Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 67

(So creating a Divine Soul weapon is simply out of the question for me. I have no way of properly imbuing such a weapon with my being because of Origin energy, Oriing energy that I don’t even really have, or rather Oriing energy that even I cannot sense in any way shape, or form. The alternative would be to create an Artifact but I don’t have such knowledge and even if I could make an Artifact it would merely have the same abilities I possess and they would be weaker at that. Am I understanding all of this bullshit correctly Arc?)

Kazuki was annoyed but on a deeper note, his hopes of quickly gaining even more strength and power were dashed in an instant.

(Why repeat the obvious? The answer a moment ago is still the same. You cannot make a Divine Soul weapon and even if you knew how to create an Artifact it would be pointless as well. There are no quick grabs this time Kazuki. The only way you gain power is by reaching Divine Enlightenment. Since that could happen who knows when. Your best bet in overcoming the shadow is to seek out the other Artifacts so that I can absorb as much Origin energy as possible. The more Oriing energy I gain, the more my memories become clear and we can find my missing piece once and for all.)

Kazuki could only sigh before letting his frustration go. Becoming a God, he had no doubt it would eventually happen but the problem itself was the word eventually. He simply did not know how long he would have to wait to obtain Divine Enlightenment. The best option now was to seek out Origin energy for Arc. Enough Oriing energy so that Arc could regain its lost memories to lead them to its missing piece.

(Damn, and here I thought my luck was starting to change in my favor.)

(Brat we both know you never believed in such things as luck in the first place. Our fates are what we carve out for ourselves. Now that it’s come to this, let’s go on and set out. No point in sulking over miserable useless thoughts of what if and what could have been. You died, I used a fragment of myself to fuse your soul back together and now these are the results we have at hand. Bury it and move on or keep dwelling on it and curse me to oblivion already.)

Kazuki paused for a moment before he questioned.

(Arc…Do you think I’m angry at you?)

(Aren’t you? I saved your life back in Chaotic space but you are no longer 100% you. I have altered your path in life and because of it, you will never be able to possess something all Demigods and Gods have. A Soul weapon. Because of this, you are no longer a part of the great chain that is life. You are something different henceforth and can no longer return to what you once were. If it were me in your place, I would hold a heavy rage for the one that did this to me. So yes, you should be angry at me, no?)

Kazuki shook his head.

(I’m not angry at you Arc. I’m angry at myself. Rather, I was angry at myself. Angry at my own weakness. I no longer feel such deep seeded loathing. Do you know why?)

Arc had no answer.

(Tell me Kazuki.)

Kazuki tilted his head slightly.

(I have three powerful allies on my side. I am no longer diving into the black abyss alone. Weaknesses I still hold, I know that you, Codex and Sword, all of you have my back, and I yours. I died and I was nearly erased from all existence but it was you who brought me back from the brink. Not only did you save me but you also sacrificed a piece of yourself. You didn’t have to give up a part of yourself but you did. Even if it was for so-called selfish reasons because you still needed me. It doesn’t matter. In the end, what you did, has allowed me a second chance. I can still carry on, I can still fight. Eat meat and drink to my heart’s content. I still have the opportunity to see my brother and sister, my uncle and aunt. All of this because of what you did. Anger…absolutely not. Appreciation and admiration, that is what I think of when I think of you.)

Arc was quiet for a moment before sparks of purple lightning flickered and flashed.

(Brat, stop trying to get all buddy-buddy with me. It’s sickening, to say the least.)

Kazuki smirked, knowing hit hit a spot.

(I’ll just take that attitude as you saying you’re welcome and for me, I’ll just say it again in one word. Thanks.)

(Whatever. Can we go now or do you want to propose next.)

Codex and Kazuki laughed at this and then Codex added.

(If you two get married guess I should officiate then, heh. Arc you’re already in perfect shape since you’re a ring. I guess you’ll be an engagement ring now instead of a powerful Artifact.)

Codex and Sword goofed around and Kazuki laughed even harder. Arc could only feel embarrassment and anger. Leaving the information guild Kazuki continued to laugh into the empty air, causing the hidden Gods to stare at him as if he was nuts.

Outside the information guild, waiting at the bottom of the steps with an honest but bored expression was Barm the guide. As soon as he saw Kazuki exit the information guild he ran over and greeted him respectively.

“Sir Medatte. You seem to be in a good mood. I guess this means you found what you were looking for.”

Kazuki was so caught up in Codex’s jokes and his won laughter that he almost forgot his fake name in this place was Medatte. He cleared his throat and nodded.

“Yeah, I got what I was looking for.”

Barm looked half expectantly.

“Is there anything else I can show you? Anywhere you’d like I’ll gladly guide you.”

Kazuki was slightly surprised at Barm’s good-natured attitude. The guide had already received payment for the day. If Kauzki had no place else he needed a guide for, it meant Barms work would be done for the day and he would still get to keep the money. Seeing him want to work even though he would get nothing extra, Kazuki liked this hard-working sentiment from him.

“No my business in this city is no more. I should be mov

Kazuki paused for a moment. He had received information about the Crescent Knights and the enemy they were on the verge of clashing with. He had wanted to do something to spoil the shadow’s advances in some way shape or form. Since he could not gain immediate power with a Soul weapon and the shadow had a whole army at his beck and call. Kazuki was at a great disadvantage and decided to move on first but he suddenly had an idea.

“Actually there is someplace I want you to guide me to.”

—————————————————————————-

The first place Kazuki was led to was a marketplace. A spot mainly selling armor, weapons, and a few specialty items. Kazuki swept through this place like a tornado as he bought up one of everything and some things he bought multiples of. Anything and everything that had inscriptions he’d never seen before along with as many different materials he’s also never come in contact with before.

He spent a large fortune worth of Divine crystal by the time he was finished but this much money was pebbles in a vast ocean to him. No matter what, so long as Kazuki had access to Chaotic space and the Chaotic energy within, he would never enter the poor house.

As he left this part of the city, there were many who celebrated as they had sold years’ worth of inventory. They could rest easy for a long while with the profits they made that day. It’s funny, Kazuki had originally wished to keep a low profile but the way he spent money was obviously the opposite. Now he had a new idea in mind and very soon so long as things went to plan, there would be no reason to be wary of the shadow.

After buying up basically an entire street’s worth of inventory, Barm happily guided Kazuki to a darker part of the city. Not necessarily in color but in tone. Walking into a certain building, a heavy atmosphere clouded this area. A short woman with a slave mark walked up to Kazuki with a blank expression and asked.

“Sir are you here to purchase or are you here to sell slaves? If buying you may buy individually or in bulk and rights will be distributed and handed over immediately upon our side receiving the fee. If selling we do not take any that have broken minds as they are difficult to repair. Any that are below the 6th stage are deemed useless and therefore we will not buy off of you. Any God you wish to sell must have proper identification and we need any and all background information on them. We no longer take random drop-offs…Not after last times incident.”
