Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 57
“GOT YA!”
Marty swooped down from up above and caught Kazuki just before the sand king’s jaws slammed shut. With a kick on the tail end of the glider, the entire thing flipped upward and ascended at a great speed. Kazuki was absolutely shocked.
“Marty!”
Marty smiled teasingly.
“Did ya think I just ran away? We’re in this shit together, now hold on!”
The glider roared as Marty pumped more and more energy into its core. With it, the glider accelerated up and out of the hole.
Resadez raged.
“You think I’ll let you escape so easily!”
The sand king down below sprayed a gush of mucus up the wall before snaking its way up, climbing at a terrifying rate.
“That bastard worm ain’t gonna stop. Jentson we can’t stick around, there’s no way to kill it.”
Kazuki was going to agree but he took a look at the worm and it came to him.
“No, turn around. I’m going to end it right now.”
Marty stared at Kauzkia s if he had lost his mind.
“Jentson are ya insane! That thing almost killed ya, even if Arc wants us to kill it there’s just no way.”
“Marty!…Trust me.”
Marty stared blankly for a moment. She could see the determination and confidence in Kazuki’s eyes.
“Fine, but if ya die, ya better reserve a spot somewhere in hell for me cause I’ll be right behind ya.”
Once more she kicked her glider and it flipped back and flew back down the deep hole.
“Marty, I want you to send me flying at the sand king with everything you’ve got.”
“Send ya at that monster…”
She shut her mouth and decided to trust Kazuki fully. If he was this confident, she wouldn’t try and stop him. Marty and Kazuki entered the depths of this chasm dicing down at the fastest speed the glider could carry them. As they came to the optimal speed, Marty grabbed Kazuki’s arm, and adding her own strength to the momentum of the glider, she threw Kazuki toward the sand king with everything she had.
“GO!”
The Moment she threw him down, Kazuki immediately started to spin his body like a bullet. From the time he was thrown out to the time he met the sand king face to face was fractions of a second. He appeared before the now open mouth once again. This time though he did not feel his death was imminent. Instead, a devilish grin spread across his face. The second before the creature slammed its mouth shut and killed Kazuki, Kazuki sent out his ki. All of his needles suddenly flew out of the sand king’s body and surrounded Kazuki from head to toe.
Every single needle except one surrounded him and with his spinning force, these needles became tiny bullets. The sand king did not care at all. These needles were little more than a nuisance. Once it slammed its mouth shut, Kazuki would be no more.
This is how it should have gone but Kazuki left one small surprise in the sand king’s body. A single needle. With a thought, this one needle no bigger than a hair drilled a fraction deeper and struck directly into the sand king’s spinal column. The moment the sand king went to close its mouth, it found that its entire body had become paralyzed.
Kazuki with his rapid spinning and fast diving speed, along with the mucus needles moving like little bullets, pierced directly into the sand king’s mouth, through its throat, and in an instant out of the back of its neck.
The sand king had already stopped climbing upward and with Kauzki’s strike and its own paralysis, it could no longer cling to the wall and fell away from the wall. Marty watched this with amazement. She was stunned for a split second before she snapped out of it and flew back down and caught Kazuki just before he smashed into the ground.
*BANG!*
The sand king crashed into the ground…it was dead.
“NOOOOOOOOO!”
Resadez roared and the world cracked nearly shattering then and there.
“Jentson we have to leave. Has Arc gotten enough energy!?”
Kazuki didn’t even hear Marty. The spinning void inside of his soul world was still rotating and with a thought, the sand king’s entire corpse disappeared from the physical world and entered his soul world.
Before he even felt the strength, he felt something different in his soul. Before he had time to examine any of his gains, Marty screamed in his ear.
“Jentson, snap out of it. Hang on!”
The glider roared once more and it flew like a comet in the night sky. They left the depths of the hole and wanted to escape but Resadez was enraged, truly enraged. He used more and more of his power sacrificing large chunks of his soul to create more soul arms to try and destroy Arc and kill Marty and Kazuki.
(Damn this tough ancient mummy.)
Arc was doing everything to block but a few of the attacks were slipping past.
(KAZUKI DODGE THEM!)
With the worms defeated, Kazuki and Marty could both use their aura now. With their power coming through, Marty maneuvered the glider while Kazuki mimicked the wind and used his sword forms to slash at the incoming soul attacks. He could not fully sever them because even after being weakened to his state Resadez was still above and beyond him. All he could do was just barely deflect this power. If not for Marty’s crazy skills in piloting, these attacks would have landed full on the pair and they would have been long dead.
