Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 71
Kazuki made a multitude of small worlds. Some were for experimentation while others were for manufacturing and so on. He realized early on that building everything himself was stupid and a waste of precious time. Instead, he built Golems. More and more Godlems all well advanced from anything he’s made in the past.
These Golems made other Golems for him. Hundreds became thousands and thousands became millions. Kazuki was not playing around. He was building for his future endeavors and not a single expense was spared.
These Golems may not be able to take on a God individually but they could deal with any Demigod, that he was confident in.
Outside of the Golems making other Golems, they also build him his Vajra ships along with different weapons and armor. Demigods and Gods already had weapons perfectly suited for them made of their own flesh and blood and souls but it never hurt to have a little something extra. A surprise for the enemy.
As for the armor he made, it was nothing special but it would at least stop one or two attacks from a Demigod. When facing an opponent with equal footing, if both were to lay a blow upon the other, the one that could take the attack and keep on fighting back held a great advantage over those that couldn’t. This armor was made with the sole purpose of a few attacks before it would fall apart.
Inside Kauzki’s soul world, he fed as much energy from his core to his soul tree. His soul was barely growing now and instead was condensing and taking on a golden hue. Besides this small change, nothing out of the ordinary took place.
Gradually the sun fell and rose. Kazuki took this opportunity to leave Talicus. After leaving the range of the city, he had Arc sense if anyone was watching him. Arc’s senses were far sharper than Kauzki’s, if there was someone observing him, Arc would catch wind of it.
(No one’s eyeing Brat. Why did you leave the city?)
Kauzki’s face began to change and his bone structure and body warped as well.
(Simple, I needed a new face and I didn’t want anyone seeing me change.)
Just as quickly as he left, he returned with a brand new face. He skipped the many guides along the road and went straight to the information guild. The energy around him could easily be manipulated with thought and he did exactly that. Now if one were to take a look at him or sense him, he would have absolutely no resemblance to any they’ve ever met.
He once again sought out more information. He once more entered the second floor so he could have his privacy.
(Why are we back here? Did you not already learn everything you wished to know yesterday?)
(Not quite. I learned about the Crescent Knights and their enemies but they are not the only ones I wish to know of. Sephra and my grandfather Orberus. I need to know as much as I can about them.)
(I get why you want to know about that vile woman but why your grandfather? Don’t tell me, you think he knew about her planning to kill you and everyone else?)
Kazuki shook his head.
(That I cannot say for sure. The man is…odd as well as power-hungry. After my real father died, he learned that it was Sephras who murdered him and my real mother. Yet to avoid a war he chose to simply imprison Sephra instead of killing her.)
(True if he killed Sephra then his family would have gone to war with hers and the process would leave both sides severely weakened if not destroyed entirely. It would be easy pickings at that point to any that looked your grandfather’s way. I don’t know if one would call that power-hungry more than trying to maintain one’s own territory.)
(Maybe so but that is just one example. The trade I made with him, was to basically cut ties with me, Alutra, and Lin in exchange I showed him how to use the devouring spinning void within. With a chance to gain more power, he was more than eager to throw blood ties to the wind. This shows me that there’s nothing he would not do to gain more power. If Sephra and he made a deal and he allowed her to attack…This would expand my list of enemies.)
(Kazuki, do you know what you speak of? If your grandfather truly is an enemy, that makes those loyal to him your enemy as well. Meaning your extended family members. Aunts, uncles, cousins, etc…Are you saying you would spill their blood along with your grandfathers and Sephra’s?)
(Of course…Don’t get me wrong, they are family but in blood only. I do not know those people and they don’t know me. If they do become my enemies they will receive a single chance to step out of the way. If they don’t accept, then they can only embrace death into the wayward void. At that point, my conscious will be clear.)
Arc felt a cold chill at this moment but he understood.
(That’s dark but it makes sense. If they are foolish enough to bare their fangs, at you who gave them the opportunity to walk away. They can only be fools. Most folks would never give their enemies the chance to surrender and go in peace. The fact that you would go that far for people who are basically strangers. It can be counted as graciousness to a level undeserving.)
Kazuki thought about his family in the Higher Realm. He thought about those that knew about his past, about Sephra, and about how they had done nothing for him. So many Gods were in his family yet in his times of need, in his greatest instances of despair, none of them were to be found. They deserved nothing from him but in the end, Kauzki decided to only be cold if they were cold first.
Those that stood in his way could only be crushed beneath him.
Kazuki asked a few questions to the black mirror and several options came up. After paying the enormous fee, Kazuki got many answers except the one he wanted most.
(This is odd. Grandfather’s power grew, which I already knew would happen after he learned how to devour from me but Sephra’s power grew as well.)
(The she-devil has grown in power. How can that be without the devouring ability or an Artifact under her control?)
(No, Arc her authority grew. From what I gathered, she was allowed to leave Oberus’s side. When she returned to her family, shortly after that, her mother and father passed one after another under strange circumstances. It doesn’t say what the cause was but all signs point to her. Following that,s he took control of her family all of the territory, and the armies beneath them.)
(It seems the thorn has grown brat. Going in and killing her by yourself was becoming a possibility truer and truer but now she has an army surrounding her with the means to control them.)
(Not just that Arc. She hasn’t just settled down with this power transfer. Orberus declared war on his neighbor and Sephra it seems allied with him and helped him take control of the neighboring Starpath. Now it is split between both him and her with the biggest part going to him. He’s using her like a vassal state. No, knowing her, she’s plotting even now. With her nasty personality, there’s no way she’s decided to all of a sudden become loyal to Orberus. Something isn’t right about this situation.)
(Kazuki this may be good news for us then. If she’s plotting most likely it will be toward your grandfather. I say let them destroy one another from the inside out, and you swoop in later and pick them apart when they are at their weakest.)
(That sounds too good to be true. Sephra is many things but stupid is not one of them. After they just took over an entire Starpath, infighting could fracture them entirely. A Power vacuum could form and it would be every man for themselves. No, when she makes a move, she will go for the top position. With a concrete plan, she will try and take everything all at once in a single move.)
Kazuki asked the black mirror a few more things before he left. He went around the market buying up more and more ingredients for his golems to process.
(Sephra’s power will continue to grow. Now that she has an army under her, there’s no way she’ll stop now. I need more, more soldiers, more ships…)
As Kazuki was lost in thought and found himself down a twisted road. At the end of it was a quiet bar. Without thinking his legs seemed to move by themself and he sat down at a table in the corner of the bar.
