Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 54
Kazuki looked around and a sea of needles surrounded him as if he were a porcupine. Winding up the paddle, he hammered away at his needles in quick succession. Tens of thousands of needles flew out with deadly accuracy. He couldn’t make the killing blow on every single worm but he made a large enough dent in the swathes of beasts that it did not matter.
Thousands upon thousands of sandworms dropped like flies.
*Bang*
The ground broke as the sand king crushed the world around Kazuki. If not for his last-second move, Kazuki would have been completely crushed. As Kazuki ran across the battlefield, the spinning void within churned at full power. Worm after worm vanished from the world and supplied him with greater and greater strength.
At the same time, Arc took in any and all divine power from the dead worms before they were devoured by Kazuki. This power was not enough to completely dominate but it was just enough to slowly start to swing things in Arc’s favor.
If one were to zoom out of the fight, it would look like a flea taking on a great beast as Kazuki jumped here and there avoiding his death. Every second he swung at more and more needles and more and more waves of sandworms fell over dead.
The spinning void ate and ate and Kazuki moved faster and faster as every aspect of his physicality improved without stopping.
“Faster faster faster!”
Kazuki took a step forward and his body blurred extending his arm outward his hand clenched tightly into a fist as he punched a giant sandworm. His hand shattered and blood gushed out. At the same time, this particular giant sandworm was knocked a few feet back and something inside of it broke. Kazuki’s hand repaired and the flowing blood reversed and his wound closed as he stepped forward and threw out another punch.
This punch though was a fraction stronger and slightly faster than the first.
*Bang*
Kazuki’s fist shattered once more but this time, not every bone broke and the worm was pushed back even further. Once again he heard something break in the worm and he felt he could kill it with one more blow. Before he throw another out, a large tail came smashing down atop him.
Kazuki’s feet dug deep into the ground before he kicked away with everything he had.
*BOOM!*
the worm he had just punched and the ground he stood upon was now a crater of foul-smelling blood.
Another smash and the needles killed thousands more.
(This feels good!)
Kazuki jumped into the air and brought his foot down with an ax kick right on top of a sandworm’s back.
*CRACK!*
The body folded around his foot before his foot penetrated the worm’s body by more than halfway. The worm was dead before it could even issue a cry.
A smile formed on Kazuki’s face.
“MORE!”
At this time the ancient one noticed something was off. It had gathered more than enough power to crush its opponent he thought but the more he fought the more difficult things were becoming. His soul arms were being cut through at a faster rate than before and Arc’s barrier was slowly but surely expanding.
“WHAT IS THIS? HOW IS YOUR POWER INCREA…?”
Resadez only now noticed that the divine power inside of his worms was being absorbed by Arc. It had never occurred to him that an insignificant ant-like Kazuki could have survived this long against his sand king body but not only was Kazuki surviving, but he was also somehow growing stronger and so to was Arc.
“YOU DARE USE MY OWN POWER AGAINST ME!”
Resadez soul form began to glow brighter and down below the sand king responded in kind. There were no eyes on the sand king but two glowing orbs appeared where the eyes would be. Following that, tens of thousands of worms fell over dead and a wave of energy flew upward and Resadez absorbed it. Resadez soul arms grew thicker and more and more of them appeared. Any advantage Arc held was once more snuffed out and Arc was being pushed back once more.
Resadez glowed and the false eyes of the sand king glowed in response. Tens of thousands of worms once again died and more energy flowed upward.
(Kazuki, he’s growing more powerful, you must hurry and kill the sand king so he can’t absorb any more power.)
Kazuki pivoted on the ground and launched himself at the sand king. His arms blurred as he hit all of the needles shooting them forward in quick succession. Once again they bounced off of its tough flesh and only pissed the great beast off. The beast slammed its head forward trying to swallow Kazuki down. Kazuki rotated in the air, spinning with the paddle, he hit the lower part of the creature’s jaws and managed to parry with his entire body. This distribution of force was not easily meant and he spun out of control and slammed into the ground hard.
*BAM!*
His body was embedded deeply into the ground and many bones were sticking out at disgusting angles. Kazuki had used his ki a long time ago to block his nerve receptors and turn off the pain so he didn’t feel it. Otherwise, this type of pain would have been crippling. Kazuki pulled himself out and he was already healed.
(How am I supposed to kill this bastard when I can’t even pierce its body? Even weapons made out of the mucus are basically useless.)
(I don’t know. Just figure it out otherwise things will turly become difficult.)
“Damn that’s all Arc can say. Acting so confident and now…”
Kazuki leaped out of the way again and dodged another attack. The sad king’s false eyes glowed and more worms died.
“I can’t think about it right now! I have to keep killing the worms. If I take out the worms, Resadez can’t absorb any more of their power.”
Kazuki was looking for a solution and a solution presented itself. Looking around there were tens of thousands of corpses.
(He took the souls and divine power but left the bodies.)
Kazuki didn’t hesitate and all in one second, tens of thousands of dead sandworms entered his soul world and were devoured instantly. Kazuki felt an explosion of growth but he was quickly reaching his limit. If he did not absorb more souls with his soul reading ability, the damaged part of his soul would remain and his growth would come to a grinding halt.
Kazuki felt unbelievable power course through his veins and took off. He slammed needles into others and even cocked back and threw some with all of his strength. The needles killed like a torrent of death. Kazuki didn’t stop with just the needles, with a punch another worm’s head cracked and the inside was reduced to a puddle. Kazuki had killed a worm with his bare fist.
(Fatser!)
He grabbed another by its tail and with all his power he managed to lift one for the first time. Spinning with the creature he tossed it at a few more crushing them on the spot. Jumping into the air his hands came together like a sledgehammer and he brought the hammer of death upon them. Punching kicking slamming throwing them, this place became Kauzki’s personal playground.
The more he killed the stronger he grew. The sand king was about to use its strange ability but Kazuki was not waiting around this time. Kazuki’s aura came out and using it with his ki he spun in the air and kicked the sand king directly in the face. His legs were torn off from using this much force against something so tough but he didn’t care. It was enough power to get the creature’s attention and distract it.
It opened its mouth and tried to eat Kauzki’s soul but Kazuki had already raised his ki barrier.
(So it looks like you can’t use that skill if you’re distracted. Don’t worry, I’ll play with you for as long as you want!)
Kazuki grabbed the chain still hanging on the sand king’s back. The sand king slammed its body back into the wall causing millions of tons of rock to come crumbling down. Kazuki though had already used the other sensory hairs like a platform and jumped around the creature’s body. He climbed to the top of the sand king in no time and wielded the chain like a demon.
Kazuki spun his arm round with blurring speed before snapping the cracking the chain like a whip atop the sand king’s body. The sand king actually flinched and released a heavy cry and again it tried to throw Kazuki off but Kazuki simply used this momentum to jump as high as possible.
The sand king thought this was an opportunity. It would avoid Kauzki’s spin and swallow him completely whole this time. The sand king’s jaws opened and a mess of jagged spiraling teeth became the entrance to the underworld. Kazuki though was not yet ready to see the demons and devils. His body began to flip at a rapid speed like a wheel. With this insane speed, the chain in his arms disappeared from sight as it moved with blinding speed. Just as he reached the monster’s mouth, the chain came cracking down like unholy thunder.
*CRACKKKK-BOOOOOOOM!*
The chain struck out with such force that the sand king was knocked back and slammed into the wall once more and the world shook as if it would fall apart.
