Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 18

Kazuki made his way to the room indicated on the map. The moment he stepped inside, the lights came on automatically. Again, they appeared to be almost fluorescent and fake. Kazuki’s senses were not weak but he could not sense electricity running through these lights nor could he feel an ounce of magical energy inside of them.

The room was quite small but had a bed as well as a panel on the wall. This one was different and had no crystals jutting out of it and looked more like a display or monitor. Kazuki curiously touched it and found that his hand went through it. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a small light, a laser that displayed this monitor like it was a hologram.

(How does that work? Could it be similar to the recording crystals back on Gordonia?)

Sitting down on the bed, Kazuki looked down at Arc.

(Arc, can you hear me? Are you there?)

The ring on his thumb made no movements and no voice entered his mind. Kazuki began to wonder if something really was wrong with Arc but he had no way of finding out. Every time he tried to send his aura inside of the ring, he found nothing but darkness. Usually, there would at least be a barrier or something to keep him out but right now there was nothing. It was like Arc was no more and all that was left was an endless empty void.

(Coming to a Higher Realm and I’m already trapped. I must find a way off of this rotting eye and I need more information. I thought there might be a library or something in this tower but there’s no indication of that on the map Stez gave me.)

Even the crystal map Stez gave Kazuki was activated not with magic but with the mind. Everything was too strange.

(I don’t even know what this crystal uses for energy. How can it be activated with just the mind?)

*Toc toc*

As Kazuki was lost in thought, there was a knock on his door. Before he had a chance to even ask who it was, the door slid open and a young woman walked in. The woman was of average height and had dark red hair. She stepped inside and gave Kazuki a perverted smile.

“From now on you’re mine!”

The woman’s fingers moved disgustingly as she took a step forward. Kazuki was startled and jumped to his feet. This for some reason, made the woman lick her lips.

“Oh, you’re quite spry for an old man. Good, this will make things much more fun.”

“Who are you, what do you want!?”

The woman’s smile became even creepier.

“Names don’t matter. All you need to know is I’m going to eat you up left and right. You are going to be mine and you’re going to like it.”

Just as the woman took another step closer, suddenly someone appeared behind her and chopped down on her head.

*Whack*

“Katriss, I knew you’d be here, you bitch!”

It was another woman. This woman looked exactly the same as this so-called Katriss, except her hair was parted to the left whereas Katriss’s hair was parted to the right.

“Twins!”

The woman who knocked Katriss on the head smiled sweetly before apologizing.

“My sister is a lustful, horny dog but she means no harm. Sorry about her. She’s already tired of the men of this place so when she saw you, she couldn’t help it. Again sorry.”

The woman began to drag Katriss away and Katriss tried to grab at Kazuki.

“No no no. He’s new, I need something different. I’m bored of all these useless limp-dick bastards. Let me have a taste at least. NOoooooooooo.”

Just like that Katris was dragged away, kicking and screaming.

Kazuki was left stunned.

(What the fuck was that!? Does this door not have a lock on it?)

The moment he thought this, the door slid shut, and a small audible *cachkk* sound rang out. Kazuki grabbed the handle of the door and tried to pull it open but it wouldn’t budge.

“It really locked?”

*Toc toc*

Again someone knocked on his door and Kazuki jumped back on reflex. This time though, the door did not just slide open.

(It really is locked.)

“Who is it?”

“Who do you think? You’re one true saver, hehe.”

Kazuki went silent before the voice seemed annoyed.

“It’s me, Marty. Open the door already.”

Kazuki thought about unlocking the door and the door unlocked and opened with a slide.

Marty stepped in and started to complain.

“How can you not recognize the voice of your ultimate savior, hehe. Wait a minute, what’s wrong with ya?”

Marty looked Kazuki up and down before recalling seeing Katriss being dragged away and she put two and two together.

“Damn it, don’t tell me, was it that horny dog in heat. She just won’t stop. Just how many people do you have to go through before you’re satisfied?”

Marty shook her head.

“It’s ok don’t let that weird one scare you. I just heard that Stez is allowing you to stay and you are under his protection now. Katriss is going to get punished so don’t let it bother you too much.”

“What’s wrong with her?”

Marty shrugged.

“There’s not a lot of entertainment around here. Being stuck for hundreds or thousands of years, people find ways to stay busy. Me, I like to do research, Katriss, she likes to fuck anything that moves. I feel sorry for her sister, though. Katriss was just starting to calm down, now that there’s someone new aboard, she’s gonna have to watch Katriss like a Meterian bird.”

Kazuki let out a heavy sigh.

“Hey don’t get down. If you actually want to stick her all ya gotta do is approach her. I didn’t think you were the perverted old man type though, heh.”

Kazuki denied that notion and shot it down immediately.

“I want nothing to do with her. How can I make that clear to her so as to not cause confusion in the future?”

“Eh, ya can’t really. Best to avoid her entirely or bone her a few thousand times and get it over with. Otherwise, knowing her, she probably won’t put an end to this.”

Kazuki sighed inwardly. Now he had to deal with more shit.

“Forget all that. Anyway, come with me, there’s something I want your help with.”

“You need my help. I barely know what’s going on, why do you think I can help in any way shape, or form?”

Marty smiled at Kazuki.

“Stez already showed me all the information regarding your ki energy and those interesting talisman things. I’m more of a hands-on approach type of lady, call me old-fashioned for that if you will. Things just make more sense when I’m elbow deep in the shit rather than processing things in the mind if that makes sense.”

“Wait, Stez shared that with you?”

“If you’re worried about others knowing, don’t be. He shared it with me because I’m the resident expert around these parts. Out of all the Oasis’s, I’m the number one when it comes to figuring out all this ancient tech. Of course, that’s mainly because I’m the only one who’s actually looking into all of this.”

Kazuki was slightly annoyed that Stez just gave out that information, but at the same time, it cost him nothing. He just felt like the more people who knew, the more it would spread and that could possibly be a disadvantage. At the same time, Kazuki’s granny master would not want her art to die with Kazuki and he understood that sentiment. In the end, he could do nothing about it. The information was already out there.

“I don’t understand. If no one seems to want to be here, why wouldn’t everybody be doing their utmost to try and leave this decaying eyeball?”

“Time will do that to ya. Everyone starts off hopeful but that just becomes a burden when it amounts to nothing. Who can pull enthusiasm out of their ass every day when nothing seems to be progressing or working. Plus if the grand goal is to escape and there’s no plan whatsoever to achieve that goal, people just become directionless and they eventually crash and become hopeless. Now their only thought of truly escaping is to absorb as much divine energy as possible, reach enlightenment, and become a true God. Though, even if they become a true God it’s useless.”

“Why is that?”

“We don’t know a lot about this place but one thing we’ve come to realize is this place isn’t weighing one down based on their actual weight but rather the stage they are at. This world pulls at ya. The stronger you are, the stronger it weighs ya down.”

“That’s…possible. What sort of magic…?”

Marty shrugged again.

“We still don’t know. Some people think that they are the exception to the rule. They believe once they become a God, they will be the ones who will be able to escape but that just doesn’t happen.”

“People have tried and have reached Godhood here.”

Marty folded her arms.

“There was one but that turned into a disaster for everyone on Oasis Five.”
