Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 76
Kazuki and Fleck entered a large hall. Once inside, Kazuki was again greeted by one of his soldiers. A Beast folk. The woman had large horns and a bigger frame than most others. Wide shoulders and muscles that would make most men jealous.
“Master, you’ve returned.”
She eyed Fleck up and down but said nothing about him.
“I need you for something Nala. Both of you have a seat.”
Fleck the archer and Nala the beast woman sat opposite of one another. Kazuki then entered Fleck’s soul world and using his soul-reading ability he swiftly began to repair the man’s soul. Since he was only a Demiogd, he still could not fully fix a God’s soul all on his own. This is where Nala came in. She was a God and by using his command over her slave mark he could perfectly manipulate her power with his will.
Just as he had Viz help Kori regain his Godhood, Kazuki used Nala’s power as if it were his own. At the same time as he fixed the broken parts of Fleck’s sol, he also absorbed the dark energy spilling out of both his Divine Soul weapon as well as his Soul world.
This dark energy was something most would have difficulties dealing with head-on. Again it was a type of Chaotic energy similar to the Mind-soul energy. Well, similar was a stretch. The actual similarity was in the fact that the two energies were a fusion of several kinds. That was where the similarities started and ended.
(Mind-soul energy affects exactly as it’s been named, the mind and soul. This dark energy mainly affects one’s body and magic. It eats away at one’s body and drills through the flesh and into the soul world where it then proceeds to eat at a person’s magic source, their core. It forces a person to constantly use enormous amounts of magic in order to recover and regenerate but it doesn’t stop there. It spreads to everything it touches like a plague. The more it spreads the more power it takes to fend it off. Someone that has already used everything they have, ends up being overwhelmed. For this type of energy though there are actually a few methods to deal with it.)
Kazuki had Fleck draw his Soul weapon. The dark energy had mostly been suppressed from earlier but since there was still energy inside, the dark foul energy used it like a fuel source and began to grow again at a rapid rate.
Kazuki could easily activate the spinning void within himself to devour all of this energy but he found it a waste. He would no longer gain strength from consuming this dark energy. It was basically like consuming empty calories for him at this point. Instead, he found practicality in using his other abilities to counter the power at its base.
In this way, he got better and better at using the countless chaotic energies. Using all of them as a mass of power was a way to destroy most things with ease but it would not improve his control over Chaotic energy as a whole. Kazuki found that the more he used the individual chaotic energies or even a few of them at the same time, the better he gained overall control of countless forces that made up Chaotic energy.
His mastery was improving every day because of this.
With a thought, the chaotic energy within his own core pulled out several strands of specific energy. To counter the degrading and eating power of this foul dark energy. Kazuki used a type of energy that combined regenerative and healing effects, along with neutralizing abilities and darknesses complete opposite, light. With these different strands of Chaotic energy combined, he stripped the dark energy of all its potency and nullified it.
He had no name for this energy as it was not something he had ever come across outside of Chaotic space. He decided to maybe name it at a later date. For now, though, he focused on removing the rest of this dark energy. He got rid of it entirely from Fleck’s body as well as his Divine Soul weapon. He had to work on both at the same time as there was a connection between his soul world and weapon.
If he worked on one at a time, the spread of dark energy would have easily spread across the connection.
As the foul energy was dealt with, Fleck’s hopeless expression began to brighten. The despair he wallowed in, the pain he accepted in torment, all of it began to fade until…there was nothing left. After only a few moments, the agony Fleck has suffered, all of it was gone.
He couldn’t help but look at Kazuki with tears in his eyes.
“Thank you…Master.”
Kazuki sighed inwardly. Knowing it was so easy to fix this man’s problems…He couldn’t help but think of how things could have turned out for him and all those he knew if there was someone who just came along and fixed everything.
Kazuki wasn’t angry nor could he be disappointed something miraculous like that didn’t happen for him. All he could do was keep moving forward and take his future into his own hands.

Kazuki no longer needed Fleck. After he healed the man, he swooped in and took in all of his memories. He had witnessed everything in the archer’s life. The man was an expert with the bow but Kauzki did not care about that. Instead, he was interested in all the information the man had regarding the Black gate.
With these memories, Kazuki understood what Fleck understood and he quickly shared the same information with the other Artifacts.
(Kazuki these memories, Fleck has gathered a well of knowledge regarding the Black gate. He seems, even more, meticulous than the information guild. What he let on in the bar was barely scratching the surface. This Black Gate seems to be an ever-moving Star path. A galaxy floating through this Higher Realm surrounded by Chaotic space. Do you realize what this means?)
Codex had only been mildly interested in this so-called Black gate. Its interest rose when it learned why the shadow was seeking it. UIt’s fascination only grew when it learned the Black gate was a Star path on the move and surrounded by Chaotic space.
(It’s no wonder it’s only being guarded. No one can get too close to it without having to deal with Chaotic space and its dangerous energies. The fact that tears in space remain around it in perpetuity means this Black gate is supplying these tears in space with a terrifying amount of energy. Those tears typically last seconds, maybe minutes if there is a large source of energy but these tears around the Black gate have apparently always been there. What could be giving these tears energy, what is allowing something the size of a galaxy to move at high speed for eons?)
(Right, whatever is inside, this supposed treasure. Kazuki from Fleck’s memories it’s not confirmed the treasure is actually an Artifact but in all honesty, I don’t know what else it could possibly be. Arc what do you think? You’ve been far too quiet for all of this. It doesn’t sit right when you aren’t shouting or insulting someone.)
Codex and Kazuki both expected an insult after that but to their surprise, Arc began to laugh.
(Hehehahaha. A source powerful enough to move an entire Starpath. There’s not a single God that can pull that off, no, there’s not a single entity in all the three Realms that can do this. Isn’t it obvious what the treasure is…My missing piece, at last, I’ve found it.)
Kazuki and Codex were stunned.
(What did you just say Arc? Your missing piece, the same piece that will make you the almighty and one true, that missing piece? How in the 7 realms of hell can you be so sure? I mean seriously, that is quite a leap is it not?)
(Tell me Kazuki, what else can move space like that? Out of all creatures above and below, how many have you come across that had such mastery over the power of space?)
In all honesty, there was only one being that came to mind and that was Arc and Arc alone. The scale though was just far too different.
(Arc, isn’t that far-fetched? I mean let’s say it is really your missing piece. If its power is so great it can move such a mass through Chaotic space then shouldn’t it have the cognitive function to know it is this missing piece you speak of? Wouldn’t it have long come to you? This then leads to the question if it is aware and it hasn’t come forth and presented itself to you. Couldn’t that mean or rather wouldn’t that mean it has no interest in reconnecting with you? With that amount of power, there’s absolutely no way any of us can contend with it right. Go after it would put us all at risk if we tried to force anything.)
