Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 122
After Gardius mentioned the snake monster, the other Supreme Gods looked down with stunned expressions. They did not know who this snake creature was but the fact that it had gone completely unnoticed by them all was eery.
After Gardius sealed the Artifact inside the now-broken black pyramid, the suppression of this green world had all but disappeared. Their senses had returned in full and they could feel nearly everything in this green world whether it be alive dead or inanimate, they could sense it. All except the snake monster below them.
They wondered if this was a new enemy they would need to worry about but before they could get distracted by that, Gardius poked at them.
His energy rose several levels and was palpable.
“I killed the others you were with and you few have returned to die by my own hand. This has truly been an odd day. Never has a defeated foe dared return to face me. It seems I’ve been too lenient.”
Gardius wondered what made these folks so confident. There were so few of them. Yes, they may be powerful but he was unafraid. Instead, he felt a grand desire build in him. He couldn’t help but glance at Kazuki with a smirk.
“Is this what you were buying time for? Were you already working with them since the beginning? It doesn’t matter. Either way, you all shall fall today and I will rise to new heights as I take control over this Realm and everything below it.”
When he said this. The Supreme Gods knew for certain Gardius had yet to claim the treasure firsthand. Yes, it was obviously floating inside the now broken black pyramid but they could only be so certain as to what it was. Seeing it floating silently with a barrier erected by Gardius personally, they knew what must be done.
The one leading them gave the two next to her the side eye as she exchanged a few short words through her mind. It was she and the other Supreme Gods who began to raise their own power.
The golden black armor she wore glowed ever so. The burly man on her left held a large drum on his waist and the thinner man on her right had a long metallic rope wrapped around his arm. These items started to glow as well.
The woman leading them spoke as if stating facts and said.
“Gardius, you may be powerful but since you sealed the Artifact yourself, our powers are no longer affected by this world. Things will not go like last time. Even if you defeat us all, how much will you have to sacrifice to forcefully tame the treasure? Your Crescent moon knights have already been wiped out. The moment you step out of the Black gate, you will be surrounded and swarmed by all of our combined forces. We will grind away at you with our superior numbers and whittle you down until you have nothing left and can no longer resist.”
Gardius looked at the three Supreme Gods as if they were fools.
“Jinkin, should you even be in this fight? With Stasha hiding in her ship, you are the weakest among us. I will pluck your blue scales off one by one and feed you to the Gai colony. After you, it will be Cainen. Your armored shell will crack under my mighty fist and I will rip you limb from limb as you scream in agony. As for you Brella. After I peel off that special armor of yours, I will be sure to feast upon your sultry flesh. You will be alive as I eat you and as you cry out in tears of blood, I will relish every moment of it.”
Brella stood tall and held up both of her arms. She balled her hand into fists and a pair of long sharpened claws extended out from the armor around the back of her fists. She lifted her gaze from her claws and her sight narrowed and darkened as she stared death at Gardius.
“Gardius, I am going to kill you and I want you to remember this moment because there was a way out for you but you refused to walk away. From henceforth, you can only blame your demise on your audacious nature.”
Silence pervaded the atmosphere. No one made a single move. Everyone still gathered their power and eyed one another. Who would make the first move no one knew. Brella had spoken self-assuredly but there was hesitation on her part. Gardius on the other hand was excited.
He was planning on keeping a few of them alive so they could witness the moment he was crowned ruler of all. Afterward, he would, of course, kill them all but he really wished to see the look of horror on their faces when he fulfilled his destiny. He was also curious to see how the mice would dance under his thumb.
(How should I play with them? Should I take a few limbs from the start? Damage their Soul weapons or should I let them try a few moves out first? )
As the tension seemed to be at its absolute peak. A move came from the most unexpected place. Down below, the snake creature shot a web seemingly randomly into the open sky. It was so obvious that it was a method of instigation but none cared. The second this web was launched into the air, everyone moved.
Gardius went straight for Brella but Brella didn’t even try and defend. Instead, she roared behind her.
“STASHA!”
Stasha’s vajra ship glowed with shimmering light. The power of space bent and warped and the sial of the ship vibrated almost chaotically.
Time in this world came to a standstill. Everyone froze, or rather everyone froze except those aboard Stasha’s ship. As her ship burned through Origin energy, time was unmoved for a fraction of a second. Her ship under her will, launched forward faster than light. One second she was the farthest in the back, the very next moment she appeared directly in front of Gardius.
Her ship sailing faster than a beam of light, she planned to use her superior speed and the barrier around her ship to ram straight through Gardius in a single shot.
Gardius watched all of this unfold and could not move a single inch. No the fact that he was even consciously capable of observing anything when the power of time held him was something almost unfathomable. Still, he could not move but, he need not move in the first place.
Just as Stasha’s ship was about to slam into his chest, the ring on his finger activated. The power of time was something even he could not tamper with but he did not need to.
The ring flashed and the barrier surrounding Stasha’s ship opened directly where it touched his chest. Now instead of him being hit with a barrier of magic going at a speed faster than light, he was hit directly by the ship. The materials it was made up of were that of an Artifact. Something that could withstand several bouts of Chaotic energy before suffering destruction.
There were very few objects that could handle the overwhelming power of Chaotic energy but an Artifact could contend with it for a bit.
Stasha saw this action and knew exactly what this meant but she was already moving so fast. She quickly tied to activate the barrier but Gardius’s ring was interfering. She then tried to manipulate time further, causing her ship to burn through even more Origin energy. As a result, she just barely managed to change direction but she still couldn’t help but land a hit against Gardiu’s without a barrier around her ship.
*BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!*
For a split second, the air was ripped to shreds and pushed everyone back. As this force spread out in every direction, every tree across this world was uprooted and reduced to ash. Every forest was overturned with the land itself. The oceans exploded into the sky before falling back down and flooding the world. The crack that was already left upon this world grew by several times and the world itself opened up.
If not for Gardius’s seal, the world would be drifting apart in space right now. Currently, it was the only thing holding it together.
Gardius stood in the sky with a smirk while everyone else stood there with a look of confusion. Half a second later they realized that Stasha and her ship were thousands of miles away.
A large crack ran through the front of her Vajra ship and it was tilting to one side. Sparks continuously popped and arced across the surface of her ship and the barrier had been completely destroyed. It was severely damaged and looked as if it would fall out of the sky at any given moment.
Brella, Jinkin, and Cainen were all stunned. They had been frozen in time and so they did not witness what happened but seeing their plan had failed, a feeling of dread filled the air around them.
Gardius brushed a few tiny pieces of debris off his shoulder before his voice rang cold.
“Was that all?”
