Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 93

“Yes yes, more ugly things come to die by this beautiful one.”

As the monster was being attacked on all sides, it was still dealing powerful blasts from its open mouth while talking. Carta and her two companions were firing their own fire at the snake creature up close. The snake seemed to enjoy this but its lust for death was greater than its lust for battle. It shook its head back and forth and focused all of its power on one of Carta’s clan members.

Against three the snake was just barely overtaking them but by focusing its beam entirely on one, it completely overwhelmed this poor soul in an instant.

The man didn’t even have time to scream as the white beam of light touched his skin turning it as black as night. The very next instant the man crumbled apart into a black powdery substance. The snake then opened its mouth even further, unhinging its jaw in a practiced manner before swallowing Carta and her last companion’s fire blast all at once.

Afterward, it licked its lips in delight. Carta on the other hand was devastated by another family member dying.

“NOOOOO!”

Carta screamed in anguish and she clasped her hands together forming a mass of metal as she swung her gauntlets into the side of the snake monster’s oversized head, knocking it back nearly a dozen feet.

Its hooves slid across the ground before it came to a stop. Its thin irises narrowed even further as it glared death at Carta.

“You ugly little bitch. Dare try and ruin my beautiful face. You…You I shall eat whole and let your corpse rot away in my stomach!”

The snake-like monster leapt forward at a terrifying speed but before it arrived in front of Carta, a thin rapier blade extended and stretched across the air with a dangerous piercing force. The snake monster’s spider legs unfolded from its side and intercepted the blade holding it tightly in the monster’s grasp.

Specxzu’s many eyes widened, not in shock but in pure rage.

“A disgusting beast like you thinks it can compete with me in terms of strength. THINK AGAINNNNN!”

Specxzu grabbed the handle of his thin sword with both hands and flexed several sections that made up his thorax. A strange popping sound reverberated from his chest and body and he pushed his blade forward like an unstoppable tyrant.

The snake monster struggled for a moment before it used the rest of its spider arms to hold the blade in place. Even this wasn’t enough. The spider arms shook violently, so much so that the air around them vibrated and made a strange almost hiss-like noise.

At the same time Carta rushed in once again and Dredinkar tried to warn her.

“NO! DON’T DO IT!”

It was already too late. The snake twisted its upper body and sent Specxzu’s blade flying past it. At the same time, its neck stretched outward around the blade as it prepared to swallow Carta in one bite.

Dredinkar was weighing whether he should use his strongest attack and just threw caution to the wind. The blank white card he held in his last hand began to shine with a myriad of different colored lights, as he thought.

(Carta you’ll owe me for this one.)

Just before he was about to throw this card forward, Several arrows came flying forward with optimal speed. The snake’s spider arms twisted irregularly as it prepared to catch one of these arrows and send it flying back but the moment one of these arrows touched one of the spider legs, it penetrated deeply into the flesh of this spider arm.

The snake was shocked and pissed. Its snake head hesitated as more arrows came flying at it. It avoided the arrows with its spider arms and intercepted or dodged them with its body. The arrows bounced off of its large frame, just a sit thought they would. Still, it was surprising that there was something that could penetrate a part of its body.

With the arrows no longer a factor so long as it kept its spider arms away from them, it focused back on Carta. Carta though was not just going to sit there and get eaten. Once more her fist came flying like two heavy hammers close together. This time though she filled them with power. Blazing white and golden flames covered her gauntlets in a blanket of firepower.

The snake had once again been distracted from the arrows half a second ago so it could only get hit from under its jaw, which sent its head flying back awkwardly. It slid across the ground once more, this time a little further away. It felts its face with one of its spider arms and felt a small mark Carta had left behind. It couldn’t have been more than a few centimeters but it was enough to fill this monster with rage.

It sent a bot of power to its face to speed up the healing.

“MY my my, I am off today. It’s simply been far too long since I’ve had such rude guests. You enter my territory and even scratch my flawless face. I simply must show you the appropriate accommodation, shouldn’t I.”

The snake smiled with a wide grin before its spider arms began flicking back and forth. They would rotate and touch his back before flipping forward as they pulled webs out of his back and shit them all around. The webs flew out like bunches of nets. They were aimed at everyone all at the same time.

Specxzu grabbed his last soldier by the nape of its neck and held the struggling soldier in front of him. Just like a shield, the soldier took the entire net and melted into a puddle. Specxzu’s mandibles clicked several times and he was about to thrust his blade directly at the snake’s head but the snake moved quicker and tossed out hundreds of nets all over. Speckxzu was forced to take to the skies above.

Carta’s last remaining clan member tried to shoot flames at one of these nets but his fire just went threw it and hit a tree in the distance. The net wasn’t slowed in the least and wrapped around him in an instant. The moment the net touched his flesh he began to melt all over.

He screamed in agony as he tried to free himself but the webs were both sticky and felt indestructible to him. All he could do is struggle and become a puddle of juices collected on the ground.

Carta was also dealing with the net of webs shot at her. The moment they were about to wrap around her she grabbed them with her gauntlets and burned them with her blazing golden-white flames. Even this wasn’t enough. Her hands had become completely bound and her flames were only slowly burning the webs away. At the same time, the webs were damaging her gauntlets and melting them a bit.

She screamed as her soul weapons were being destroyed before her very eyes. Her soul was taking direct damage because her gauntlets were being melted.

She grabbed the bracelet on her wrist that her grandparents had given her and she was about to activate this treasure when the pain became too much. Before she could use it, her eyes rolled up into her head and she actually passed out in the middle of battle.

As for Dredinkar, his companions were too slow and died almost instantly. He on the other hand still kept a thin barrier up over his body. The moment the webs touched him, they quickly began to melt through his barrier. Dredinkar however did not panic. Three of his hands flexed and fused magic into three of his soul weapons. With the power of three soul weapons at once and fused magical divine energy, he easily destroyed the webs.

He then rushed to Carta’s side and freed her from the webs before her gauntlets were degraded entirely. The snake would not let this opportunity go to waste though. Carta was the one who damaged his precious face and he wished for her death the most. He lunged at the two of them but Dredinkar was not having it. He swung five of his soul weapons in retaliation. The snake sent out more webs and the two collided and both were knocked back.

Dredinkar was shocked. He had used five of his six Divine soul weapons and hadn’t damaged the snake’s body at all. He felt stupid for not aiming at the snake’s spider arms or head instead of focusing on the body.

Fleck and Nala stood side by side. As these nets made of sticky web came flying at the two. Fleck flexed his archery skills and shot several arrows at the same time. With a single shot, a dozen arrows raced forward and under his skills alone the arrows bent mid-air and knocked all the webs away.

Fleck and Nala both nodded with confidence but to their shock they witnessed Kazuki get fully wrapped up inside of one of these webs and his flesh began to melt away at a rapid rate.
