Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 151
It was a mass slaughter. Kazuki and his group moved like a swath of locus out for their meal. They were a dangerous plague that swept through their enemies without impediment. Body after body fell from the sky with a rain of blood. Heads exploded, bones shattered and viscera was eviscerated. Not only were these Demigods killed with seemingly no effort but their soul weapons were broken and their souls were broken.
Kazuki who was in the center of all of this, thanks to his soul-reading ability, these souls was absorbed by his left and right. The small amount of damage to his soul, the last bit was slowly but surely healing. He could feel his soul was on the verge of transforming into something unfathomable.
Not just him but Kosaru as well. As those around Kosaru helped kill his enemies, Kosaru would open his mouth wide and eat their Soul weapons. Even though Kazuki had witnessed this once before, to see it again was still insane. If a Soul weapon even penetrated his flesh, his soul would be destroyed, yet this small child could actually eat an entire Divine Soul Weapon and come out completely unharmed.
Kazuki could sense a large amount of power collecting inside of Kosaru and the more he ate these weapons, the more this power grew within him.
(Kosaru, be careful. That Divine energy is not something so easily tamed. Don’t hurt yourself.)
Kosaru smiled.
(Yes big brother! I won’t bring any trouble. Instead, it feels comfortable and warm inside. It feels like if I keep going something good will happen. If you want me to stop though I will.)
Kazuki could not sense any danger but he wasn’t sure.
(Arc, that energy inside Kosaru, is it a threat to him at all?)
Arc extended its power and took a peek.
(That much energy, no. Kosaru is incredibly tough remember? The boy survived an attack from a God. If it’s just that much energy he should be fine. If it gets to be too much, I can step in if need be.)
Kazuki was slightly surprised. Arc was volunteering his help on his own accord.
(Right, thanks.)
(Why thank me. If the boy dies then it will take that much longer to find my missing piece. He can smell Origin energy even better than I can detect it. Losing him would be annoying, to say the least.)
(And there it is.)
Kazuki quickly realized why Arc was looking out for Kosaru. Not that he could blame Arc but still it was somewhat thoughtless yet thoughtful at the same time which was stupid in his opinion.
(Kosaru, you can keep eating those weapons but if it feels uncomfortable or you sense anything is wrong stop immediately and tell me right away, Understand?)
Kosaru nodded.
(Yes big brother.)
After that, they continued slaughtering their enemies. Using their tactic to defend their offensive attackers while the offense went all out on every attack along with Kazuki’s mucus needles protecting everyone from death, they were able to cut through wave after wave of enemy. Hundreds fell by the second and as time trickled on by, that number only increased as their teamwork was completely in synch.
This battle was terrifying for those on the chopping block. No matter what they used, the magic they threw forth, the blades they swung with all their might. Ganging up here or there, distractions, none of it worked on Kazuki’s people.
This caused the already-rooted fear inside to expand even further and many people began to flee from this seemingly unstoppable force. As they ran away in terror, many Gods in the distance felt utter embarrassment and humiliation. These were their Factions and for them to collapse to such a small number was more than disappointing.
With a single wave of their hand, these Gods could slay Kazuki and his group from where they stood but this was not an option. Even if it was easy it was something that would ruin their reputation. It was similar to destroying a Lower Realm. It was the mighty bullying the weak. Those that did so were an embarrassment and it was basically admitting that the little ants have crawled under your skin and become a bother.
Killing an ant here or there, no one would bat an eye but to kill an entire group while the Faction under you was losing this badly, it could only be seen as a disgusting act not befitting of a God.
So although they could kill Kazuki and the others instantly, to do so would make other Gods look down on them. At the same time, they felt no need to kill Kazuki and his group. So what if their entire faction was destroyed? In the end, all of the Demigods and others working beneath them were just that, beneath them and therefore replaceable.
Even if their entire Factions were destroyed it just meant they were too weak and next to that Kazuki and those with him could never do anything to any of these Gods. The outcome in the mind of these Gods was already set in stone. Nothing that happened on Kazuki’s battlefield would impact them in any way shape or form.
It was actually kind of pitiful. These warriors had gone through many trials and tribulations and made it to a level where they were half a foot into Godhood and were loyal to their masters but now, they were being thrown away and were no more than pawns and nothing more. Seeing their leaders not do anything for them while they were being killed left and right, many of them simply gave up.
Some ran away and others just stood there. If they ran they would be killed by their masters anyway. This was disparaging for these fighters but Kazuki did not care. There was no such thing as giving up or surrendering.
“KILL THEM ALL!”
With this command, they did just that. In a matter of minutes, nearly a hundred thousand Demigods fell and they were no more.
When it was all said and done, everyone celebrated with a roaring cheer and they collected their fallen enemies’ storage rings before handing them over to Kazuki.
Afterward, Samuel came up to Kazuki and asked.
“Now what? Kori should be on his way back right? After that are we running?”
Kazuki shook his head.
“We can’t run just yet. Now with them all around.”
Kazuki pointed toward a God that had come close by. Before he said another word, 10 more Gods had surrounded Kazuki and his group from many different angles.
Samuel swallowed hard but he was unafraid. One of the Gods had skin-like leather and eyes made of sand. He wore a fake smile as he complimented Kazuki.
“You are the one in charge. Jentson if I remember correctly. I saw your quick exchange in the arena that day. Impressive for one so small. To think you were still hiding your power to this extent. My Faction and a few others, you managed to fell them with ease. Again, this can be considered impressive for someone of your power.”
Kazuki took a step forward in the air but he did not bow nor show any signs of respect as he addressed this sand bastard.
“It does not matter who comes for me. The results…so far have always been the same and I have a strange feeling that things will continue like that for the foreseeable future.”
This caused the Gods to laugh out loud. Never before have they seen such an insect show no fear before them nor be so bold with his tongue.
“The way you speak, the lack of fear in your eyes, you really believe the words you spew. You actually think it’s possible that there is a way out of this situation. Even if it were just me alone, against all of you, against a million or a billion of you, I would still win but you already know this. Why waste our time with these little games? We know that God buzzing around over there is under your command. summon him and make him hand over the expert craftsman and I will allow you to serve me from henceforth.”
When this sand God bastard said this, a few other Gods stepped forward and complained.
“You wish to monopolize the craftsmen for yourself. Get real Serizus! It ain’t happening.”
A small argument broke out between these Gods and Kazuki smiled. Marty was aware of the plan but she felt some concern.
(Kazuki we can still try and escape right now while they are distracted.)
(No, there is no reason to escape. The plan will work so just have some confidence.)
Marty smiled.
(Confidence, ya think I would have come along this far if ya didn’t have my confidence or trust? I was just testing ya, hehe.)
Kazuki let slip a small laugh which drew the full attention of the Gods. They all gave him a particular look.
“An ant dares laugh at us. Tell me…What do you find so laughable little insect?”
