Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 78
He saw the pairs everything. Every moment every memory and with his soul-reading ability he could even tell exactly how they felt at said moments. With this, he could tell their personalities and attitudes from the get-go. He could even predict certain paths they might take depending on a few based variables and simple situations.
The woman was called Chaka and the older male was named Bersik. Kazuki could read them so well he even knew they were worried about Simmons with a glance but were too afraid to ask.
Bersik bowed before asking.
“Young master, where is the rest of the crew, and these two guests are…?”
Samuel’s expression saddened.
“We were betrayed and ambushed. What you see before you is what’s left. The traitor was Simmons and he like you is now a slave so you need not respect or follow his orders anymore. As for these two.”
Samuel’s expression lightened when he looked at Marty and Kazuki before introducing the pair.
“This Lady Marty, she is a powerful Demigod who has expansive knowledge on many subjects. Next to her is Sir Jentson. He too is extraordinarily strong and although he comes from the Lower Realms, do not dare look down upon him. It’s only because of these two that not only I but the last bit of my men managed to survive. These two are my benefactors and are protecting me.”
Chaka and Bersik were still cautious but both were genuinely thankful to Kazuki and Marty.
“Savior, thank you for saving the young master, Without you, Master would be no more and our worlds would collapse.”
Chaka as well spoke but her voice was a bit soft.
“Th…thank you, benefactors. Please, would you all come inside?”
Everyone headed in.
(Hehe, are ya jealous? I am the powerful and knowledgeable demigod and you are some guy from the Lower Realms.)
(Why would I be jealous of an old lady?)
Marty’s mouth fell open and she punched him in the arm.
(Jentson ya old young dog. Ya, sure now how to cut deep. How can ya say that, just look at this beautiful face? Not a single wrinkle.)
After Marty absorbed the energy from the Divine crystal Samuel had offered as a down payment, Marty’s youthful appearance returned to full. Kazuki just smiled, leaving her standing there. Marty chased after him giving him an ear full.
Walking into the shop, it looked standard, to say the least. The only real difference was the equipment hanging along the walls. Each weapon, and each piece of armor emitted power. Kazuki sent out his aura and inspected every piece. These pieces of equipment were made with purpose. For example, some emitted an icy aura and were filled with inscriptions dealing with the element of water.
(These are most likely made to deal with and counter one’s foe. Most beings can’t use every element freely and would need to rely on tools and the like in order to materialize these magics.)
Arc chimed in.
(True. Glacious was an exception to this rule. Your former senior could wield every element and was quite masterful. Even you are an exception. The way you can mimic the elements with your aura is no simple feat. Well If I were to try, I could easily replicate it but most others definitely could not. It takes true comprehension to accomplish. These tools are for those that have none or very little of these elements in their core.)
Kazuki rolled his eyes at Arc’s…humble attitude. At the same time, Kazuki knew how unique Glacious was, even among the dragon race who is exceptionally talented when it comes to magic. From the memories he absorbed from Glacious’s magic blood orb, Kazuki knew that most of the dragons from Glacious’s clan had multiple elements they could use. Most were at least capable of using three. Glacious though was above them all and could use all eight.
Besides the weapons and armor, there were many other tools and trinkets with unique abilities. These though did not pique much interest from Kazuki because he could replicate all of these abilities on his own. With what he received from Glacious as well as his own monstrous comprehensive ability, it was not difficult, rather it was quite easy to see through and understand each and every one of these pieces.
Kazuki didn’t care about any of these things and neither did Marty. She was interested in relics of the past and Vajra ships. These things that represented mere copies of others’ abilities held no meaning to her.
There was a single item though that did intrigue them but at this time, neither had yet to witness it.
As they walked through the shop, Chaka showed them around here and there and pointed out everything she thought they might fancy. In her eyes, though all she saw from the two was boredom. She quickly ran over and grabbed something she thought was truly special. A magic flute.
“This here is a monster flute. With it, one can manipulate the senses and send their enemies into confusion. What do the benefactors think, impressive right.”
Kazuki and Marty were both surprised. Not by the flute but by how quickly Chaka’s personality changed. It seemed that she was intimidated around others but when it came to her territory and doing what she knew, there was a sort of confidence about her.
Kazuki held the flute but it wasn’t anything impressive. With a bit of flashing light at a certain frequency, he could achieve the same effect. This flute could confuse an enemy but only if they were below the fourth stage. Meanwhile, Kazuki could recreate the same effect but his technique could work on enemies at the same stage as he. The only reason he didn’t do this type of attack was because he was confident he could slay any enemy at his stage in less time. There was no need to confuse an enemy that could not keep up with one’s speed or strength.
Handing it back to her he shook his head.
“So is this the best your shop has to offer Samuel.”
Samuel could feel the disappointment in Kazuki’s voice.
“I know what you’re trying to say. In a poor city like this, the ones who could afford the good stuff would not buy from here anyway but from wealthier cities where the quality of products only goes up. The usual customers are those at the 7th stage and below. Demigods rarely need such equipment and Gods almost never. This is how it has been but now things will soon change. Shall we head to my office? There’s something I want to show you two and I’m sure you two have been expecting it.”
“The new weapon?”
Samuel nodded.
“Please come with me, I’d rather not display it so openly until you two have already shown our enemies a bit of your power. I want them to get the hint so that they’ll know any future endeavors or attempts on me will be met with swift backlash.”
Samuel had just finished his words when a shout rang out in front of his shop.
“SO THE LITTLE BRAT HAS ARRIVED!”
Samuel sighed as he recognized the voice.
“That would be Signy.”
Kazuki and Marty already had these memories from Simmons and knew the owner of this voice.
“Your main competitor’s right-hand man. Your enemies sure do act quickly. Jentson, shall we?”
Kazuki gave a nod before the two headed out the door. Kazuki made Samuel stay inside at the entrance.
As soon as the two stepped out, there was already a crowd of people. They had come over to see what the commotion was and was interested in the scene.
Standing across from them was a group of people. Each one had a rough appearance. The only ones without such an appearance were the three standing front and center. Two women and one man. The man was tall and built like a bear. His eyes were black as night and he had fur covering his entirety. The women at his side were both beauties and looked bored already.
All three were Demigods.
“So these two are your new dogs. The shitty brat doesn’t even have the balls to appear before me. Does the Cortail family have no honor anymore? Pathetic!”
The tall man at the center was already trying to provoke them. Samuel glared but he said not a word as he looked to Kazuki and Marty.
Marty shook her head with a playful smile.
“All this shouting. Isn’t it you who’s the dog with all of that unnecessary barking?”
The man’s looked changed but before he could retort, Kazuki chimed in half a second after Marty.
“No no no, you see a dog while all I see are three mangey bitches.”
The women at Signy’s side and Signy himself went wide-eyed. All three could tell immediately that Kazuki was only at the 7th stage yet he was this provoking. Was he not courting his own death?
