Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 72

Kazuki had just defeated a Demigod and the others stared in shock. The remaining enemies recognized that something was incredibly wrong here and their thoughts had changed. It went from, kill all of these weak fools and snatching the boy, to, we need to get the fuck out of here. Marty was already out of their league but now a 7th stage, Kazuki, he had done what they thought was impossible. He had closed the gap between sky and ground and overcome was should not be overcome.

At the very least they needed to retreat and figure out what was going on before they lose what cannot be lost.

The two Demigods turned tail and without hesitation, they bolted. The one leading them pulled out a small Vajra ship, it was shaped like a sword and was no bigger than a small fishing boat. Its speed though was much quicker than his own and he quickly vanished into the distance.

(Jentson, I’ve got this one, kill the other.)

Marty’s ring flashed and her black glider appeared beneath her feet. The divine core within roared out and she left a trail of light behind as she raced forward several times faster than her fleeing enemy.

Marty could have killed the other Demigod who she had slashed with her sword but she decided to purposely leave him for Kazuki. From what she experienced back on the decaying eye world, she knew Kazuki was somehow growing stronger after each kill. She did not know how such a thing was possible but Kazuki was her friend so she no longer questioned it. She felt if he ever wished to tell her, then he would do so in his own time.

Kazuki nodded before giving chase. He went after the axe wielder who used water and ice. After killing the other Demigod Kazuki did absorb part of his soul with his soul reading ability. Because of this, he felt his power grow slightly. It could not be compared to the Sand king but it was still an improvement.

Kazuki jumped off the ship.

(Samuel, remember do not release your barrier until I return and say.)

Samuel could not communicate through the mind like Kazuki so he just answered out loud.

“Yes Sir Jentson. I will await your victorious return.”

Kazuki nodded before bright flames erupted beneath his feet. Once more in the center of the flames, a tiny golden flame was surrounded by bluish-white fire. Kazuki accelerated forward like a shooting star. This speed was incredible but he could also feel that something was off. For now, though he ignored that off feeling as he quickly caught up with his enemy.

Several million miles were covered in an instant but the axe fighter did not slow. He looked back and was both confused and terrified.

“DON’t COme aNY cLOser you FREAK!”

His words were a mix of anger and panic. Without hesitation, he swung his axe behind him, and a wave of frozen ice more than a hundred feet high and thousands of miles across raced toward Kazuki.

Kazuki saw this and smiled with a devilish grin. His needles rotated around his body at high speed before he drilled straight through this tsunami-like ice wall with absolutely no resistance. Kazuki could feel that this ice was so cold it could freeze anything in its path at the 7th stage and below but this cold had no effect on Kazuki. Not for his evolved tough flesh. This bit of cold felt almost lukewarm to him.

The axe fighter saw this and his confusion and terror only climbed.

“NO, STAY AWAY!”

Kazuki chuckled.

“Ok I’ll stop.”

The axe fighter heard this and looked back in shock.

“R…Really!?”

Kazuki’s smile grew.

“Of course not.”

Kazuki then changed the gravity around his body and used his aura to mimic the wind. His speed that was already clearly gaining on his opponent only increased at an even more drastic rate and he vanished. The axe fighter was dumbfounded. A 7th stage had actually moved so fast that he could not track the movement.

Suddenly Kazuki appeared above him and came down with a heel kick. This Kick contained such strength and combined with Kazuki’s incredibly tough flesh. His foot took the demigod’s head off with a single strike. The Demigod’s eyes went wide but he was not ready to give up. He took his axe and threw it with all of his strength. Kazuki already knew what he was attempting and sent his needles chasing. Just as before, Kazuki opened his palm and powerful flames came roaring out as they consumed his foe’s body.

The moment his enemy died, Kazuki activated the spinning void within and devoured this demigod. Kazuki felt more power grow within and he smiled. A fraction of a second later, his needles destroyed the axe soul weapon before they raced back to him. Another Demigod had fallen.

