Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 154
Thirty thousand Demigods died instantaneously while a few Gods died as well. The Gods could be considered somewhat lucky in the fact that Kazuki absorbed all of the souls of any Demigod that was nearby when they died. The Gods who had their body destroyed by the oncoming Vajra ships could easily recreate and materialize a new body. So one could say they were lucky in this regard but also unlucky.
Because they were without their bodies, they were half a step too slow.
Kazuki’s ring flashed a fraction of a second after he and his allies unleashed the Vajra ships upon the Gods. With this flash, the two Gods lying in wait inside of one of his tiny worlds came rushing out to finish any Gods who had nobody.
With a swing of their swords, they shattered nearly 50 Divine soul weapons and finished these Gods completely. How regrettable it was that Kazuki wasn’t close enough to absorb any of these God souls. At the same time, he couldn’t complain after wiping out half of his enemies in one fell swoop.
Kazuki smiled as he witnessed the look of horror in the sand Gods eyes just before he was slain.
In the distance not too far away, Viz and Ezenee were still in mid-combat. Ezenee was shocked by the sight of so many Gods dying all at once and he couldn’t help but feel something was off.
“You bastard. Viz what did you do?”
Viz headbutted Ezenee sending him flying backward.
“It’s as you can see. Did you think my situation was hopeless? You wondered why I would team up with mere mortals…That is why. Have you ever witnessed such a sight in your entire life? A mortal planning the death of a God and executing it? The world is grand is it not!”
Viz rushed forward once again and his blade met Ezenee’s. Viz’s blade glowed with red lightning and he slashed down with all his might. Ezenee was stunned but he still managed to react in time to deflect this attack. The moment he did, Viz was all smiling. His lightning bounced off of Ezenee’s glaive and circled around behind him before exploding.
This eruption of Godly might caused another tear in Chaotic space to open directly behind Ezenee. The suction force was too strong and far too close to avoid. He was pulled halfway into the tear in space but just before he was sucked in, power coated his hands and he physically grabbed the sides of this tear as if it were a doorway. The pull on his body did not stop but he managed to hold himself out of the hole.
“YOU WILL NEED MORE THAN PETTY TRICKS TO DESTROY ME!”
Viz smiled before lifting his hand and pointing his fist directly at Ezenee.
“You’re not wrong. Have a fun trip into the void.”
Viz’s ring glowed and before Ezenee could say another word, a Vajra ship sped out of his ring faster than light and struck him in the chest. His chest split open and exploded and then every chunk of him was sucked into the tear and he disappeared from sight.
Viz was a brute, to say the least. He was a head-on-head strong individual that always came rushing from the front. This is one of the things he was known for. Viz though could also learn. Though he was stubborn, when he saw the way Kazuki did things, the way Kazuki thought outside of the box, it made him realize he had his own weak areas that needed working on.
He wondered just how much more deadly he could be if he did a few tricky things. When he fought Ezenee he fought like he always did until he used his red lightning to bounce around his foe. A small trick that anyone would be able to see through but because he was who he was, Ezenee never expected it and it caught him off guard. Viz liked this way of fighting. he wouldn’t necessarily use it all the time but if need be, he would have no problem doing so.
Viz tried to withdraw the Vajra ship but it had fallen too far into the depths of the tear and he could no longer retrieve it.
“Damn, that ship cost a fortune and it’s gone just like that!”
Viz sighed at the loss. He then shook his head. He knew that there would be greater fortune in the future and with a shrug, he turned around and flew as fast as possible to the real battlefield.
Lestiruis and the other two Gods waiting to ambush Viz were left speechless and none of them even attempted to stop Viz as he flew past them.
“Lestirius what do we do now? Ezenee did not weaken Viz in the slightest. if we fight him now
Lestirius snapped at this God.
“I KNOW! Let me think…”
Lestiruis looked at the entire situation and not just what Viz had just done. The battlefield was in chaos. Sure their side still had plenty of Gods alive but as Lestirius really thought about it, things looked dim.
“DAMN IT ALL! FOLLOW AFTER HIM BUT DON’T ENGAGE HIM! WE’LL WAIT AND SEE!”
Lestirius thought about the humiliation he suffered at the hands of Viz and for the first time, he began to wonder if this was worth it. He had never even imagined a mortal could come up with such a destructive plan. He weighed his options carefully.
“If Adigus does win then we gain nothing. Only if we kill Viz along the way will we at least remove the black mark from our reputations but if he joins the fray over there and he is slain by Adigus or one of his men, we would still walk away with nothing. At the same time, those mortals, they hid that card too well. They ought to have known they could not kill everyone with a single move and yet, they did not flee. Something is clearly not right.”
Lestirius and his two allies flew with him and gave chase but at the same time, all three of them kept their distance. They all found the situation to be off and decided to take a wait-and-see approach.
The two Gods on Kazuki’s side and even Kori moved forward like a tidal wave. They slayed as many injured Gods as possible but this could only last a fraction of a second as Gods healed far too quickly. Adigus was well recovered and with no one by Samuel or Kazuki’s side, he found this to be a huge opening.
(These annoying bastards dare stand up to me! I’ll destroy every single one of you!)
Adigus was thoroughly enraged. The wind surrounding him funneled upward and with a single step, he rushed forward while commanding the others.
“QUICKLY KILL THEM NOW BEFORE THOSE SHIPS TURN AROUND!”
The Vajra ships had flown far off into the distance but the moment they turned around, they would once again become deadly weapons. Adigus found the situation to still be in hand. There were still more than 50 Gods left and even though there was a good deal of enemy ships left its number was not something they could not deal with. To his surprise, many of these ships had fallen apart and were destroyed on impact.
From his perspective, they seemed to have been made in a hurry and therefore lacked in quality. They had come out in the thousands but now only a few hundred of them remained.
The remaining Gods were also enraged. They also knew not to attack as hard as last time as it would create more Chaotic space tears as well as steal their vision from the blindingly bright attacks. With all the tears around them, their senses were heavily affected. They would not let a repeat of what just happened take place again.
They felt humiliated as they drew their weapons. Never before would they think they would have to fight against Demigods. This would be up close and personal and they were determined to make it as painful as possible.
Kori, the two slave Gods, and Viz were not close enough to defend Kazuki and the others and this caused Adigus and his group to move in without hesitation.
On Kazuki’s side, they all seemed terrified causing the Gods to become even more excited with anticipation. Just as the enemy came rushing in, Kazuki once more smiled demonically. All of the Gods felt something was wrong with this sudden change but it was already too late.
Once again, the impossible became possible. These rushing Gods were suddenly filled with dread as Kazuki and his allies once more lifted their hands and with it, the flash of their storage rings glowed with purple light.
Adigus felt his skin crawl and without hesitation, he took the large fan in his hand and swung it with all of his strength to one side. This caused a powerful force of air to push him miles away almost instantly. At this exact time, his ears were filled with screams of pain as he witnessed Vajra ship after Vajra ship filling the sky and with them, Gods came raining down like fallen leaves.
