Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 140
Everything was now set up. Each stall, table booth, and so on. With it, Kazuki, Viz, Kori, and Samuel all stood at the ready. Mei, Kosaru, and Marty were there to help if need be while all of the servants were busy with their own work.
Samuel looked to Kazuki and Kazuki simply gave him a nod. Samuel took a deep breath before giving an order.
“Right, open the gate, and let’s begin.”
Two of the servants who were waiting on standby next to the front gate. With their Master’s order, they opened it and quickly got out of the way as a flood of people came rushing in.
One after another individuals and groups from Factions came in and went straight for the Infinity blades sitting out. Before anyone had a chance to grab one of the mysterious swords though, Viz released his aura and a heavy pressure filled the courtyard. Everyone paused in their tracks and Viz spoke a single word.
“Line.”
With that, everyone no matter who or where they were from, without question formed an orderly line, and one by one they came forward. Viz pulled his aura back and smiled. He knew what was coming and he couldn’t wait to see everyone’s reactions.
Just like he thought, the moment a few reached the front, they were bewildered at the prices, and audible gasps spread throughout the line. Even those that were far away could easily see the prices from here and they were shocked reading the signs.
[1,000,000,000] Divine crystals for one sword.
[1,850,000,000] Divine crystals for two swords.
[2,700,000,000] Divine crystals for three swords.
When they saw this, several people fumed and they could not hold their tongues.
“BILLIONS, IT SAYS BILLIONS FOR TWO FREAKING SWORDS!”
“OUTRAGEOUS! NO WAY WILL I PAY SUCH A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT!”
Complaints and rumbles ran through the crowd nonstop. Samuel though was already prepared for this and so to was Kazuki.
Kazuki took a step into the sky and many people were taken aback. Flying in the sky was strictly prohibited for mortals yet he dared be so bold. They understood that Viz could protect him but for Kazuki to be so rash and outlandish, he was pushing the envelope far too much in their eyes. Kazuki ignored these looks and took the Infinity Blade from his hip and held it firmly in his grip.
Everyone curiously looked up at him and they all went quiet in anticipation. Some in the crowd had seen the sword’s power but most had only heard rumors of it and understood that he was about to demonstrate its power. A few doubters felt this would not live up to the hype. After all, they had never seen a magic weapon that was capable of such destruction unless it was a Divine soul weapon.
Some were already about to turn away and leave. They had only come because of slight curiosity but this all looked like a stupid game and foolish waste of time.
Before any could question the blade any further, Kazuki moved his energy into the blade and with a single hand he swung it down with a bit of effort.
*WHOOOOOSH!*
A powerful torrent of wind swirled around and formed a storm. The storm spread out in every direction and threatened to kill every here that was below the 7th stage. Many people were shocked beyond compare and several tried to counter this attack or defend themselves but it was not enough. This raging storm tore through any and all of their defenses. It made their attacks falter before vanishing them into the void.
Just as this attack was about to kill them, Viz raised his hand and closed his fist shut. The storm was obliterated and went out with a loud explosion.
The entire city fell silent for a single moment before everyone in the courtyard erupted in wild fervor.
Outside of the courtyard, this display of power caused all of the mortals not in the know to become panicked. A few Gods curiously looked over towards Viz but seeing it was him they grumbled for a moment before turning their attention away. This whole affair did in fact attract two familiar Gods to the scene.
In the sky, arriving at nearly the exact same time was none other than Sasha and Tessa. One arrived in a puff of smoke, the other a beam of golden light.
As soon as they arrived they saw Viz and waved at him simultaneously. Viz’s eyes began to roll and he felt an incoming headache.
“Sasha, do you have some business here? If not, please leave before you bother me and Viz’s close time.”
Sasha laughed but behind her laughter was a vicious nature.
“You and Viz are not one so don’t act like you have that kind of relationship. As for my business, well that’s none of your concern. Besides, when it comes to me and you, the choice for Viz is obvious. A sultry Goddess like myself or a tall giant of a woman with too much fat on her chest.”
Sasha’s insult brought out the claws and both she and Tessa were ready to fight right there and then in the sky.
“Enough, the two of you are growing ever annoying. Bother me no more as you are becoming eyesores.”
Viz’s words stung and the two’s rage cooled off and they quickly flew down with similar thoughts. They were seemingly undeterred by his brutal put-downs.
He saw them landed and became perplexed.
“I thought I said for you two to leave. What do you think you are doing?”
Tessa smiled teasingly before walking to the front of the line.
“Maybe I am an eyesore but surely you wouldn’t turn down a paying customer now would you?”
After her, Sasha immediately rushed to the front next to Tessa and added on.
“I as well am a paying customer and the customer is always right. I’m not leaving until I am satisfied…as a customer of course, hehe.”
Viz was flabergasted. Rarely did someone defy him and when they did, he usually killed them but Tessa was right.
Viz couldn’t help but Glance at Kazuki.
(Give me a reason, any at all so that I can send these women away.)
(Viz I don’t understand why you are always so cold to the two of them. If you showed them an ounce of affection to either one, surely your dreams of leaving this city could have been fulfilled long ago. After aa, one owns the entire slave market and the other is racking in a third of the profits from the arena. What is it that you don’t like about them?)
(You should know by now I am one who likes my freedom. Do you think either one of them would pay to let me leave? The moment they sink their claws into me, even I have a feeling it would be difficult to escape. In my eyes, both of them are not looking for a man but a toy to play around with. I want my freedom, they only wish to keep me on a leash. Not to mention, if I align myself with one or the other, the shift in the power of Gauldriss city would change drastically. My choice could literally lead to war between Factions.)
Kazuki could see Viz’s point but in the end, there was no reason to turn them away.
(So just keep to your path and don’t choose. I don’t care but if they are willing to purchase then they have every right. Just come up with something. At the same time, you should probably be careful.)
(Careful, why?)
Kazuki shrugged.
(Women can be strangely vengeful especially if they feel their emotions have been played with. Knowing how Gods act and react, the damage could be catastrophic.)
Kazuki found it slightly funny and hypocritical of himself to even think such thoughts but he relayed what he knew and tried to help Viz steer clear of any future chaos that his side fencing may bring.
(Your advice is useless. As you see they are starting to not listen to me. I can’t control them and they know that. What they do, I can only prepare myself for the worst. Hopefully, I am out of this city and off-world by the time the evil comes to fruition.)
The way Viz said it, it sounded like a disaster was unpreventable and the only option was to run away before they went crazy. Kazuki could only sigh inwardly because in his mind Viz wasn’t exactly wrong.
“I don’t care if you’re paying customers or not, if you cause a disturbance then I will deal with you both. Understood?”
Sasha and Tessa both nodded along happily and at the same time, they both agreed.
“Yes.”
The two looked at the prices and didn’t even bat an eye. They both handed a ring to Viz one after the other.
Viz opened it and confirmed several Billon Divine Crystal piled as high as a mountain were inside and he smiled inwardly.
(Maybe I can get them to buy more!)
