Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 132
(STOP! EVEN IF WE JUST CAME TOGETHER TO SAVE ONE ANOTHER, THE ARTIFACT WILL BE MINE! LEAVE IT OR YOU WILL FORCE MY HAND!)
Kazuki smiled at her before flying even faster ahead of her.
Brella’s claws appeared and she slashed at Kazuki. Her attack could not catch him and she knew it.
She grit her teeth as she saw her chances of getting the Artifact grow smaller and smaller before her eyes.
Kazuki looked back for a split second before turning away and racing ahead.
(If she knew the truth shed be thanking me instead of attacking me.)
Even though Brella attacked him, Kazuki knew her heart wasn’t truly in it. He did not hold it against her. In the end, this was not meant to be. The Artifact was something that belonged to Arc and Arc alone.
Kazuki’s gauntlet flashed with silver light and he flew faster and faster. Stasha who was much further in the distance, was not maintaining her speed well. Her Vajra ship had taken far too much damage and was completely empty of Origin energy. Kazuki caught up to her and passed her in seconds. She unlike the others did not try and attack Kazuki.
Stasha no longer held any interest in the treasure rather her main concern was her ship first and her Faction second. With them battling it out and slaughtering one another, she only wished to stop them before everything was lost and then get away to repair and recover.
Not only that, she had witnessed Kazuki’s powers. Although the fight with Gardius was one-sided and Kazuki was on the defensive the entire time, she still understood how dangerous Kazuki really was. He fought for several rounds with Gardius and managed to survive. In her eyes, even if Kauzki could not compete with raw power, he was too skilled in various other methods that made him a true threat.
She made a mental note to never become an enemy of his no matter what.
Kazuki was unaware of her thoughts but seeing her earlier behavior he could guess her mental state to some degree. As he passed her, he simply smiled and continued on.
Stasha smiled wearily before avoiding eye contact with him entirely.
—————————————————————————-
Passing through an ocean worth of dead bodies and debris, Kazuki flew through the outer edge of the battlefield. As he went by he noticed millions of storage rings floating around along with hundreds of thousands of Divine soul weapons trying to flee.
Kazuki would have loved to devour the power around him but he had no time. He could see the center of the battlefield. Gods were tearing each other apart and firing off fatal magic attacks. These attacks could easily destroy Kazuki’s body if he wasn’t careful. That alone did not put a mark of fear in his soul but were his body to be damaged, even if it cost a fraction of a second to recover, that was a loss of time. In the Realm among Gods, an uncountable number of variables could happen within that short period of time.
Kazuki’s mind was one track, as he rushed through the battlefield. Many saw Kazuki coming from billions of miles away. He left a trail of silver light in his wake and traveled alarmingly fast. It was hard to miss his flashy appearance. No one knew he was but because of his speed, they knew if he wasn’t stopped it would only spell misfortune for them. They weren’t working together but many shared similar thoughts and saw Kauzki as a direct threat to taking what they deemed theirs.
Because of this, attacks came flying at his head left and right.
A God could move at astonishing speeds. One attack from one God multiplied and they could deliver millions of attacks at the same time they started and finished a thought. Because of this Kazuki had billions of attacks flying at him from every angle. These Gods thought they had Kazuki cornered with an impenetrable net of attacks.
(Foolish.)
Kazuki smirked as he watched these attacks chase after him. Kazuki squeezed his fist tighter as he willed his Gauntlet forth.
(Let’s fly.)
He slipped through every single one of these with ease. Compared to Gardius and the other Supreme Gods, these attacks were just far too slow. In Kazuki’s eyes, he could see these attacks as if they were moving in slow motion.
He didn’t even try and counter as he simply had no need to. These attacks flew passed him or rather he flew passed them and avoided everything.
One moment Kauzki was right in front of them, the very next, he had seemed to vanish and reappear behind them all.
They tried to chase after him after failing to hit him but it was already too late.
Kazuki was already long gone.
He swiftly arrived near the epicenter of the battle. Blood, limbs, and explosions rocked the surrounding space. To his surprise, every time these attacks tore open Chaotic space, the artificial Origin energy from the 7 dark worlds surrounding this place would make a move. This dark energy would seal up every tear only a few moments after the tears appeared.
To the Gods battling it out here, this was a gift, no, a marvel. It meant they could fight here without holding back, with no worry about the consequences of Chaotic space. This was a rare opportunity to use everything they had without holding back. Never have they had this happen where they did not have to worry about Chaotic space. because of this, they used their most powerful attacks nonstop with zero regards for anyone else.
This was a fight, no, a war to rule the universe. Even if they had to worry about Chaotic space, they would still go all out. This would literally determine the fate of the universe, or rather that’s how they saw it at least. To Kauzki though, he could sense something…ominous.
(What is this bizarre feeling I’m getting? It’s like something deep inside is screaming at me to leave this place behind and never look back.)
It was the dark energy. This fake Artificial Origin energy was the cause of his gut feeling. It made no sense why the dark energy was sealing up Chaotic space. Not only that, Kazuki could now no longer see the end of this dark energy. Behind in front up or down, this fake Origin energy surrounded everything for 10,s of billions of fo miles.
After Kazuki had been trapped inside his Soul world for 2 million years. he had learned many things about this fake Oriing energy. No, he could not manipulate it yet but he could sense it now as if it were any other energy.
Right now, according to his senses, this dark energy was slowly beginning to condense inward. All of the power was concentrating and pulling toward the Artifact as if it were absorbing it, or eating a large meal.
(The Artifact is gathering all of this energy for what. If it’s eating everything in its surroundings, won’t it eat all of us?)
Kazuki was reminded of the monstrous beast that hunted him at the bottom of the abyssal trench. He couldn’t help but think about the time he was eaten alive and trapped inside that monster’s stomach.
A nasty chill ran down his spine and the hair on his arms and neck stood on end.
(I don’t know what the fuck the deal is with this Artifact but I feel like if I don’t get to it in time, something cataclysmic will happen.)
Kazuki had never felt like this in his entire life. His heart began to pound like a thunderous drum in his chest. Even as his ki flowed automatically to calm his heart and mind, he was still on edge.
He raced across the stars, the Artifact in sight.
(Almost.)
He continued to dodge magic left and right and was only a few million miles away. A distance he could easily cover in the blink of an eye.
It was at this time that he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. A beam of light burning like a crimson star.
Kazuki did not even need to guess to determine who it was.
Garidus was racing toward the Artifact just as Kazuki was. His face was covered in blood and he carried a crazed look in his eyes. He looked as if he would murder the universe if anything got in his way.
Kazuki ignored it. He was closer, and his speed was quicker. The Artifact was as good as his.
Gardius on the other hand was in no mood. he had suffered enough humiliation and his rage was as hot as any molten core.
He saw Kazuki in the distance and lifted his hand before slamming his hand shut in a vice-like grip. As soon as he did this, his power erupted in two folds.
A force of gravity traveled in a beam of golden-silver light shot forward. Those unfortunate Gods that got in the way of this beam were crushed instantly and died on the spot. This beam was still not as quick as Kauzki was but like Gardius’s earlier attacks, it did not necessarily have to be. This fused power affected things not only it came into direct contact with but also anything within a certain range of it.
To his shock, Kazuki watched as the Artifact suddenly was pulled away and raced toward the golden-silverish beam of light and in doing so, toward Gardius.