Kazuki relished in this strength but only for a split second before he raced back to Samuel’s ship.

Kazuki landed back on the ship and Samuel’s barrier was still intact. The remaining crew watched him land with stunned expressions and they began to whisper amongst one another.

“He’s back already but he went to fight that Demigod.”

“It couldn’t be, did he manage to kill a Demigod…again!?”

“Nonsense! The first one must have been a fluke I mean even his comrade had gone after the other enemy but she has yet to return. Sir Jentson’s enemy must have seen he had no chance against Lady Marty and decided to escape. Since Sir Jentson is still at the 7th stage, there’s no possible way he could have caught up with a Demigod, let alone kill it.”

Kazuki shook his head.

A few had witnessed his first kill but most hadn’t since his needles had moved that fast. They thought some how that Marty was involved. Kazuki felt no need to explain the truth and just waited for Marty’s return. Kazuki had arrived less than a minute ago and when that minute was finally up, Marty touched down atop the deck.

“Damn, I thought with my glider I would have returned first. So ya killed him already huh?”

Kazuki gave a nod, which in return caused an uproar among the crew. They couldn’t believe Kazuki was speaking the truth but none would dare call him on it. Even if they did not believe he could beat a demigod, they had witnessed him kill many 7th-stage beings with ease, so they did not wish to get on his bad side.

“Hmph, no doubt it’s because I already injured that weakling. That’s why you killed him so easily. Not only that but I had to chase that guy with the weird sword ship, so it’s not really fair.”

“Oh, Since when did you give such excuses? Plus your glider was way faster than that guy’s ship right and it’s definitely faster than my flying speed. If you killed your opponent instantly, you would have beaten me back. It looks like I was just faster in the kill and you were a bit too slow, hehe.”

Kazuki was laughing at Marty and Marty pulled out the sword ship that the enemy had escaped on.

“Making fun of me. And here I was going to gift ya this weird sword ship because ya still ain’t got a ride. Now I’m questioning our friendship.”

The two stared at one another before they both laughed and Marty tossed him the sword.

The sword was flat and wide and was the size of a small boat. With Kazuki’s strength though he could easily wield it as if it were an actual sword but he could tell it was pretty fragile compared to a soul weapon or his needles. It was something that was a lot faster than his current flying speed so he was still happy to have it anyway.

“So how does one use this thing?”

“First put a drop of blood on it to make it yours. Without an owner now, this will belong to whoever gives it some blood. After that, sink your aura into it and the knowledge will naturally flow into you.”

Kazuki did just that. With a drop of blood on the blade, the sword absorbed it as if it were a sponge. Sending his aura into the sword, a flow of information came back and he understood how to control this small sword ship.

“Thank you for the gift.”

Marty punched Kazuki in the arm.

“What thank you. Aren’t we past that at this point? Ya help me and I help you, no need for thankyous, not between friends.”

Kazuki nodded.

“Sir Jentson, Lady Marty you’ve returned so may I come out now?”

Kazuki was caught up in his new ship and almost forgot about Samuel.

“Yeah, you can lower the barrier and come out.”

Samuel came out and looked at Kazuki’s new sword.

“Sir Jentson, that sword ship. No more than that, The way Lady Marty destroyed those villains and the way Sir Jentson dispatched that Demigod. I’ve never heard of someone at the Convergence stage being capable of killing a Demigod. What powerful combat ability what mysterious powers were you blessed with?”

Samuel began to praise and question Kazuki’s mysterious strength. Every few sentences he would bring Marty back into the conversation and he was genuinely in awe and admiration of the pair of them.

Kazuki backed out of the conversation and left it to Marty who liked talking about this sort of thing. Meanwhile, Kazuki collected all of the corpses of the enemies that had fallen to the ground below along with their storage rings.

(Arc, While fighting earlier it felt like something was off. Even though I was traveling at my fastest speed, it was far less than my speed in a Lower Realm. Not only that but my power does not seem to affect the world and cause as much destruction as it does in a Lower Realm. Do you have any idea why?)
