Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 158
Five Gods gave chase toward the second fleeing ship. They were fed up with the situation and were ready to vent every frustration upon those within the escaping ship. After having so many Gods die due to a mere mortal’s plan, they suffered great humiliation. Now, it was time for revenge. Even though it was left unsaid, they all knew, the moment they caught the fleeing ship, they would slaughter everyone aboard except the expert craftsmen should he be aboard.
One thing that made their goals difficult was the ship in front of them. They had been chasing it for only a few moments but its path was noticeably strange. For a fleeing ship, the most logical decision would be to escape as far away as possible as quickly as possible, yet this ship kept circling back toward the battlefield.
They struck out with their weapons causing magic to explode all around. They had thought they were leading it in a way but only now did they realize it was them that was being led by the nose.
They all felt something was off about this and felt it was most likely a distraction of some kind but they had strict orders and until they caught this ship and revealed the truth, they could only speculate and guess.
The fleeing ship began to slow. These five Gods did not know why or how but that made them excited. Soon everything would be uncovered. Within a moment’s notice, they surrounded it and their auras all came crashing down atop the ship’s barrier.
This barrier could take a lot but the full strength of multiple Godly aura’s, not a chance. The barrier crumbled and was torn apart like paper and these Gods all quickly landed atop the ship’s deck but once they were there, they noticed there was not a soul aboard.
“Damn, it was a distraction. We were too close to all of the tears in Chaotic space. It’s no wonder we couldn’t sense any life properly.”
It was clear someone had been controlling the ship remotely with their mind. The Gods cursed at Kazuki as they had fallen for his distraction.
“That little shit lord. When I find him, I will personally rip his spine from his back and beat his lifeless corpse until my fury cools!”
Another God tapped the first one on the shoulder and pointed in the distance with a dumbfounded look.
“It looks like you’ll get your chance sooner than you think, look. Isn’t that him coming right at us?”
In the distance a few million miles away, Kazuki was unexpectedly flying without a ship. He was alone flying right toward them.
The Gods all watched this with stupified expressions. hey had found Kazuki to be bold for a mortal but coming right at them, this was just plain foolish.
Just as they saw Kazuki, Kazuki as well saw them. His lips moved silently as he mouthed the words.
[Fuck you]
The five Gods had already been boiling with rage. When they saw this blatant disrespect from a weaker being, they lost their absolute shit. All of them were just about to take off from the ship when it suddenly lit up with radiant light. They had lost their focus for a split second due to Kazuki and at this exact moment, with a simple thought, several hundred thousand Divine crystals in the cargo hold exploded all at once.
*KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
These Gods, even if they were slow to react, still managed to raise a barrier while others simply took the explosion directly to the body. Those that took the damage to the body were blasted backward for hundreds of thousands of miles. They were rocked and stunned for a moment but otherwise unharmed. The other Gods on the other hand were fine but their rage was ever-present.
They had been humiliated far too many times by this mortal and this would not stand. While three Gods were blasted away. Two raced forward directly toward Kazuki. They did not even think about using their weapons. If they swung their blades at Kazuki, they knew they would kill him instantly. That would be highly unsatisfying. No, in order to rid themselves of this humiliation and anger, they needed to touch his flesh and feel the life being crushed and drained from him as they wrang his neck like a dirty rag.
Kazuki smiled as they came rushing at him.
Just as they got within range, he gently raised his hand and his storage ring flashed as he shouted.
“TAKE ANOTHER BARRAGE!”
Even though they were thoroughly pissed. They had seen the damage first hand this barrage of Vajra ships could do. Maybe it wouldn’t kill them but to suffer under a mortal’s hands once again, they would not let that happen. Because of these thoughts, the moment they were within range of Kazuki, they instinctively paused for a fraction of a second. This was a mistake on their behalf and because of their mistake, it would be fatal for them.
Out of his ring, out of the tiny world inside, Sasha and Tessa came rushing out and swung their weapons with no hesitation. The power of degrading darkness came cracking out of Sasha’s multi-pronged whip, while a beam of fused and concentrated ice and light shot forth at these two hesitant Gods.
It was one thing to take an explosion made up of thousands upon thousands of Divine crystals, whilst having a barrier in place. It was something else entirely to take on the full-force attack of two powerful Gods at the same time without a barrier.
These two Gods were struck down instantly and neither knew how they had died. The two mighty Goddesses did not stop there. Sasha’s whip stretched across the horizon making thunderous cracking sounds as it tore the air asunder and ensnared the three other Gods in the distance. These three were still stunned by the trap Kazuki had unleashed a moment ago and were caught completely and utterly unprepared.
Tessa’s scythe came slashing out at nearly the exact same time Sasha’s whip had caught them and once more, these Gods died knowing nothing. One moment they were talking atop the ship and cursing what they would do when they got their hands on Kazuki, the very next they were no longer among the living.
“Hmph, none of these men are a match for me or my dark whip. How pathetically weak and uninspired.”
Tessa gave Sasha an odd look.
“You are overestimating your own skill and underestimating Jentson’s.”
“What did you say? You think my skills are lacking. Why is it that every word aimed at me from you is so contentious?”
Tessa shook her head.
“I’m not insulting you, rather, my eyes are opening more and more.”
Tessa looked at Kazuki as if she were trying to see through him.
“You…How did you know they would not kill you from a distance? Was this not a huge risk to your life?”
Kazuki didn’t deny it.
“Everything in life is a risk of some sort. I simply relied on the odds. Using what I know about Gods, the risk I took…It was calculated. If they were thinking rationally, the most logical move, like you said, would have been to kill me instantly. That, they could have done from a distance with magic attacks. Instead, they were so enraged that they wanted, no they needed to kill me up close. Otherwise, they could not get rid of these emotions. Funny how sensitive God-like beings are. Image, reputation, ego, Gods place too much on these things and because of this, it can be considered a weakness. They hear an insult from me, I mock them, get under their skin and they lose their shit. They look down on me because of my lack of power and in doing so, they underestimate me to their doom.”
Kazuki flashed a demonic smile when he said this and both Sasha and Tessa felt a chill crawl up their spine. Never before have they felt fear from a mortal being but Kazuki had brought out this feeling from them not once but twice and in a single day at that. Right there and then both of them formed a similar thought in their mind.
Kazuki was not to be undermined and since he was an ally of Viz’s, he was someone they should not purposely make an enemy out of. Even if he lacked power, his mind was too cunning. He had literally come up with a way to end Gods. Yes, it was costly but who in their right mind could come up with a plan and also have the resources to execute such a plan?
Sasha’s attitude toward Tessa lessened when she realized Tessa was not insulting her but rather propping up Kazuki to a level where he should not be looked down upon simply because he was not a God. This made something burn inside Sasha and she wanted Kazuki to be hers and submit to her and her alone even more.
(This man will be mine.)