Marty flew with no fear and moved like a feather on the wind as she escaped attack after attack.
“Dman, I’m running out of power already.”
The glider began to slow down. Marty did not have enough power to keep supplying the glider at this capacity.
Another attack came in but Arc destroyed it.
“YOU BASTARDS NO NOT WHEN TO QUIT. MY BODY! I HAVE PUT SO MUCH INTO IT I CAN NO LONGER RECOVER BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU. FINE, I’LL TAKE YOU PIECES OF FILTH WITH ME! DIE!”
Resadez’s soul began to glow brighter and brighter until it was blinding. At the same time, he began to pulse with energy.
Just as if it seemed like he was about to explode Arc called out.
(I can only hold him for a bit. Escape from here as fast as possible!)
“What escape without you! where!?”
Arc didn’t have an answer.
(Just try to get as far away from this place as possible. This monster’s power is slipping. The suppression is fading. The moment it vanishes, that will be your only chance to use your aura to teleport away with your power you may just be able to escape alone.)
“NO! I REFUSE! I’M NOT LEAVING YOU OR MARTY HERE TO DIE!”
(You stubborn fool. You don’t have to worry about me I’ll manage somehow.)
Kazuki felt no confidence in Arc’s words. Arc intended to go out with Resadez.
Marty caught only a part of the conversation as Arc could not focus enough to only talk with Kazuki so she understood for the most part what was going on. That’s when she reached into her clothes and pulled out the strange object Kazuki had given her earlier.
“Jentson, I don’t think any of us have to die.”
Kazuki saw the weird triangle-shaped magic device he had given her and was confused.
“Remember when I said this piece seemed familiar? The moment I got to my glider I realized why I recognized this piece. It matches the gap from the arch gate back on Oasis Seven.”
Kazuki’s eyes widened in shock. The piece of junk he had found among a room full of junk. This random piece he had given to Marty, was the missing piece to the arch gate back on Oasis Seven.
“Are you sure!?”
Marty shook her hand.
“For the most part…Yeah, The only thing is I don’t know how to activate it. If we just had a bit of time to study it
(There’s no need. Both of you give me as much power as you can right now!)
Neither one hesitated. They sent out not only ki but also aura and Marty supplied her remaining divine power. Arc drank this energy in. Instead of using it to continue holding Resadez’s unstable power back, Arc opened a small rift and in an instant, both Kazuki and Marty arrived on Oasis Seven.
The two looked around.
“Marty isn’t this…
“Were inside the tower. We just have to get this piece to my room and
“Who is it!?”
A crude voice called out from the stairs, it was Mack. He had just asked this question before recognizing the two. At first, he was stunned. The two had been abandoned down below on the surface but they had not only somehow survived but actually returned here.
“It’s you two!”
Mack jumped down the stairs and landed in front of the two.
“You dare sneak in here like rats in the night!”
“Mack we don’t have time for this, stay out of our way. Come Jentson we have to hurry!”
Kazuki and Marty were about to go by when Mack pulled out his divine weapon. At this time many people had come out to see what the commotion was including the leader of Oasis Seven, Stez.
They were confused and somewhat dumbfounded by the fact that Kazuki and Marty were still alive. Kazuki had no time for this spectacle. The moment Mack pulled his divine soul weapon, Kazuki took a step forward and sent out a punch. With his strength mostly unsuppressed now, adding on he used aura strengthening along with ki and he had just devoured the sand king, this punch of his caved Mack’s chest in instantly and knocked him through the tower wall sending him tumbling to the ground.
Everyone, including Marty, was shocked but Marty quickly snapped out of it and she grabbed Kazuki by the arm, and ran up the steps to her room. No one stopped them as they were left stunned.
The moment they stepped into her old room, Arc’s voice popped into their heads.
(Let go of the device.)
Marty held the magic device in her hand but when she heard Arc she held her hand open and the tiny device was surrounded by Arc’s power. It then shot forward toward the arch gate and automatically connected to the missing slot dead center at the top. The moment it connected, a portal opened.
Stez came to see Marty and saw the portal and was taken aback.
(Jump through!)
(Arc, what about you? I’m not leaving without you.)
(Did I say I was staying? Jump through you moron, do it NOW!)
Kazuki grabbed Marty’s hand and jumped through the portal, the moment they jumped through, a small rift opened directly in front of the portal and Arc jumped through as well.
Stez saw the portal and finally, reality hit him and he ran as fast as possible. Before he could make it through, suddenly, his vision went white, and then…nothing.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
