Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 95
(The weak human has already made his choice. Give up now or suffer.)
The fur Gods seemed to be at a complete standstill but the way Viz spoke, he seemed to have something else up his sleeve. Sasha was already greatly annoyed. She did not wish to become enemies with Viz. She understood his strength best among her allies.
(Lestirius, Olresth, I think it’d be best if we end things now. Viz has also set his sights on this fighter. Any more and we’ll lose more than a small amount of our reputation.)
Olresth grumbled but kept his thoughts to himself but Lestirius was furious.
(You vile woman. I claimed him first and you interfered. If not for you, Jentson would already be mine and now after you starting shit, you wish to back away with no consequences. Look around! With all these witnesses if we back down now, we will lose our reputation but there is no guarantee that Viz will win this contest. Stay strong and we will push him back.)
(You expect me to help you right after you called me vile. Not only that you did not make any claims but rather demands. In the end, Jentson is free to choose who he will follow. We can make all the threats we want but that will just invite disaster later. A man can only be so loyal with a blade pointed at his neck. More than that, do you really think we can best Viz. Look at him, He is still competing with us and is no less even though he is facing three at once. We must back down.)
(Sasha, you speak of loyalty but do you not carry a blade yourself? This feels like a dagger in my back and Olresth say something dammit! After stepping down, do not become a coward now.)
Olresth lazily glanced at Lestirius.
(Do you truly believe that I of all people am a coward? Right now, you are blinded. Look at what you are fighting for. A 7th stage with a little more talent than others. Is this worth our attention at all? Damn, how did I let you drag me into this? I agree with Sasha. If we back out now, we can save most of our reputation and sweep it under the rug but if we continue and we lose anyway, we will be laughed at by others. You know how many wish for us to fall, how they spoke of us never making it down the line. Look how far we’ve come. Are we going to throw it all away over one 7th-stage brat? Do not pull us down further Lestirius, think!)
Lestirius glanced at Kazuki. He did get too involved. The moment Viz interfered that should have been a clear sign to step away but Lestirius did not wish to seem weak.
Lestirius grit his teeth and glared at Viz.
(Viz, you’ve made your point. This is still my business, leave and we three won’t press things further.)
Viz smirked at Lestirius.
(Leave…But I’m just starting to have fun. Maybe I should stay a little while longer and see how far things will go. I didn’t care for a fight earlier but now that things have come this far, I wouldn’t mind having a bit of fun.)
(Damn you! I’m serious. Leave my arena or else.)
Viz’s grin only grew wider and he took a single step forward. His aura grew more and he was clearly pushing the three Gods backward inch by inch. A domineering air filled the entire arena and it became difficult to breathe for anyone that wasn’t a God.
(Or else what Lestirius. What can you do to me?)
Lestirius was under intense pressure but he was not stupid. He took a look at Kazuki and Kazuki felt a chill run down his spine.
(You stepped in for that weakling. You may be powerful but even you can not defend that human against three Gods. With a mere thought, I can wipe his existence from the universe. Since you interfered, you must want something from him, right? Leave or I will personally separate his head from his shoulders. Then you can have your fun fight. See if any of us will engage. You will never catch us.)
Viz inhaled deeply before letting out a deep sigh.
(Are you really so afraid of me, heh. Very well.)
Viz pulled his power back and so to did the other three. With their aura’s pulled back, everyone could suddenly breathe again and took in large gulps of fresh air as if they had tasted the sweetest thing in their entire lives.
Everyone was curious as to what the hell was going on. It looked like they were on the verge of coming to blows, the very next minute, they had pulled their power back.
Samuel and Marty who were nearby were both concerned but they still did not dare make any sudden movements. Kazuki knew they were worried and gave the pair a thumbs up. His voice entered Marty’s mind reassuring her. He would have done the same for Samuel but it was too dangerous for someone at his lower stage to take such power directly into his mind.
Viz stood center stage and announced to the crowd.
