Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 121
As soon as Gardius sealed the Artifact behind a barrier, the element of space fluctuated greatly. It was this disruption in space that allowed a particular opportunity.
The entire black pyramid began to tremble as loud thunderous explosions echoed out from a far side. The second these explosions rang out Gardius already knew what was coming. He aimed his open palms at the direction the sounds were coming from and without hesitating his ring flashed and 5 different elements fused into one before shooting out towards the incoming sound.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
Half of the Pyramid was blown apart and the blast caused the world to crack. With the artifact sealed, it was also affecting the world and its suppression.
The explosion caused the air to implode and the elements in the world seemed to react to this explosion and were torn asunder. The sky lit up with a blinding light and a rolling thunder spread out across the world until it circled back and hit again with another thunderous sound.
Several volcanoes continuously erupted in a chain reaction and storms kicked up with enough force to rip several Lower realms to pieces.
With this much power, Chaotic space should have torn across the entirety of the BVlack gate but because Gardius had his own personal seal over this green world, space did not tear, it could not tear.
Kazuki took note of all of this.
(He used that ring once again and space refused to tear apart. Not only does it manipulate many different energies but the seals he placed can even prevent Chaotic space from tearing. Even after an attack like that and he still shows not a single sign of exhaustion. That ring is both amplifying the energy inside of him but also it’s giving him a constant source of energy. With this much energy, it’s almost as if it’s infinite.)
Kazuki did not wish to believe his enemy had an infinite amount of energy but the evidence was quickly stacking in that direction. Even if that wasn’t the case, Kazuki knew it was better to assume this theory was correct in his current situation than assume the opposite.
(Even if it’s not infinite, he has enough energy to most likely outlast everyone here. At the very least, If I cannot access Chaotic space, my supply f energy will run out eventually as well. DAMN!)
This situation was similar to when he faced the SHadow within Satruss city. Because of the city’s defenses, a barrier surrounded the entire city and he could not open Chaotic space to draw from.
(I already knew I couldn’t tear open Chaotic space but I figured with the amount of Divine crystal I currently have, I would have energy to spend and then some. If he has a never-ending source or anywhere near it, I will not outlast him.)
Kazuki had originally been trying to buy time so that at some point Arc would respond and claim the treasure but that was taking far too long. He then changed tactics and was poised to go after the Artifact on his own but now with it sealed away, his plan had been tossed into the dirt and he needed something new.
As he was thinking about what to do next, Gardius’s cold voice echoed all around.
“I was wondering who it was. After I slaughtered your little team and even allowed you to escape, you come back with this little rag-tag group of weaklings and a traitorous dog. I showed you mercy and you repay that by showing your insignificant faces. I guess one lesson was not enough.”
Gardius glared across the sky and released his devastating aura. It brought excessively heavy pressure upon the unexpected guests.
With it, three Gods hidden in the smoke-filled sky released their own pressure to counter his. The pressure from these four going at it caused all the wind to separate and push apart, effectively clearing the skies.
When the skies cleared, the guests all came into view. Most of them Kazuki was unfamiliar with. Standing in the skies, there were at least four Supreme Gods though with his senses Kazuki could tell one was far weaker than the rest.
A tall woman stood atop a long thin Vajra ship with a barrier. On board, the ship to his surprise Kazuki spotted the short dragon-born woman, Carta. She had a pale face and seemed to still not have recovered fully from the soul damage she endured. Next to her was Dredinkar the grey six-armed tree folk. Kazuki and Dredinkar instantly noticed one another and Dredinkar wore a terrible expression.
(I thought you two had escaped this place, what happened?)
Dredinkar sighed inwardly.
(That was the plan but unfortunately, the moment I tried to escape, that bastard’s seal closed over this entire world. I ran into these others and they wanted to kill me at first but They allowed me to live when I told them there was another potential ally trapped in this place. I’m sorry I did not wish to tell them about you but if not, they would have killed me and Carta thinking we may plot against them. They brought us along as both hostages and chips to negotiate with. They want you to fight with them. Even after you helped us I betrayed your trust, please forgive me.)
