Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 56
Collapsed on the ground the sand king moved no more. Kazuki had just walked out of its mouth and looked at the destruction all around him. Standing in a pool of the sand king’s vomit and blood the world or at least the giant hole Kazuki was in was glazed over by mucus creating an odd sight. Everything had a thin layer of mucus and was incredibly hard. The surface had a slick feel to it and Kazuki almost slipped after taking a few steps.
(How am I supposed to climb out of here exactly? The walls are covered in mucus, there’s no way for me to hang on or penetrate the wall to go up.)
As Kazuki was wondering what to do Arc’s voice exploded in his head.
(FOOL IT’S NOT DEAD YET!)
Kazuki felt all the hairs on his body stand and he tried to dodge the incoming attack but the slick ground caused him to stumble. Before he could get out of the way, he felt an insane pressure all over as the sand king’s tail had encircled him and squeezed him with a weight that could crush dozens of Lower Realms in an instant.
Kazuki was completely trapped.
(NO!)
The sand King lifted its head and flexed its neck. As it did this the bulging in its neck lessened before the sound of something exploding rang out. Opening its mouth directly over Kazuki, thousands of broken pieces of the mace along with vomit, and Kazuki’s own blood spilled out atop his head like a waterfall.
Kazuki could not move at all and simply had to endure.
From up above, Resadez’s laughed with a mighty bellow that shook the world.
“Bwahahahaha, did you think you could really kill my body with such a stupid move? In my world, there is nothing tougher than my sand king body.”
With just those words, Resadez spoke no more and focused nearly everything on Arc. Down below the sand king understood Kazuki could regenerate at an unbelievable speed which is why he didn’t crush Kauzki’s body with his grip. Instead, he lowered his mouth and prepared to crush Kazuki’s head in a single bite.
(I can’t loosen this grip. Must escape!)
Even with all of his strength, with aura strengthening and ki flowing through him, Kazuki could not budge an inch.
The giant jaws of death came upon Kazuki and Kazuki used his ki and moved the needles in an instant.
(COME!)
The sand king’s mouth slammed shut but it did not feel the expected crunch. As a matter of fact, it felt no resistance at all. The sank king lifted its head slightly and looked upon Kazuki with its false eyes and there was a feeling of disbelief for a brief moment.
Resadez expected this to be over an in instant but he found that Kazuki’s head…it was missing entirely.
“Did you think I would just let you crush my head!? Did you think it would be so easy!?”
Kazuki’s voice echoed out inside of the sand king’s mouth. Kazuki’s severed head floated inside. The moment the sand king tried to crush his head, Kazuki used his ki to summon the needles to his side and he decapitated himself. With his head decapitated he used his ki and needles to float inside of the worm’s mouth.
Not only Resadez but Arc as well was shocked by this.
(Kazuki you’re one crazy bastard!)
Kazuki’s body regenerated inside the sand king’s mouth and he was once more whole.
“You caught me off guard and that was my fault Resadez but that was it, that was the final chance, it’s your loss!”
Resadez was confused. in his eyes, nothing had changed. He would simply try and crush Kazuki once more.
“I’ll admit, you are quite the vermin but that is all. Your death is inevitable, you are done.”
“REALLY! YOU THINK SO! WHY DON’T YOU TRY THIS THEN!”
Even though there was very little damage inside, there was still damage. All around the creature’s throat, there were thousands of seemingly insignificant tiny scratches. These scratches were caused by both the mucus mace as well as the sand king’s own strength. The mace did not simply shatter but it shattered with an unbelievable force caused by the sand king’s flexing a sit broke the mace head. This explosive force combined with the broken mace was just enough to leave tiny scratches.
Kazuki’s ki moved like lightning and with a thought, his needles shot forward into as many as these hair-like cuts. Once inside his wounds, the needles moved like little daggers as they finally pierced into his flesh. The outside was beyond tough and the inside was almost as tough but the layers in between, even this sand king could not block something that was already beneath the surface.
Suddenly Resadez was shocked.
“This…NOOO!”
Disaster had struck the ancient one and Arc took this opportunity when Resadez was shocked to fight back with even more intensity.
The needles weaved their way inside. After only a moment though they could go no further due to the tough flesh. To counter this Kazuki simply retrieved them before sending them flying out with as much strength as possible. The needles managed to penetrate a few inches deeper before they came to a grinding halt. Kazuki repeated this process again and again. His hands moved with unparalleled speed and they seemed to vanish with this movement.
The time it took him to throw the needles, retrieve them, and then throw them again was fractions of a second. In reality, he was delivering thousands upon thousands of needles in barely a second. The body of this beast was several miles long but Kazuki did not need to mvoe the needles that distance. Instead, he focused all of his energy on the inside of the throat and up to the head as well as to the creature’s spine.
Just as he paralyzed thousands of other worms he tried to do the exact same thing to the sand king but the king would not go down silently. Once more the thrashing. Kazuki was slammed back and forth and he no longer had anything to hold on to. His body was smashed to meat paste repeatedly but his ki and the needles did not stop. This caused the sand king to move more and more violently.
It slammed itself against the walls repeatedly. The very same walls it had covered in mucus. The walls began to shatter and explode left and right but under the sand king’s strength, it was causing small damage all over its body here and there. Just like the inside, tiny cuts began to gather on the outside of its body.
This only caused more and more problems. the sand king was taking more damage but Kazuki couldn’t quite paralyze it this battle down below left Resadez’s soul form under constant pressure. His attention had mostly been on Arc and their fight but the more damage Kazuki called the more attention he had to place on the fight below. This made him suffer on two fronts. Arc attacked harder and faster and Kazuki did not slow for a moment.
Resadez now realized he might actually lose his new body. A body he had nearly transferred his entire soul into. Even if he destroyed Arc and took in all of that power, it would be pointless without a body to put all of that power into. A body in which he had spent countless years on, a body that contained most of what was left of his soul after facing the god of gluttony. There was no other body like this around. If he lost it, it would cost him greatly.
Suddenly the sand king stopped thrashing and instead spun in a circle as if it was the reincarnation of a tornado. Kazuki flew to one side of the worm’s mouth and the g-force kept him pinned there. He knew exactly what the worm was about to do and tried to escape but it was too late. At maximum velocity, the sand king opened its mouth and Kazuki went flying at the wall. His body of course was no more than jello and he even felt the mucus skull, his greatest trump card shatter.
Kazuki had to do everything in his power to send the shattered pieces out of his head without them shredding his brain into cheese. He just barely managed to do this and his body began to recover but now he was without his armor. If he took a blow to his head, he would die without a doubt.
The sand king finally found some semblance of relief but it did not stop there. Its tail wound up and it whipped it around to strike Kazuki down. Kazuki leap out of the wall but now he was falling toward the sand king. His needles were still inside of the sand king and all of his weapons were lost during the fight. With no weapons and no armor, he would be taking on the sand king head-on.
He thought about using his aura to try and fly away but he already knew the result of such an action. The gears turned in his head but he couldn’t think of anything.
(Would my blood work if its mouth isn’t open, should I use lightning or ice with my aura? Could I teleport away in time or would this bastard swallow my soul in an instant?)
The sand king opened its mouth preparing to finish Kazuki once and for all and Kazuki saw the god of death welcoming him to hell.
Just as he was about to get swallowed, the wind screamed passed his ear and he felt a large force slam into his side.
“GOT YA!”
