Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 153
Completely surrounded on all sides. Nearly one hundred Gods along with nearly 30,000 Demigods and the rest were those at the 7th stage and below but even with millions on tier side, no one bothered to care what they did. Meanwhile, on Kazuki’s side, the numbers could be considered pathetic. They were outnumbered and had enemies not only from the city of Gauldriss but from the city of Vestoro as well.
After the stargate in Vestoro opened even more enemies arrived and the air was filled with familiar laughter.
All at once, the barriers on thousands of Vajra ships opened and these figures made themselves known. The one leading them, Samuel recognized immediately. It was Adigus his father’s sworn enemy and now his own sworn enemy. Samuel felt his blood boiling but he kept his cool. He would not be provoked, not now, not here.
With a lean yet tall frame and pitch-black hair, the man stood tall. His silver eyes narrowed as he zeroed in on Samuel immediately. The man was like a bird in human form. He focused solely on Samuel as if he were a predator who had already cornered his prey. Next to him was Signy of course as well as several other Gods.
“Cortail boy, it has been too long. How have you been as of late?”
These words were dripping with sarcasm and both Adigus and Signy laughed wildly. The other Gods around did not care for this and simply wanted to finish things but it was clear whose orders they followed. At the same time, there were other Gods who were not a part of Adigus’s group but now that all of Adigus’s forces had arrived, they knew they could no longer get a piece of the pie and felt as if they had wasted a trip.
Samuel didn’t look away. Instead, he lifted his chin and glared at the man who was responsible for his father’s senseless death.
“You dare ask me how I’ve been. After weakening my father you have your people ambush him and send him falling into Chaotic space. Your cowardly act caused the death of my father but you weren’t satisfied with that. You murdered my brothers one by one. You kidnap my servant’s relatives to try and use them against me. You try to kidnap me and when that doesn’t work you try and have me killed. All of this for what. For some weapons, for wealth. You look down on mortals but in the end, you cannot separate yourself from them. You emulate them in such a way that one could describe your actions as that of a snake of betrayal. All of the honor and reputation you’ve built up, all of it is no more than the dirt beneath my boot. You are truly pathetic and everyone here, whether you’ve bought their allegiance or threatened them, they are just as pathetic as you and you all know it.”
Samuel’s words cut deep and many Gods and Demigods felt a burning sensation in their chest as they knew he spoke the truth. Anger began to rise from the armies around them but unexpectedly Adigus just laughed again before a giant metallic fan appeared in his hand.
“I don’t deny it. My reputation is trash but who cares. I am not like these weaklings who care about image nor can my power be bought for so easily a price. That’s the problem with people. They are guided by such silly things as face. This is why they cannot see the knife coming for their back and they lose every step of the way. That description you just placed so heavily, that same disgust you feel. It applies to your late and stupid father. He too cared about face and because of it he accepted a duel with me and thought I would play fairly. He brought very few guards while I brought an army. He practically jumped into Chaotic space because he would rather die honorably than be torn to shreds by me. How utterly foolish.”
Adigus smiled and his silver eyes began to glow with bright light. The large unfolded fan opened and electricity began to scatter and dance atop its surface.
“So…are you going to hand over the expert now or do my forces have to drag him out and tear you apart along with it?”
Samuel shook his head.
“Now who’s being foolish or rather naive? Whether or not I hand anything over, you have already come this far. There was never an option where you did not kill me, was there?”
Adigus’s smile spread even further and his eyes widened into an insane look.
“Boy, why ask questions you already know the answer to? NOW GO JOIN YOUR FATHER IN THE VOID!”
In this single moment, Adigus, along with several other Gods struck. Adigus waved his fan and powerful bolts of silver lightning snaked forth. From the other Gods, an eruption of magic came flying out without exception. Blazing fire, gravity, molten dark energy, frozen beams of light. Powers fused together in a mess of plasma and brought a tidal wave of death.
All of this was aimed at Samuel, Kazuki, and the others with the exception of Kori and the expert craftsmen hidden away on his Vajra ship. They made sure to aim their attacks only at those out in the open and exposed.
Everything moved in an instant, yet for a fraction of a second, it seemed as if time slowed. All at once, the ring Kazuki and his entire group wore, lit up with a purplish glow. The incoming magic attacks from the Gods became so bright that the world turned white for a brief moment before a booming explosion shook the planet.
*KRACK- KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
Before the light fully faded the terrifying pull of Chaotic space spread out all around them and they knew they had gone a bit overboard. Several Gods tried to retreat in this split second to avoid being sucked in but they also knew how dangerous it was to move around when they could not see and the Chaotic space was affecting their senses. If they moved by accident they could very well end up getting directly pulled into Chaotic space and dying.
It was within this fraction of a second when everything flipped.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
“NOOOOOOOO!”
“SAVE MEEEE!”
Without warning, the agonizing and blood-curdling screams of several Gods came from seemingly every direction.
Adigus and everyone else within the battlefield of blindingly white light became confused on the spot. With the many tears in Chaotic space, they could not sense clearly what was happening around them but one thing they knew for sure these horror-filled screams were not an illusion.
Adigus went on high alert immediately and raised a barrier around him. As soon as he did this he felt something rushing at him at a speed no God could match. Instantly his fan filled with as much power as he could draw out and he swatted at the flying object while also trying to dodge out of the way.
His lightning was powerful and could easily kill another God in a single strike if that opponent was not careful. He expected whatever was flying at him to be reduced to ash but on the contrary, this flying object barely moved off its course before it slammed into his arm and with only a bit of resistance, he felt his entire arm get torn away.
Without another thought, his ring glowed and his Vajra ship appeared in front of him. He flashed aboard in an instant and without care for the many tears in chaotic space all around, he retreated backward as fast as his ship could take him. His arm regenerated fully and the light around the world faded just as quickly as it had come. When the light returned to normal and Adigus could see with his own eyes, he was beyond shocked.
All around, in every direction, there were many Gods falling out of the sky. There was something unbelievable in their chests. Adigus couldn’t believe it but the words fell from his mouth anyway as he watched the flying objects in disbelief.
“Vajra Ships!”
Hundreds…Thousands of Vajra ships came flying out of the rings of Kazuki and his group. These ships were shabbily built but they were Vajra ships nonetheless. Kazuki had learned early on how destructive Vajra ships were. They could move at such unbelievable speeds that even Gods could not catch them. Behind this speed was a force that could destroy a God’s body.
When planning on how best to survive, Kazuki had recalled the story of how a Vajra ship was flown into Gauldriss city and it had killed at least one God. This was why they had a law about flying ships in the city’s airspace. It was simply too dangerous and no God wished to risk their life over something so preventable. With this knowledge and the mass wealth Kazuki and the others build up, the plan basically formed all on its own.
As all of the Demigods died instantly from this attack and a few Gods died as well, standing in the epicenter of all of this, Kazuki smiled like a demonic God.