Kazuki felt there was nothing to forgive. The information Dredinkar knew about him wasn’t something he was particularly trying to hide. At the same time, he understood the man’s situation.
(Forget it, there’s nothing to be done now but if we make it out alive, I expect compensation to be paid in full.)
Dredinkar could not argue as he followed Kauzki’s eyes to the white blank card he held in his possession. He couldn’t help but tremble at Kazuki’s greed.
After a moment of the four Supreme Gods pushing back and forth with their auras, the tension in the air and the energy within their auras caused an explosion.
The three Supreme Gods were pushed back nearly 30 feet in the air while Gardius was pushed back merely half a step. He smiled confidently before he slowly rose into the sky to meet them at eye level.
He scanned over them and nodded.
“Stasha you ran before I fought with the other supremes because you knew what waited if you were to face me. You fleeing before battle, I allowed it, and yet you stand aboard your ship without showing the proper respect to the man who let you live. At the very least you could lower your barrier and step out to speak with me.”
Stasha remained aboard her ship.
“You think me a fool! The moment I lower this barrier, I will be the first killed. You know what my ship is capable of. You are overconfident and actually messed with space allowing me to take out my ship. I’ll let you know now, I may fear your strength outside this ship but so long as I remain aboard here, there is not a God who can touch a hair upon my head. Instead, it would be better if we don’t fight and you simply walk away. Just leave the treasure behind and go your separate way…otherwise…”
Gardius tilted his head slightly and stared directly into her eyes.
“Or else what?”
As soon as their eyes met, Stasha immediately flinched and almost fell on her ass.
When this happened Gardius actually started to laugh before, another God stepped forward and looked Gardius directly in the eye.
“Gardius, you and your Crescent moon knights have always been a blight on this Realm. No matter where you go, you are hated for the erroneous vile, misdeeds you have committed. This though is not the reason I hate you. No, I hate you because you believe yourself to be above everyone and everything. You look down on all and impose your authoritative will with no regard for others. The truth is, you’re scared arent you? This is why you steal resources and knowledge and hoard all opportunities you come across. You’re afraid if someone gets enough if they have enough time, someone will rise up and be your equal and then your superior.”
Gardius’s laugh came to a standstill.
“Brella, your imagination is truly a wild sight to behold. Is that what you’ve concluded? Not just you, Jinkin, Cainen, and you as well.”
Gardius looked at a snake monster with several spider arms that was hiding on the ground below. He had never seen this creature in his entire life but with his ring, he could sense a familiar presence inside this monster.
“So this is the new form you’ve taken. It is certainly an ugly one. Even if you weren’t really my ally, I believe I liked you much better while you inhabited Verius’s skin. The way you look now is simply disgusting don’t you think?”
Stasha and the others had no clue what Gardius was talking about. They had noticed this snake monster earlier but had no time to deal with it. Their first priority was getting the treasure before Gardius did. Everything else was at the bottom of the list.
The snake monster didn’t even look up at Gardius instead it was staring like a silent predator at Kazuki and Kazuki alone.
Inside the Shadow had taken complete control of this snake monster’s body. Right now it could sense the familiar energy it felt the day it found Kauzki in Satruss city. Not Kauzki’s energy but rather he could sense Arc and he could sense and see the Gauntlet Kazuki wore.
(So he’s changed his face again. I still don’t know his real name but that is my enemy no doubt.)
Kazuki as well noticed the snake monster, rather after training and suffering within his Soul world for over 2 million years, and his new improvement with his soul and body. His senses were heightened to levels unparalleled. Just as the shadow in the snake’s body knew Kazuki was his enemy, Kazuki as well knew the shadow was hiding inside the snake monster and controlling it like a puppet.
(So the shadow changed bodies again.)
A smile appeared on Kazuki’s face as he watched the snake monster. He could clearly sense the shadow now.
(You can no longer hide from me.)
