Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 15
After borrowing Arc’s senses, it did not take long for Kazuki to find his target. A rock the size of a lower Realm. As Chaotic space rippled outward, constant explosions appeared seemingly randomly. Countless rocks similar in size and shape to the one Kazuki located exploded and shattered into large quantities of extremely dangerous debris.
Moments later, there was another shift and as if time was rewinding these shattered rocks put themselves back together.
(Kazuki you’ve found what you’re looking for but I still don’t know the why. Why do you need to get to this particular rock what is the use?)
(The rock doesn’t actually matter. I simply chose it because it is the closest to us. The real reason is the phenomenon surrounding these rocks.)
(Phenomenon?)
(Yes, these rocks, there is something special about them. For some reason, after they are destroyed, they put themselves back together. If I can figure out the logic behind this, maybe something can be applied to myself. If that happens, I would no longer need to fear my own destruction in this place. That would mean that even if I am destroyed, there could be a possibility of recovery.)
(And you honestly think you will be able to let alone understand this act but recreate it?)
Kazuki himself was unsure.
(I can’t say but at the very least I will not know without trying. This though is only one of the reasons. The other is the fact that even after exploding from the strange forces in this place, those rocks aren’t fully destroyed. They spit apart and are broken down into smaller bits, yes but they aren’t completely obliterated. Something that can withstand the overwhelming forces in this place, even at that small level, definitely deserves a closer look.)
Arc didn’t know if Kauzki’s idea was possible but at this point, there wasn’t much more they could lose. Arc sensed the location of the large rock in the distance.
(Still, the distance from here to that rock is several hundred billion Realms away. Even if you move at your greatest speed, the time it will take is years and that’s if you don’t mess up along the way. Even a tiny slip in focus and the path you form could be taken over by Chaotic space and you would have to start entirely from scratch. Erasing years of your effort, are you sure that is an endeavor you wish to undergo?)
(A few years is a hell of a lot better than waiting around several hundred trillion. I’ll take my chances. So long as I keep my purpose at the forefront and my goals in mind, I will not lose sight of what I am doing.)
(Still, Kazuki, the amount of power this will consume will be extraordinary. To maintain a path at that distance as well as continuously carve out more of said path, you will need to constantly absorb Chaotic energy from your surroundings. Not only will you need to supply this energy to your path but you will also need to fire out your sword forms continuously without a single breath in between.)
Kazuki had already made up his mind. He was going to create a long path that would take years to complete. This would take extreme concentration and willpower but he was ready.
Just as he was about to start, Codex moved in front of him.
(Wait!)
Kazuki did not wish to hear any more discouragement or disapproval.
(Codex, are you trying to get in my way again?)
His tone was quite cold and short but Codex did not move.
(Without Origin energy there is no way for me to stop you unless I destroy the fragment you have left me but there’s no way I would sever our relationship. I realize I may have overstepped but I was only looking out for my investment. Since I cannot stop you, I can only warn you.)
Kazuki raised a brow.
(Warn me.)
(Yes, I believe you may have overlooked something and if you go out brashly, it will cause you nothing but grief and unnecessary struggle. Will you hear me out or have things degraded too far between us.)
Kazuki wondered if he really had overlooked something but nothing came to mind. Still, if there really was something and he was caught unaware that would really be dangerous and cause setbacks.
(Things are fine between us. I’m not so petty as to stay on bad terms over a single disagreement. So just hurry up and tell me. I don’t wish to waste any more time.)
(I’m sure you already have a plan in case this happens but if you don’t, maybe my warning will lead you to some insight to overcome this problem. What will you do if there is another surge of chaotic energy and there is an explosion nearby your path? With the force this place puts out, it will destroy anything in its path. Even if you clear away the chaotic energy, I doubt your sword forms can sever all of the energy contained in one of these explosive waves.)
Kazuki froze on the spot. He had been caught up with his idea of making it to one of the many rocks that he did not even think about his path being destroyed by one of the many explosions in Chaotic space. It would be one thing if he lost focus or he did not use his sword forms in time and his path was overgrown so to speak with Chaotic energy. He did not even consider what would happen if an explosion nearby occurred.
Kazuki quickly wondered if he could even sever the energy in one of those explosions, this thought though was completely overwritten in an instant. Of course, he could not sever it. It took a lot just to clear a path when Chaotic space was calm. With his power, he could overcome it but when there was an explosion, it brought a force that could even knock around an Artifact and destroy billions of realms in one wave. There was absolutely no way he could contend with all of that energy in one go.
His mind began to swirl as he tried to think of a way to deal with it but it all came down to the same thing. He simply wasn’t powerful enough. Kazuki sat down with a stunned expression and shook his head.
(To sever another energy, especially a stronger one, it requires a long time to build up. I’ve fought a few people and I needed to put multiple strokes and slashes of my brother’s sword form into my attacks in order to sever said energy. There were times when that required tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of sword strokes. Back then that took some time. Now I could do the same n an instant. I could slash the sky millions upon millions of times in a single instant and each stroke would contain my brother’s sword forms. This though…It would simply not be nearly enough to sever such a colossal wave of chaotic space. I would need a Godly amount. A number of strokes I have never even thought of before. Quadrillions of times, no quintrillions of times. No, even then it would not be enough slashes.)
(Correct Kazuki, the number is something you have never even thought of. The concept alone of such a number would be hard for you to grasp. It is not something you can perform, not with your current power. Codex is right. if one of these explosions hit your cleared-away path, it will be destroyed in an instant and you will lose all progress. It seems this is another dead end…I’m sorry.)
Arc had apologized and it did not exactly know why. This though was overshadowed by an intense pressure coming from Kazuki. He ground his teeth as he once again stood.
(Fine, even if my path is destroyed I will simply start over. I’ll go again and again until my path is complete. This place can hammer away at me but I will not stop.)
Codex flew forward appearing in Kazuki’s way once more. This time Kazuki’s patience was slipping.
(Codex What else is there!?)
(Not much, I just had a solution but I guess if you are in such a hurry to start over and over and over again, I suppose I will take a step back and let you roll downhill all on your own.)
Kazuki glared at Codex.
(What are you talking about, are you saying you have a way?)
(Indeed but it may upset you a little bit as it’s something you really don’t like.)
Kazuki’s head cooled slightly and he spoke through gritted teeth.
(Codex…If you have a solution, please share it.)
Codex wanted to laugh but it kept it just went ahead and spit it out.
(Sure sure. The answer is simple, though it requires the thing you hate the most and that’s time.)
