Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 116
As time flowed by, Kazuki noticed the Origin seed inside his soul tree shrink. He came to the conclusion that although time was stretched to unbelievable levels, it was anything but infinite.
(My time inside my Soul world had increased drastically. I thought I had more influence over how long it could last but it appears that the small amount of Origin energy I accidentally absorbed is the source of this extension of time. If I run out of it, seconds in the real world would no longer equal millions inside of my Soul world. Without Origin energy, my time inside of my Soul world would most likely revert back to years and decades.)
Kazuki was amazed at the difference between his own abilities and how much they would be amplified with the aid of Origin energy. All of this because he fused with a piece of Arc.
Kazuki slowly stood up and looked at the beam of black death. He had been inside of his Soul world for just over 2 million years or rather the equivalent of that. In the outside world, only a fraction of a second had gone by.
(To think I was terrified of this energy. Now…I see through it completely.)
After spending millions of years with this beam of dark energy, Kazuki had endured excruciating pain every single day. Thousands upon thousands of times he would come into contact with the black beam each and every day. Every single time it would tear at his soul and mind. This dark energy even made him experience things that simply weren’t real.
It warped his mind and made him believe he had an actual body in this place. He could feel everything as his body, just like his mind and soul were ripped to shreds all day every day.
(This energy is similar to Origin energy but it’s not the real deal, merely a knockoff. In certain hands, this can be a powerful tool, the missing piece controlling said power is evidence enough of just how cruel and deadly it can be. At the same time, it’s not actual Origin energy so there are limitations. It makes me wonder, why did Arc’s missing piece use this energy, why not use Origin energy instead.)
Kazuki had observed this deadly beam for millions of years and one thing continually screamed out at him.
The fact that this strange energy was being used by an Artifact at all over Origin energy. It made no sense in Kauzki’s mind. Why would one settle for something that was inferior he wondered.
(Unless…Did the missing piece simply have no choice but to use this weird energy?)
Kazuki wished to think on this deeper but the Origin energy he had absorbed oh so long ago was almost entirely used up. With it, the flow of time would return to normal or close to it.
Kazuki walked toward his Soul tree and placed a hand on it. He then looked back at the dark energy beam that had inched its way forward by more than two feet. It was eerily close to his soul tree. Kauzki’s eyes began to glow with bright light as he cranked out an insane smile.
(It’s taken you two million years for you to deliver death onto me. I still have not mastered this energy but…I have learned more than anyone else under these conditions. So let us see who will win in the end. A mere knockoff of Origin energy or the man who’s endured your oppression and pain and still carried on.)
With a thought, Kazuki allowed time to flow normally within his soul world.
The dark beam of energy without hesitation moved faster than light and slammed into Kazuki’s soul tree with a force of violence Kauzki had never felt before. There was no equal to it and this power held nothing back.
At the same time, Kazuki activated the spinning void at the base of his soul tree, it was connected to not only him but the Origin seed buried in the depths of his soul tree.
Every ounce of devilish power that struck his soul tree, was instantly rerouted and moved on a path he decided.
This path of course went straight to the spinning void. Kazuki still did not have full mastery over this power so nearly half of it spread through his soul like a corruptive tidal wave of acid. It burned away at his soul destroying it in every direction it traveled.
The pain was much more intense than what he had taken over the years simply due to the fact that more of his soul was exposed to this devastating dark energy.
Kazuki though had prepared for this. The pain he felt right now, yes it was far greater than any he’d ever experienced but it was a pain he merely needs endure for a split second.
A burning flame was alight in his eyes as he called out to the spinning void within.
(DEVOUR!)
The spinning void at the base of his soul tree spun like a godly hurricane. As half of the energy destroyed his soul and split his soul tree down the middle, the other half was sucked into the spinning void without exception. It pulsed with a mighty force. Cracks spread across the boundaries of his spinning void as it had never handled this much excessive energy.
Kazuki’s entire soul world began to vibrate and shake violently. His soul world was on the verge of imploding and with it, his existence would be no more.
The sky in his soul world ruptured and tore, and the ground opened up with an endless trench. Everything was falling apart but Kazuki did not even notice it. Instead, his entire focus was on enduring the pain whilst also calling out in his mind. Over and over again he said one word.
(DEVOUR! DEVOURRRR! DEVOURRRRRRRRRRRRRR!)
He roared within his mind and the shaking only grew. His soul tree came crashing down and all light began to fade. Kazuki’s mind as well began to blacken with a veil of darkness.
He still repeated that one word again and again. The pain, his soul tree, his soul world, everything all at once was on the verge of fading away into nothingness. The light grew dimmer and dimmer and all became silent. Kazuki, and everything that was him… it dissap
The spinning void at the exact moment Kazuki seemed to have vanished, an energy so pure it could cleanse the void of darkness sank into a tiny fragment that remained. This fragment was at the center of his Soul tree the part that he had received from Arc and had become his.
…
…
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
An explosion erupted as this energy entered this last fragment of Kazuki and instantly his Soul world reformed.
The explosion was so powerful inside his Soul world that a part of it actually became tangible in the real world. The silent tunnel inside the black pyramid, for one single moment, echoed with a loud thunderous boom.
Inside his soul world, as if time reversed, his soul world returned anew. The sky was repaired and the ground closed. His soul tree regrew but instead of a golden hue, it grew into a mass of darkness. A large purplish-black Soul tree took the place of what once was. It had fundamentally changed and with it, his soul had changed greatly as well.
Within his soul tree, that same Origin seed of power remained and it was still connected like a thread to his spinning void. Kazukis consciousness returned to him and he knew right away what happened. His entire soul world, it had been destroyed. If not for the Origin seed of energy and the last part of him that is part Artifact, he would have met his permanent end there and then.
If the spinning void did not receive that outside power, and it wasn’t connected to his seed of Origin, he would also not have made it.
(There are too many factors that if not fulfilled properly, would have meant my existence fading away entirely and forever. The dark beam of energy that destroyed me, also saved me, the part of me that is Artifact saved me, the Origin seed that connects to my spinning void saved me and my spinning void took in that energy and spat it back out for me to absorb, this saved me as well. So many things could have gone wrong and yet…Here I am.)
A stupid smile spread across Kazuki’s face.
He could feel his soul still growing stronger and stronger as it continued absorbing the dark energy from his spinning void.
Kazuki no longer need fear this dark energy.
With a thought, a new body formed instantly, and with another, his scattered items and his comrades returned to him.
As he clasped his hand into a fist, he was amazed to find his body had a small change.
He had made it how he usually would but it for some reason he had a long streak of white hair running down the left side of his head.
He found this quite odd and realized it was an unconscious influence from himself. The cause was the millions of years of torture he endured. This streak of white hair, it was a reminder of what he suffered. It was as if his mind soul and body would not let him forget what he had been through to come back from death.
Kazuki chuckled inwardly before he put foot to ground, and rushed ahead with Fleck and the others. He still had business to attend to.
