Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 70
Kazuki decided he would tell Samuel the truth about Simmons and why he had turned on him but first they needed to deal with oncoming enemies. From what he had gathered from Simmon’s memory, there was a second group coming in case the first ambush had failed.
Kazuki held out a hand.
“I’ll need more of that down payment right now. The Divine crystal, hand it over.”
Samuel didn’t know why Kazuki wanted this right now but he was no longer questioning Kazuki’s actions after things continued to be revealed. He promptly took out a divine crystal the size of a man’s fist. This crystal exuded pure energy and the color of which continuously changed from moment to moment on a whole spectrum.
Kazuki took it and tossed it to Marty.
“You might need to absorb that right now. The enemies will be here shortly.”
“Hmm, I guess I’ll have to oblige then hehe.”
Marty’s eyes shut and her power intertwined with the energy from the divine crystal. The very next moment all of the power inside of the divine crystal flowed into her and became a part of her power. At the same time, the divine crystal quickly melted away in her hand as if it were a piece of ice chucked into a blast furnace.
Marty’s smile grew wide as she felt her power return in full.
“This feeling…I’ve missed it.”
Marty then vanished from her spot and reappeared on the top deck of the flying ship. Her long silver sword was already in hand. With her Divine Soul Weapon, she was ready for whatever may come.
Kazuki plucked out another hair from his head and inlay within it several inscriptions turning it into a talisman. He threw it down onto Simmon’s still body and it instantly entered a nostril and expanded and stretched outward. It wrapped around every single organ and every single nerve, while also destroying his vocal cords.
Kazuki glared at him and warned the charred man only once.
“If you even dare try and move from that spot, you so much as lift a finger, and that strand of hair will shred all of your organs followed by your nerves. You will experience a pain unimaginable before my hair will finish you by destroying your soul.”
This was no bluff and Simmons could feel it. That single strand of hair inside of his body had more power in it than he had in his entirety. Simmons didn’t dare make a move, he didn’t even dare blink in fear of an excruciating death and destroyed soul.
Kazuki pat Simmons’s shoulder sending agony into him with a smile.
“Good boy.”
Kazuki then grabbed Samuel around the waist and took a single step forward. The two went from below deck to inside Samuel’s room in an instant. Kazuki set the boy down and left the room.
“Put up the barrier and no matter what happens, do not lower it. Only when I give the go-ahead and never before. Understand?”
Samuel nodded. He was afraid of what may come.
“Sir Jentson, will you and Lady Marty be alright?”
“Don’t worry about the two of us. Even if we can’t win we can still run away.”
Samuel’s expression went from fright to disbelief and Kazuki laughed.
“I’m messing with you. I’ve already agreed to protect you. I ain’t going anywhere, not without dragging your ass right alongside with me. Just stay inside the barrier and watch. I’ll return shortly.”
Kazuki shut the door behind him and Samuel raised the barrier around his room.
“Samuel, stop the ship and lower the ship’s barrier. Make it look like Simmons succeeded in his plot.”
Samuel controlled the Vajra ship with a thought. The ship’s barrier faded away but the one protecting the kid’s room remained. At the same time, the ship began to slow until finally, it stopped in mid-air. Floating silently in mid-air, the surroundings were eerily quiet. This caused the remaining crew to become terrified. They knew they were about to be attacked at any moment.
Knowing there was a danger that could appear at any time was fear-inducing. Is this the moment I die, or is it a second later or half a minute after that? These thoughts ran through many of the crew’s heads and they shook in their boots.
Kazuki stood next to Marty. He could feel that she coated her entire body in a thin layer of ki. With this, at first glance, she would appear to be a weakling. Hiding her divine energy in this way would allow for an element of surprise. A God would be able to see through her instantly but a Demigod would have to sense her properly to know she was hiding her power. Marty was banking on the fact that the enemies did not know that there was currently a demigod on board.
From Simmon’s memories, he hadn’t been able to relay any more information to his cohorts. Instead, there was already a plan in place just in case the first ambush had failed. If the second group did not hear from the first group in time, it would mean something went wrong and to come with the real forces.
Kazuki liked how Marty was using ki. It was coming to her more and more naturally and he had to admit she was talented.
Arc called out to the pair.
(It seems you’ll have a few fun guests. In about half a minute the enemies will arrive. There are four demigods coming this time. Along with them are several thousand weaklings. Do with that information as you will.)
(Thank ya Arc.)
Even hearing that there would be four demigods, Marty wasn’t the least bit nervous. She was filled with confidence due to her power returning along with her new ability to manipulate ki, she was looking forward to the fight.
(Four demigods huh? Let’s see how they like this.)
Kazuki opened his ring and a few thousand mucus needles appeared around him. He had more than a hundred thousand of them at the start but after everything that happened, including his other weapons, this was all that remained. Well, that and a small bit of unused mucus sitting in his ring.
The needles began rotating around him at high speed until they could no longer be seen with the naked eye. Now that he could use magic again in combination with his other powers, these needles became far more dangerous than when he was on the decaying eye of the Ancient one.
Just as Arc had said, half a minute later several thousand beings arrived in the sky. Kazuki immediately found the situation funny. Arc had said it was four demigods followed by several thousand weaklings. These several thousand weaklings were all at the 6th and 7th stages. If Kazuki were a normal Convergence stage being, this sight would leave him dreading what would happen next but Kazuki was no ordinary 7th stage being.
These people all surrounded the ship, encircling them in an instant. The four demigods stood in the air and each one scanned over those that were left on the ship. Very quickly they all grew confident.
“I was wondering what had happened since the first group had failed but it seems Vecriss was sloppy. For him to actually fail they must have gotten lucky. This is the last of their group, Let’s end this now and claim the prize.”
A large man with two long horns atop his head spoke with a bored expression. The other three demigods all nodded in agreement. They didn’t even pull out their soul weapons nor use their aura to suppress their opponents. They completely looked down on their opponents and this would be a costly and fatal mistake. The one leading them raised a hand before throwing it down as he called out.
“Kill everyone but the boy.”
As soon as he said this, the thousands of warriors rushed forward with weapons in hand. All of the crew members on board were terrified but Kazuki just sighed inwardly.
(Fools.)
The needles flew around him faster than the eye could see, suddenly with a thought, they all shot outward in seemingly every direction. These needles were tough enough to penetrate the flesh of the Sank King with some difficulty and easily pierce through demigods. These warriors rushed in head first without hesitation. All of a sudden they all went limp at once and like raindrops, they all fell to the ground below. They were dead long before they ever hit the ground.
The crew saw this and their eyes went wide in shock. They did not understand what had just happened. Even a few of the Demigods were completely unaware of what had just taken place. Before any of them could react to what they just witnessed, Marty had filled her body with ki and With her aura and Kazuki giving her a push forward with his own aura, she moved through the air as if she was a part of it.
One second she was aboard the ship, the very next she was next to one of the demigods slashing with her silver sword with no resistance. The one leading them had a change in expression as he warned.
“DODGE IT!”
