Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 148
Belux could not understand Gardius’s thoughts. Everyone, there was fighting for survival, struggling and striving to create some type of miracle. A miracle that would let them live and leave this nightmare behind.
Gardius on the other hand was fighting seemingly just to fight. Belux himself had his own goals since ancient times. All for the purpose of resetting the Universe. In his eyes, everyone had a purpose, all except for Gardius, and Belux wanted to know why.
(Everyone here will meet their end and everyone here fights to preserve their existence but you…You are fighting me just to fight. This will only end in your loss but you don’t even care. Why?)
Gardius swung his blade and it slammed heavily into Belux’s. The two once more knocked one another backward.
“You ask me why. Does there need to be a why, a reason? Maybe it’s my pride or maybe I can’t let go of my anger. Maybe it’s because this whole situation was all orchestrated by you. You leave clues and you drew others into your schemes all for the sake of getting to Kazuki and Arc. All you see is the end goal. You don’t even glance at those that were toyed with just to reach this stage. You spoke of being used for entertainment by this so-called Supreme being but as far as I can tell you aren’t any different. Deciding my future for me, touching me with that filthy dark energy of yours. All of these are good enough reasons to remove your head from your shoulders…In the end, though, your power overshadows mine and therefore you wield your might over all others. This is where you fail to recognize just how thoroughly you stepped on me and treated me as nothing.”
Belux nodded.
“So it’s not actually what I have set out to do that bothers you. It’s not the threat of death or the erasing of your existence you have a problem with. No, what bothers you is I see you as little, insignificant. You can’t stand having others thinking you are weak or believing they hold more power than you. In the end, is it actually pride?”
Gardius’s crimson hair rose and his eyes lit with a black flame. The five elements around his dark blade began to rotate as if a wind was pulling them together. Very quickly a sphere of energy combined at the tip of his mighty sword.
“The number of those that can compare with me I can count on a single hand. All of them are of flesh and blood but you…You are a mere tool, an Artifact meant to be used by the living. I was foolish for forgetting this. I wanted to control you and rule these Realms as a God above all Gods but that is false power. Only with my own strength, my own blade will I be able to claim to be the Ultimate, the strongest. I will break you and see to it that none can rise to my level through such weak means.”
Belux raised a brow.
“So this is the truth. You seek to destroy me, how ironic.”
Belux’s tornado of dark energy suddenly expanded and became a surging storm. His artificial Origin energy created dark lightning that danced around him like erratic serpents.
Gardius could feel pain on the surface of his skin. Though the lightning did not touch him directly, the space around him had condensed which led to the dark energy becoming even sharper. Just being this close would dense energy would carve at one’s flesh and burn you.
Gardius gnashed his teeth.
“Not enough! THIS PATHETIC ATTEMPT IS NOT NEARLY ENOUGH TO SLAY ME!”
Gardius swung his heavy sword in Belux’s direction and the dark sphere of energy at the tip of his blade shot forward like a flying star.
Belux’s storm and Gardius’s dark sphere met and collided in space. The instant these two powers collided, the serpent lightning struck the sphere with its erratic strikes. The dark sphere began to crack under this power and Belux smirked.
Just as it looked like his lightning would eradicate the dark sphere, the dark sphere suddenly expanded thousands of times. The lightning was pushed back before it all exploded in rapid bursts. The sphere had clearly grown weaker but it did not stop flying forward.
Belux’s expression changed but not by much. He lifted a hand and his lightning reappeared after it was destroyed. Once more it began striking the sphere. The Lightning was once again destroyed almost instantly.
This time Belux understood this was more serious than initially thought. His eyes glowed and the dark energy he drew from his surroundings multiplied the lightning by thousands of times. This time his lightning held the advantage but Gardius was not finished. His eyes continued to glow as he shouted.
“DESTROY!”
The dark sphere with his command exploded with a blast that could devastate an army of Gods. This power was not something he showed before and it outclassed anything seen up to this moment. Belux was forced to draw even more power away from his surroundings.
Every spot where the lightning appeared, all at once it was shattered, and Chaotic space tore open. Thousands of holes of Chaotic space were left open because Belux had to fully concentrate on Gardius’s attack. This meant none of the tears were sealed and a large suction force immediately began to drag anything nearby into them.
Even though many were on the edge of the battlefield, this space was not very large and many unfortunately were dragged into these tears.
The number of Gods was dwindling down to the final numbers. Only a meager 50 or 60 thousand could claim to still be alive but even then their numbers were still falling rapidly.
The smart and fast ones quickly took out their Vajra ships if they had them and those close enough piled on board. All focusing on powering the ship’s core and keeping the barrier intact.
While others were dreading this, Kazuki’s plans were suddenly accelerated at this opportunity.
Even in this desperate situation, word spread, and everyone that could spare focus turned their attention to Kazuki and the others.
Belux went from annoyed to angry. He threw his curiosity away and concentrated all of his power on this dark sphere of Gardius’s.
“The depth of your power is not to be underestimated I’ll admit but you have miscalculated.”
Belux’s eyes changed color and seemingly form out of nowhere Divine power began to build all around. Those that could sense this shift in power were shocked. The source of this energy that Belux was drawing from was not the surrounding space but rather from every God there. Not just from them but also from their ships as well.
Nearly everyone there was now having their Divine energy drained from their bodies.
Belux was actually stealing Divine energy from Gods. This was an insane concept. Something that defied all logic and reason.
Divine energy, once a God took it into their core, it became a part of them. A mark from their soul would be left on this energy and was not something anyone could just take as their own. If one attempted it, the Divine energy would attack them from the inside out. Only if they absorbed this Divine energy from their surroundings or from Divine crystals could they make this energy their own power. It was this or they would make it naturally little by little over time. Belux though was somehow going against that and was directly stealing it from others.
The only ones who seemed to not be affected were the Gods that were the strongest there. Everyone understood this as the strong preying on the weak. Meaning Belux could only do this to those that had a certain level of strength or rather a lack of strength.
Belux and the other Surpeme Gods did not suffer this energy drain as well as a few other Gods that had enough resistance in their auras. Everyone else though was fair game.
Kazuki’s soul was extremely pure and powerful. He could easily resist this but even if he couldn’t, Arc, Sword, and Codex would be able to protect him. More than that though, even if Belux could steal Divine energy from Kazuki, he would simply find none. Kazuki could not technically create his own Divine energy naturally after he became part Artifact. He could absorb the energy from the outside world or from Divine crystals but Kazuki had already found an energy that was much more powerful than Divine energy.
Why would he keep Divine energy in his core when Chaotic energy was much richer in energy and force? It was because of Chaotic energy that he could kill a God. The same could not be said for Divine energy.
—————————————————————————-
Belux stole the Divine energy from tens of thousands of Gods all at once. His lightning reformed and attacked the dark sphere until finally with a force to destroy countless Lower Realms, the sphere blasted outward and then was instantly sucked into the thousands of Chaotic tears.
