Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 65
(Simple, I took a core from the pile of junk you collected and copied over the inscriptions from the damaged one in this ship. Using that information this device filled in the blanks and rewrote the damaged parts and with these repaired inscriptions it placed it into the new core. With this new core, this Vajra ship should be as good as new.)
Kazuki was dumbfounded.
(Wait wait wait, how though? What even is this box you just made?)
The box Kazuki was referring to was more like half a box. It was like a metallic box cut directly down the middle.
(This box is a device that allows one to scan simple magic devices or tools. Inside there are small lights and heads that both detect and direct energy in a certain order. Using this small apparatus, this device can detect the inscriptions in a similar way that you or I would but beyond that, it has knowledge of all of these cores and can duplicate them to a near identical status. You and I can easily sense the inner workings of one of these cores but there is a big difference. While I can easily remove the soul marks from these divine cores, this is something the average demigod and even many Gods simply can not do. This box can do this and its efficiency is great. This alone would not make it stand out too much but its other main ability is extraordinary. It can scan a device and even if the inscription is damaged it will lay out exactly what is damaged and then show me what is supposed to be there instead. With a different core, I can use this copy box to paste the undamaged inscriptions and with the new information I can rewrite the previously damaged inscriptions, therefore, giving you a newly repaired core…so to speak.)
Kazuki was blown away by this. He could do something similar in a way. If he looked at something that only had a few inscriptions and only one or two parts were damaged, he could tell what the outcome of the magic device would be and fill in the damaged parts himself and rewrite the inscriptions, and repair it in that way. Arc of course could do the same but this was for simple magic tools. Something that had hundreds of billions of complicated inlaid, linked, and layered inscriptions were something Kazuki considered basically impossible.
(In order to rewrite a damaged inscription one needs to know exactly what was damaged. If you have no knowledge of what was there before, then it’s almost impossible to know what should go there or be replaced. Even attempting to try and fix it would most likely create more errors and one could easily break the entire inscription chain and damage it to an unrecoverable level. But this copy box as you called it is sort of like a vats database, an encyclopedia if you will when it comes to inscriptions. Even more than that, you’re saying it can tell exactly what the damaged art of an inscription is and know what needs to be replaced. The different number of combinations that magic inscriptions entail…It’s astronomical…Beyond that! There are already hundreds of billions of inscriptions within this core. If even one is out of place, the whole outcome of magic is thrown off and the core could be considered a dud at that point. How did you come up with this?)
Arc chuckled inwardly.
(I did not come up with it. As I said before there was an extensive amount of knowledge within the Ancient magitech you recovered. While you were playing around flying with Marty I was compiling and processing this information. Just now I decided to test it out. You had all of the parts inside your ring so I simply put them together and activated it. Not that hard. Once the copy box relayed the broken inscriptions to me, I simply filled this information in and inscribed it alongside the copy box onto the new core. By the way, I just said copy box, that is not what this device is called.)
(Hmm, what is it called then?)
(Estrivixzl745nanonianIV.)
Kazuki was silent for a moment before he blurted out in his head.
(That’s stupid.)
(I agree, so copy box?)
Kazuki gave a nod.
(Yeah.)
As this was happening, Simmons was staring at Kazuki in shock.
“My…my word, Sir Jentson, what did you do just now?”
Kazuki just shook his head.
“I can’t tell you, it’s a trade secret. You understand right?”
“Yes sir. It’s just incredible though. I’ve never known of someone that could fix a Vajra ship, at least not without a chorus of expert craftsmen and their workshop. Not only that but this would take weeks, possibly months to complete. Could you at least give me a small clue as to how you accomplished this Sir?”
Kazuki raised a brow. His soul reading ability was picking up a great hatred along with malice from Simmons. All of it was directed his way.
(The ship is fixed but this man is giving me false praise. He’s hiding ill intent behind that smile.)
(Hmm, I mentioned it earlier, the damaged core was ruined to a certain degree. I found it odd but nothing more than that. If you really are feeling such ill intent from him right after the ship is fixed, this leads me to believe there is more to the story.)
Kazuki agreed with Arc.
Kazuki smiled back before playing it off.
“Heh, as I said, I can’t divulge such things. Let’s head back out.”
Simmons turned to leave and the moment his back a single hair from Kazuki’s head fell silently and landed directly in the small room containing the divine core. Half a second later, the small room shut by itself, and its entrance was replaced by a magic wall.
Coming out of the ship, once more they were all on deck.
Samuel came over in an excited fashion.
“Simons I can feel it, the ship is working again!”
Simmons nodded, again with his soul reading ability Kazuki could sense anger directed toward him and now Marty.
“Yes, young master, Sir Jentson here has fixed the ship. It seems we will be on our way shortly. Sir Jentson is quite skilled.”
Samuel lifted his chin up.
“I expected as much. The way he and miss Marty defeated our enemies, I could tell they were skilled from the very beginning.”
Marty smiled before teasing Samuel.
“Oh really. What happened to that attitude from earlier? Now your all chummy chummy, huh, hehe?”
Samuel turned red for a moment before shaking his head.
“I’ll admit I can be arrogant at times but please don’t make fun.”
Kazuki could sense the kid was genuine which made him confused for a moment.
(Samuel came off as a shithead at the start but it seems that was just influenced by his status. In the end, he doesn’t seem to be a bad kid but Simmons on the other hand, he wishes to murder me.)
“So Samuel, who operates this ship. Surely a young master such as yourself wouldn’t be left with duties befitting of a servant, right?”
Samuel furrowed his brows.
“Sir Jentson, I get it, but I’m really not mean to my servants or mistreat them. I acted earlier n a manner not befitting the Cortail name. I was very anxious and on edge please understand. Now that the situation is under control, I am more composed. So can you two stop making fun of me? I can fly my own ship. ”
“Oh, so it’s you who usually flies the ship?”
Samuel became slightly red in the face again. He was embarrassed to admit it but he said it anyway.
“Nnno, It…I don’t tend to fly the ship. That is Simmons but I can if I wish to. I’ve only done it a few times but I do know how.”
“I’m not messing with you kid. I was just curious as to who usually flies the ship and has access to it, that’s all.”
Kazuki rubbed the kid’s head and Samuel immediately slapped it away.
“Sir please stop treating me like a kid and don’t call me kid. I am Samuel Cortail, the fourth son of the great merchant family. I have many responsibilities of great importance and am very mature.”
Kazuki wasn’t mad and understood. he felt kids should act like kids but this was not his world nor his kid so he nodded.
“Right, my bad. Those that act respectfully to me will in turn get my respect. Samuel is your name, I won’t forget. Shall we head out now or are we waiting for something?”
Samuel was a little happy that Kazuki was now treating him with respect and nodded.
“Simmons, you heard Sir Jentson, set the sails, let’s fly.”
Simmons gave another bow before calling out.
“All men to your stations, we leave without delay!”
Simmons waved his hand in the air and the ship responded to his will. Large white sails unfurled and the core began to supply energy to the ship. A silver light began to shine off of the sails before the sails opened up fully and the ship suddenly accelerated at hyper speed through the air.
