Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 60

Kazuki was left stunned. In order to reach the nearest city, it could possibly take years of flying nonstop.

“How can it be so far away?”

Marty shrugged.

“That’s something you’ll have to get used to. That or ya can find a way to get super rich and buy a Vajra ship. By the way, if ya do get rich and buy one ya better give me some free rides every now and again, heh.”

Marty then took to the skies and looked in the direction the first ship had flown toward.

“We’re in luck I can see other ships in the distance. They’re all headed in the same direction, there’s got to be a city that way.”

Kazuki didn’t like this answer. Marty didn’t say she could spot a city but rather she could see other ships heading in the same direction. This meant that the city must be such a distance from them that she can’t even spot it.

(For a demigod like her to not e able to see something, this city must be beyond far.)

Kazuki casually flew up to meet her and looked into the distance. Just as Marty said there were indeed other Vajra ships flying toward a singular spot. Kazuki could see billions upon billions of miles in the distance. Land as far as one could see. Mountains, rivers, valleys, plains. Deep forests covered in lush green. This was all one piece of land. From what he gathered this world only had a few types of terrain.

“This is going to take a while.”

Marty nodded.

“You ain’t wrong Jentson so we better head out and stop wasting time. Also, be prepared to fight at any time. This world could have anything on it and we could be attacked at any time. Not just by beasts but also scum that’s made a nest for those who travel these lands.”

“Bandits?”

Marty nodded once more.

“Yes. The cities would have laws and those to enforce them but the places without cities are free for any to do what they please. So be on your guard.”

“Why wouldn’t there be any guards or soldiers out here?”

“What would be the point? Out in the wild, those that control the cities have nothing to gain from protecting poor travelers from monsters or bandits. I’ll tell ya this now, nearly all who live at the top don’t give a damn about us who have empty pockets but the bandits are different. Even if we have nothing they’ll still find a way to squeeze blood from a stone. Usually, that includes slavery and other debaucherous acts. Just be on the look out ok? If it’s mortals we’ll be fine. If it’s a few demigods I can handle that myself but if there are too many just run and don’t look back nor stop for anyone or anything. As for a God, well, 99% of the time, if you’re a God you can find work under more powerful Gods that own star paths.”

“There are no bandit Gods?”

“I wouldn’t say that. If you’re a God n the Higher Realms that’s not exactly impressive, at least to other Gods. For people like you and me, though their existence is something that we cannot contend with. They basically live in their own world. On the off chance that we actually do run into a God in these wilds, it’s best to end yourself without delay. To be a God’s plaything, that is something worse than death.”

After fighting the sand king and dealing with the previous world and the abyssal trench, Kauzk doubted there were much worse things out there but the way Marty said it, he would not call her a liar.

Marty then punched Kazuki in the arm with a smile.

“Hehe, look at your face, the chances of running into a God are astronomically low. Come on, let’s go already.”

Just as they were about to take off Arc called out.

“Wait a moment. Marty, take this.”

Kazuki’s storage ring flashed and to the surprise of both of them Marty’s glider came out and hovered in the air.

“My glider! I thought it had been lost back on Resadez’s world. Arc you got it for me?”

Arc promptly denied that.

“Why would I get it purposefully just for you? I thought it may be useful and nothing more.”

Marty was smiling sweetly but she could see Arc had more emotion than first noted.

“Well, I’ll thank you anyway. Thanks.”

Kazuki on the other hand was surprised.

“Arc, when did you sneak this into my storage ring?”

“Don’t say sneak like I’ve done something remotely suspicious. Your storage ring may belong to you but we are tied together. Since that is so it’s like me opening a cabinet in a shared home so remove that rat-like sentiment if you would. Hmph, as for the stupid question. Is there any magic storage device I can’t enter? I can even traverse through chaotic space, a simple ring is nothing to me. I simply put it in there at the moment of our escape. At that instant I opened your ring and placed it inside, that was it.”

Kazuki was once again impressed at Arc’s abilities. The time Arc took to access his ring and place an object inside, was faster than even Kazuki himself could open it and it was his ring.

“Fine fine fine, I get it so can you relax a bit? I was just curious. not everything is an attack on you. As for the glider, what is the point of this, why did you bring it out? Back on Resadez’s world, it was fast but it wasn’t that fast. On a world like this where I’m not being suppressed, I could walk faster than this glider let alone me flying.”

“Is that a fact? Marty, you seem smarter than this man. I can see it in your eyes, you’ve already realized it. Why don’t you show him why he’s mistaken.”

Kazuki only now looked at Marty and she did have a different look than usual in her eyes. There was a strange air of thrill and excitement in her gaze. A creepy smile spread across her face as if she had just discovered something perverted. Marty didn’t hesitate to jump on her glider. With a thought, divine power was drained from the air and delivered directly to the glider’s core.

“FLY!”

The instant these words left her mouth, both she and the glider vanished in thin air. A long silver trail was left in her wake and the sound of the glider’s roar rippled out and shook the air before fading out. Kazuki looked into the distance but could not see her anywhere.

“She’s gone!”

Half a second later Kazuki heard the distinct roar of the glider once more and both it and Marty reappeared in front of him and stopped just before they collided. Kazuki felt a tingle run up his spine as the glider stopped half an inch from his nose.

“Did you already forget what that decaying world was? A place where Resadez’s power suppressed all of those who lived there. Not just one’s soul but all magical energy. Add on the fact that your weight was increased by hundreds of millions of times and Marty was several times more than that and what do you get?”

Marty excitedly raised her hand and Arc called on her.

“Yes, the woman.”

“You get a slow glider.”

“Correct. Care to expand?”

Marty’s smile only grew as she answered Arc like a teacher’s pet.

“On that world, our weight was increased by a ridiculous amount, and the glider could only take in so much divine energy due to the lack of it. However, now we not only weigh pretty much what we normally would add a few thousand pounds or so due to the gravity of this world but with the current divine energy on this world, the efficiency has increased thousands of times over. The real potential of the glider is now showing itself.”

*Clap clap clap*

Arc, to Kazuki’s shock, made a clapping noise. Arc was mimicking the wind in a similar fashion Kazuki would, using his aura.

“Arc, are you copying me?”

“Copying who? I simply learned the way you learned from the ape king Groud. Just because it is something you already know does not mean I am copying you.”

Kazuki smirked.

“My brother’s sword forms and now the mimicking of the elements with aura. Pretty soon you’ll be talking like me.”

“I would hit you right now but I’m growing tired of wasting energy on you now. Anyway. With the mass reduction of weight and the increased efficiency, this glider should not lose out to any of those other ships that run on Divine energy. So yeah, you’re welcome.”

Marty began thanking Arc more and more. She was already thankful and didn’t want to come off as crazy but this glider not only held sentimental value to her but she was now seeing it at its full power. A sense of adventure filled her heart and she could no longer wait. She grabbed Kazuki by the arm and pulled him onto the glider.

“What are we waiting for? Let’s see how fast my baby can go!”
