Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 147

Kazuki’s fists were coated in Chaotic energy and Brella’s claws were burning with a blazing inferno. They had just broken through Belux’s dark barrier and were about to slam into him directly when a long dark sword covered in five different elements came chasing after the necks of the pair.

Brella was forced to raise a barrier of her own and switch up from offensive to defensive. Her armor glowed with a mix of golden and black light and there was a layer of white flames surrounding her entirely.

Even with all these layers of protection, even with an armored suit made of an Artifact, it barely protected her as Gardius’s blade slammed into her chest. The impact caused her chest plate to cave in by several inches and the sound of her bones breaking rang out clear. Her armor actually cracked under the weight of Garidus’s might. Brella did not fight this force but instead allowed the armor to do its job as she was blasted off into the distance.

At the exact same time as Brella was hit in the chest, Kazuki had been cut in two from the waist. His body split apart and he prepared to flee as well. It was one thing to take physical damage, he could always recover from that but Gardius’s sword was a Divine soul weapon. Kazuki could already feel his soul on the verge of destruction as Gardius’s Divine power invaded his soul world.

Kazuki just like Brella knew it was not something that could be fought and won against.

Gardius opened his palm directly in front of Kazuki’s face and with a cold voice he spoke.

“Die!”

Five elements appeared in his hand and before Kauzki could say anything, his entire body was reduced to ash.

He quickly transferred his soul into his gauntlet and flew away at his fastest speed in retreat.

Kazuki did not know why Gardius had launched this attack. Yes, they were enemies but the greater threat was obviously Belux. Before he could even begin to contemplate this fucked up situation, he saw that Gardius was not done with his attack. Merely his target changed.

Jinkin was still nearby and had been helping to block Belux’s attacks. Kazuki did not have to guess to know Gardius’s intentions. Kazuki willed his gauntlet to stop and turn back. He raced toward Jinkin with all of his power.

(JINKIN FLEE!!)

As these words fell, so too did Jinkin as Gardius’s blade stabbed deeply into his back and out of his chest. Kazuki was too late. Jinkin was just as confused as the others before his vision went black and he moved no more.

Gardius flicked his wrist and tossed Jinkin’s body away as if it were trash.

Kazuki had already reformed his body and just as Jinkin’s body went limp, Kazuki caught him and raced away from Gardius and Belux.

Gardius’s might was so great and swift that he had actually destroyed Jinkin’s soul in both his body as well as within Jinkin’s Divine weapon all before Jinkin had even drawn it.

Just like that, a Supreme God had fallen.

Brella quickly recovered but was not 100% as she appeared next to Kazuki. Her faceplate lifted and she looked pale as fresh blood spilled from the side of her mouth and down her chin.

She looked down at Jinkin’s lifeless body and felt disgusted. Not at Jinkin but instead for Gardius. Her frustration boiled over as she roared across space causing it to fluctuate and ripple.

“WHY! WHY KILL JINKIN WHEN BELUX IS RIGHT THERE!?”

Gardius didn’t even care to respond to her. Instead, he slashed and hacked away at Belux who in return traded more blows with his blade as they clashed again and again and again.

The sound was horrific on the ears and bodies of those that were weaker. Everyone constantly retreated just so they would not get pulled into the twos’ battle.

Brella couldn’t believe that Gardius was actually ignoring her. The rage seemed to eat at her flesh as her face warped and twisted.

“THIS FUCKER!!!!!!!”

Brellas armor had barely just recovered and the chest plate had only now fixed itself but that did not stop Brella from rushing forward.

Kazuki grabbed her shoulder and tried to stop her before the words could even come out, Brella gave Kazuki a death glare and slapped his hand away.

“NO DON’T YOU DARE TRY AND STOP ME!”

Kazuki knew his words would fail to reach her. This was the eccentric nature of Gods. They could not stand those who thought themselves above nor those that looked down upon them. This was barely about Jinkins death and more of her ego was bruised.

It was understandable to some degree. The plan had failed before it really even began and the one who caused the mess and had no thoughts for others completely ignored everyone.

Still, Kazuki was disappointed, no more than that. He was thoroughly fucking enraged. Not just at Belux or Gardius but at Brella as well.

(These fools!)

Kazuki’s ki flowed through his body and his anger was quelled. His thoughts were clear as crystal and the gears turned as fast as ever.

(Things are entirely finished, there’s still hope.)

A part of Kazuki’s mind looked into his storage ring and he looked at Gardius’s ring inside.

(Arc, tell me something good. How is your progress on the ring?)

(It’s taking longer than it should. This thing has a strong bond with Gardius and won’t relinquish its ties with him.)

(Stop trying to convince it and brute force the fuck. We don’t have time to wait around.)

(Kazuki what do you think we’ve been doing this whole time? Sword, Codex, and I have been hammering it but it;’s will is strong. If we go all out we will no doubt destroy it. All we can do is wear it down with precession strikes. The best option is still to break its bond with Gardius, only then can we take control of it.)

Kazuki thought for a moment while dodging incoming attacks from Gardius and Belux’s fallout.

(This ring is the linchpin. Without it, we will all die. To put a slave crest on it and take control of it like my gauntlet, we have to break its will.)

Kazuki looked at the rampaging Garidus and he knew what he had to do.

(If the ring has a bond with Garidus, I’ll just remove Gardius from the picture. I can’t kill him but who says I need to…Stasha prepare more of my ships Cainen gather as many Gods as possible and have them prepare as much energy as possible.)

Stasha and Cainen responded in kind and Kazuki changed his focus as he shot forward to Gardius and the others.

He did not aim for Gardius or Belux though. As he rushed forward, he caught up to Brella and side-tackled her. She was in no mood for the bullshit and was about to strike him down when Kazuki called out to her.

(Wait! I know how we can beat Gardius.)

Brella did not know what to think. The first plan had failed, she had little confidence a second plan would work.

(What is the point of these petty plots and schemes? Gardius will simply cut through them and rip them apart with overwhelming strength. The only thing he understands is a head-on collision. We have to face him and fight him tooth for tooth, blood for blood. Anything else is worthless. So don’t spew any crap and don’t get in my way.)

Brella tried to break free from Kazuki’s grip but found his strength was equal to hers, no it was more.

(I won’t let you waste your life. No, if you are going to die, at least fucking do while helping to take out these pieces of SCUM! Rushing in like this though, is stupid and you know it! Your anger holds you in its grasp. Let ration return and follow me. I promise Gardius will get what he deserves and the Universe will not be destroyed, at least not on this day.)

Brella tamed her rage and her cool, calm returned. There was still fury but it was boiling beneath the surface, waiting to be unleashed. She gnashed her teeth and asked.

(What would you have me do? What method will lead Gardius to his doom?)

Kazuki smiled fiendishly before explaining his thoughts. As soon as Brella heard his idea, a spark of joy flashed inside her.

(Yes…Gardius will face the ultimate judgment on this day. Kazuki was it…I will go along with this. Now, let us send Gardius on his way with swiftness.)

At the same time as plans were forming on the sideline, Belux and Gardius continued to clash over and over again. As Space was broken and torn, Belux’s dark energy constantly contained and repaired Chaotic space.

Belux barrier had been restored and spun like a tornado but it was continuously cut to shreds by Gardius’s blade.

Belux could not understand Gardius’s thoughts and asked.

(Everyone here will meet their end and everyone here fights to preserve their existence but you…You are fighting me just to fight. This will only end in your loss but you don’t even care. Why?)