“I…Viz…From this day forth have taken a stake in Cortail Merchant Shop. Anyone daring to try and harass or harm anybody of that shop will face me. UNDERSTOOD!?”
Viz said this last part with such force that it frightened nearly everyone there. Only a few Gods who remained unmoved in the audience gave a slight nod while the rest of the crowd nodded like good little pups. At the same time, this brought even more confusion. Viz had clearly said he had taken a stake in the shop but he did not mention taking Kazuki as a slave or servant. Viz’s words were clear. This meant Kazuki was still a freeman.
The people here were completely confused as to why Viz stepped in and stopped other Gods from pressuring Kazuki into serving them while at the same time not taking Kazuki in as his very own servant. Many people wondered why he did all of that just to not have Kazuki serve him. Those that were wiser saw something deeper in this. For Viz to not take Kazuki as a servant but say he had taken part ownership of the Cortail Shop. This was a sort of declaration not only not to mess with those that were a part of the place but also not to interfere in his business as well.
Now a few wiser people were ever curious as to what was going on with the Crotail Shop that a God with no connection to said sho[ would take such an interest as to go against other Gods.
The moment they came to this conclusion, many Gods vanished from the arena and went to go look into a few things. They could smell a gold mine with all of these clues and would not sit idly by while others got a piece of the pie.
Samuel and Marty as well were shocked but still had to hold their tongue.
Lestirius was enraged.
(You did not even take him in as your servant yet you stood in front of me for what, a piece of a fucking shop. You…Did you really do this for a piece of a business or did you do this to try and humiliate me!?)
Viz didn’t answer him and just smiled before turning to walk away. Sasha laughed seeing this and appeared in front of him in a puff of black smoke.
“Viz…How devious. if you wanted to get my attention, there were other ways to go about this instead of this little stunt.”
Viz shook his head.
“Stop misreading signals that do not exist woman. Now move.”
Sasha remained in place.
“Come now, you know you wish to have a bite. Stop playing coy and just admit it. I’ll gladly give you a taste.”
Viz ignored her and just walked forward. His body passed through her as she turned into a cloud of smoke. She reformed once more with a disappointed expression.
“Viz…Do not ignore me. You will belong to me, mark my words.”
“Consider them marked, now if you’ll excuse me, I still have business to attend to.”
Sasha grew annoyed at his uncaring attitude. Just as she was at a loss on what to do, Viz suddenly turned back.
“Oh, that’s right. Jentson here won his fight. Shouldn’t you pay up? We would go and collect it directly from your vault but I’m sure Lestirius wishes us to leave as soon as possible.”
Lestirius’s eyes widened in hatred. At the same time, if he did not pay up, this would also affect his reputation. Still, to hand over anything to Viz’s side, made his stomach twist in knots at just the thought of it.
Sasha though was not angry and gladly obliged.
Her aura stretched forth and she got the total of the bet in an instant. She saw the amount and smiled.
“Hmm, to make so much off of us on your very first fight. Now I wish to have you even more. Hey, boy. If I were to give you double, no let’s say triple, would you like to come and stay with me? One night in heaven, hehehe, how does that sound?”
Kazuki cupped his fists and bowed slightly.
“I’m sorry but as Viz has said, we have business to attend to. Maybe some other time.”
Sasha smiled. Her hand opened and Kazuki’s badge flew into her palm in an instant. It was opened and the crystals were transferred in a fraction of a second and it was returned.
“See Viz, now that is how you should respond to me. I like your little friend here. Not as much as you of course but having both of you would surely be better than having only one.”
Sasha licked her lips lustfully. Viz just shook his head before he took a step into the air. The moment he did this, his power surrounded Kazuki, Marty, and Samuel and he pulled them into the sky with him before he and the rest all disappeared from sight.
Sasha chuckled lightly before she too disappeared into a puff of smoke. Lestirius on the other hand felt his insides boil in rage.
(This is not over Viz. I will not forget this humiliation.)
