Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 4
Lin couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
(You want revenge so bad? After everything that’s just happened, after what the children just went through? You want them to suffer even more for your so-called revenge. Where does that leave them? Are you telling me you wish to abandon them somewhere so you can go and throw your life away for something that will not come to fruition? Think rationally sister before you end up dead and alone. Shouldn’t your first priority be Kosaru? Tell me I’m wrong, tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about!)
Alutra became quiet and she couldn’t refute a single word. Her heart burned with anger but her brother was right.
(You called me spineless and weak before. I won’t deny that this whole situation terrifies me. I don’t deny that I’m weak. I know from the bottom of my heart where my weaknesses lie but that doesn’t change the truth of the matter. Even if you and I return to the Higher Realm and reclaim our full powers, together, we still would be unable to defeat Sephra. That is if she’s by herself. If she is still under father’s authority, he will not favor us just because we are his children, and if she’s not under his rule but instead is back under her family’s protection, our chances of winning fall to zero. I’m furious, I wish I had the ability to destroy her. Killing my brother, turning my own daughter against me, killing my son and everything after, I want her to die in the most gruesome way.)
Lin balled his hand into a fist as he trembled with anger. A moment later, his hand slowly opened and he sighed heavily.
*Haaah*
(It is something we simply are not capable of. We cannot win, we can only give up. Sephra thinks we are all dead and even if she believed we were alive, she no longer has any way of finding our location. For the sake of the kids, for the sake of our own well-being, we must give up and let it go.)
Alutra knew her brother was right but how could she just let it go. Her fury still burned like a million stars and her thought only contained revenge, that is until she heard Kosaru’s small voice in her head.
(Mama, don’t go. Don’t leave me.)
Kosaru was still unconscious and was having a nightmare. Still, he managed to call out in his dreams. Tears began to roll down his little face and he was extremely upset and scared. Seeing this broke Alutra’s heart and her rage was snuffed out. Her focus fell onto Kosaru and Kosaru alone. At this moment there was nothing else in her head or heart besides Kosaru. Alutra felt guilty that she had even thought about leaving Kosaru’s side for even a second and she once more broke down and cried as she held him.
(Mama,s here, mama’s not going anywhere.)
Wiping his tears from his face, her warm touch brought Kosaru comfort and his pained expression eased and relaxed as he called out once more.
(Mama.)
Alutra looked at Kazuki and tried to talk but it was just too painful. Even though she was ready just seconds ago to take revenge, all of that had been flipped upside down and thrown away.
Kazuki didn’t blame her, he wouldn’t dare. He understood her intentions. He too had felt what she had at one point. A love that was so intense that you would give up everything to protect it. For Alutra, that was Kosaru.
(Kazuki, do you see. Alutra has realized what is important. Let us take this opportunity and find a new place, a new Realm with a new world. Let us start over.)
These were not the words Kazuki wanted to hear. No this was not the right time to even say some shit like this. He had just lost everything and although his uncle had good intentions, these words only caused Kazuki harm.
Kazuki moved like lightning and grabbed his uncle by the throat and began to squeeze. Lin let him grab him by the throat because he thought it would allow Kazuki to release some of his pent-up anger but he quickly realized this was a mistake. Even though he was a Demigod, Kauzki’s physical strength was above his own. Lin could feel his throat being crushed under his nephew’s grasp.
(Kazuki, stop!)
Lin put up his aura and tried to push Kazuki away but Kazuki used his own aura to counter. His aura folded thousands upon thousands of times creating 10’s of thousands of layers in an instant. His uncle’s aura was being pushed back and with the pressure, it was being destroyed little by little. Lin’s eyes went wide.
He knew Kauzki’s strength continued to grow with the damaged soul fragments being repaired but he never imagined his strength had surpassed his own by such a wide margin. Alutra as well didn’t know when Kazuki had grown so much but one thing she knew was that Lin was in danger.
She wondered if they would need to use more Divine energy to knock Kazuki unconscious but just before she made a move, Kazuki glared at Lin and his thoughts rang cold.
(DON’T TELL ME TO LET IT GO EVER AGAIN, UNCLE!)
Kazuki then tossed Lin aside before walking to the edge of Lin’s barrier and sitting down. He shut his eyes and began to meditate, leaving his aunt and uncle in total shock.
Lin was left speechless. He never in a million years expected Kazuki to turn on him and resort to violence. The boy he had raised up, the boy he called son, it was obvious now that his relationship with Kazuki had fundamentally changed on this day. Lin felt heartache but he didn’t say a word. He knew he shouldn’t have spoken about letting things go literally right after everyone died but he couldn’t just let Kauzki’s thoughts run wild.
All he wanted was for Kazuki to be happy and live in peace but he understood right then that this would no longer be possible. He knew he had lost Kazuki and there was no convincing him of anything.
Lin slowly stood back up. Walking to the opposite side of the barrier, he looked out ahead to a small glint in the distance and only cold silence was left between the two. Alutra knew she could do nothing to repair what ah just happened between the two and right now her concern was on Kosaru and Mei and that was it. She could not let anything come between her and the children. She would protect them at any and all cost and if that meant she didn’t walk the same path as Lin or Kazuki then so be it.
—————————————————————————-
After another day or so, the small speck of light in the distance increased several times over until it filled one’s vision. They had arrived at a new Lower Realm. With Lin’s divine energy it was beyond simple to open a rift into this new Realm. Space was torn apart as they all entered. With a thought, Lin repaired the spot they had entered from and released his barrier.
During this trip, Mei had woken up a few times here and there. Each time she woke up she looked around for her mother and each time she remembered what happened before she broke down in tears and cried herself back to sleep. Alutra could only rock her back and forth in comfort while Kazuki gave her a little bit of ki to try and calm her. Eventually, she would fall back to a world of dreams, each time a little easier than the last.
Kosaru on the other hand had been badly hurt and he had still not awoken. Alutra and Lin continuously gave him some of their divine energy which seemed to comfort him but beyond that, they didn’t know if it was even helping anymore. Kosaru’s little body was simply too mysterious in this way.
Kazuki spread out his aura. This Realm was smaller than the previous one and his aura could cover it in its entirety. Within seconds he found thousands of planets with intelligent life and with a thought a new rift opened and teleported them all to one of these planets in an instant.
The planet they came across was smaller than Earth by a few times but had plenty of life here and there. Landing on the planet, Kazuki set up a barrier around a small mountain range so that nothing unwanted could pass through. Afterward, he opened his storage ring and brought out a house, or rather a mansion. It was Old Tilly’s mansion. After he took it from her ungrateful shit stain of a son, he stored it away in his ring and brought it out today.
Going inside, a sense of nostalgia hit but Kazuki pushed these thoughts aside and brought Mei, Alutra, and Kosaru to a large room to rest.
Afterward, he went to a small lounge and fell backward on a couch. Kazuki let out a heavy sigh before something took hold of him and he drifted off to sleep.
