood had skill and with his armor and natural strength he was formidable but when compared with Viz he was completely outmatched and outclassed. Viz was strong, unbelievably so and he was a brute to match. The longer this fight on, the more Kazuki understood why so many Gods in Gauldriss feared Viz. He was just simply unbelievable. Strength, speed, aura, magic, he seemed to have no equal.

More and more of the half-bloods icy scale armor fell away or shattered under Viz’s might and he was covered in wounds. There was an expression of wanting and anger at the fact he was losing but there was nothing he could do.

Kazuki had seen enough.

“Ok, that’s more than enough. Viz you as well, the half-blood can take no more.”

The half-blood glared at Kazuki and Viz’s aura spread out and forced the half-blood to the ground.

“You dare look at your master as if you wish to kill him!”

Kazuki waved him away.

“Stop it Viz. I made a mistake first.”

Viz was annoyed but he relented. After pounding the half-blood into the ground repeatedly and shedding the man’s scales and blood, Viz felt satisfied to some extent. With a thought, he released the half-blood from his aura.

Kazuki had recalled Bozek at this moment. The man was a half-blood dragon like the stranger kneeling before him.

“I should not have called you a half-blood and neither should Viz. Being called or labeled something due to factors outside of one’s control is infuriating, no?”

The half-blood’s glare softened slightly and he nodded.

“Yes. I don’t remember why but when I’m called that, for some reason it makes my blood boil and I just want to rip things apart and sink my fangs into flesh. I…I should not have stared at you like that Master, sorry.”

Kazuki shrugged.

“It’s understandable but don’t you have some qualms about someone like me being the master of someone like you? A God lowering thier head to some 7th stage brat, now that must really induce some…thoughts.”

The half-blood shook his head.

“NO…I mean, no. The constant and brutal torture I felt. The experience of losing everything little by little before my very eye and knowing I could not stop it. It was as if I was lost in a raging storm in the middle of an ocean. Afloat with a piece of driftwood. The pain and loss, it was like I was being tossed about and at any moment I could be overturned and drowned in the depths of despair. Then in all of it, in the terrible darkness that was my mind, a brilliant light shone through. You were…are that light. I am forever grateful and will serve you until the day I die and my soul is scattered into the void.”

This time, the half-blood voluntarily lowered his head in respect.

Kazuki hated seeing someone bow before him. If enemies did it, he might consider it funny but an ally doing it felt disgusting for some reason.

“Get up. I don’t need words of flattery.”

Viz laughed.

“Heh, such flowery words, no wonder why your fists felt so weak.”

The half-blood stood up but he clenched his fist after hearing Viz’s teasing. Viz was not one to back down and took a step forward. A smirk spread across his face as he goaded the half-blood.

“Oh, have my words offended you? Come and get yourself another beating. I have plenty of time to thrash you all over my castle.”

“Viz, come on already. You two have fought and it was his loss. To keep teasing at this time only lowers what you have already accomplished.”

Viz raised a questioning brow.

“How in the 7 Realm of Hell does my teasing lower what I’ve done? The strong have the right, and the duty to brag over those who could not measure up. That is the world we live in.”

Kazuki did not deny that.

“True, everyone has bragging rights when they beat others but I would say this only rings true when you face someone near your level. Someone who is close to being your equal. Beating someone who is not far off from you or even stronger than you. That is something worth bragging about but to do so when your opponent is so much weaker than you. That just becomes bullying the weak at that point. It would be like me bragging after I have stepped on an ant. You would look at me as if I was a fool would you not? The same applies here right?”

Viz was annoyed but he couldn’t refute this.

“Whatever, It’s still my win.”

Kazuki laughed inwardly while the half-blood did not like being compared to an ant.

“You don’t like what I said but I am not wrong. You want to be treated differently but your situation is not one where you can be treated in such a way. I’m not referring to your slave status but rather your own strength is what holds you down. Even if you were free, you would still be no match for Viz and he would still see you as a weakling. At the same time, I will not treat you badly. For starters, since you cannot recall your name, I’ll have to give you something temporarily so others don’t refer to you as half-blood. Do you have any ideas in mind for a name?”

The half-blood stared blankly for a moment as nothing came to him. He really wished his own name would appear but no matter how hard he thought, it just did not come.

“I…I have nothing.”

“Your soul is healed but the memories won’t return. Artifacts are too mysterious. For now, something simple should do. How about…Kori. It means Ice.”

The half-blood didn’t hate the name though he did find it to be a tad lazy. In the end, though he couldn’t come up with anything better.

“That…Is fine I guess.”

“You guess. Jentson is your master, fine, not fine, it is of no concern to you. You are Kori and that’s that or shall I go back to calling you half-blood?”

Viz was just trying to get under Kori’s skin but Kori was not dimwitted. he was understanding his situation more and more as the seconds passed. He ignored Viz entirely and thanked Kazuki.

“It is a splendid name Master. Thank you.”

Kazuki laughed seeing Kori not give Viz the reaction he wanted.

“Viz, it looks like Kori here isn’t playing your game, hehe.”

Viz gave Kori a cold look when Marty came in.

“Jentson what in the 7 Realms of hell was all that about?”

Kazuki gave her a quick rundown about the light in the sky, the Gods gathering, and the small skirmish that had just shaken the castle. After hearing all of that, the only thing she took from it was.

“Viz, why are ya such a player? We’ve already got so many enemies but your little soldier is gonna get is in even more trouble if ya ain’t careful.”

Kazuki slapped his own forehead hearing this. Marty didn’t care about Signy’s movements and purchasing of hundreds of slaves nor Lestirius’s confrontation. No, she was only concerned about the number of women vying for Viz’s attention.

Viz sighed before ignoring Marty completely and walking away. It seems there was one woman that could leave even him speechless.
