Return of the Fallen Volume 13 Chapter 3

30 of these winged beasts descended upon the strange-looking t-rex, attacking it all at once. Sharp hook-like talons and straight-edged beaks clawed and stabbed at the t-rex.

Its attention immediately turned away from Kazuki and went into fight mode against these newly arrived enemies.

The talons of the pterodactyls scratched deeply into the t-rex’s back, leaving bloodied wounds. The moment the blood from these injuries hit the ground, flames jumped up from the blood before burning away after a quick second.

The t-rex was enraged. It whipped its tail around with a turn of its backside. The tail cut through the air with enough force to spin up a tornado. Several pterodactyls were caught up in this miniature tornado and were thrown off course. With this, the t-rex didn’t sit around. It actually slammed its tail into the ground, and to Kazuki’s shock, the beast leaped high into the air and opened its jaws wide before snapping them shut on 3 of the flying pests.

*CHOMP*

A fine jet of blood sprayed out from the t-rex’s mouth as its razor-sharp teeth cut through and tore at the pterodactyls. The other flying beasts grew angry and went into a frenzy. From their bodies, a brand new set of wings slightly smaller, and narrower than their first pair opened up. These wings were thin and one could almost see through them.

With a flap of this new set of wings, shards of ice formed in the air before they came raining down atop the t-rex. The moment these ice shards came flying down each and every one of them lit up with blazing flames of red.

Kazuki who was now exposed and out in the open could only grab a nearby boulder and hide behind it. As he watched this fight he analyzed everything in this new environment.

(The ice burns due tot he gasses in this world. The surface of the ice isn’t made of frozen water but these same frozen gases.)

As he thought this, a few of these shards came crashing down around him and one nearly struck him.

The ice itself did not touch him but just its proximity caused Kauzki’s skin to start to discolor and burn.

He was actually burning due to this fire.

The fire was hot but its temperature was nowhere near what Kauzki himself could create, yet it actually injured him. Again Kazuki could sense a strange power inside the flames. He could feel something familiar from this power but he did not know what.

*Bang bang bang*

More shards flew down all around him, nearly piercing him. Kazuki wanted to run but he was slower than a crawling infant in this world. All he could do was watch on in horror.

The shards stabbed into the t-rex causing more and more wounds but the t-rex shook the shards off, sending them flying in all directions. It roared at the pterodactyls as if it were warning them.

Teh pterodactyls persisted. Clawing and stabbing with their talons and beaks. The t-rex had had enough.

A dark glow of red gathered at the base of its tail and soon flowed upward through its spine and into he base of its skull. This energy drew a straight line from the end of its tail to the tip of its head before it opened its mouth with and roared once again.

*ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!*

This roar was different from the others as the t-rex sprayed out red flames continuously. These flames blanketed the sky and slammed into all of its enemies lighting their wings on fire. The closer ones fell from the sky instantly as their wings melted like candle wax. The ones slightly further away had enough time to shake the flames off and scattered into the sky. Maybe a third took off and didn’t look back.

*SCREEEEEEEEEEEEE!*

With weakened screeches, they disappeared into the distance. The t-rex watched them the entire time they fled. When they were finally out of sight, it gave the ground one final heavy stomp.

*BOOOOOOM*

The ground rocked under this weight and the t-rex blew air out of its nose in a hmph of triumph.

It then changed its focus to its downed enemies. There were nearly 2 dozen fallen enemies that had their wings heavily damaged or destroyed entirely.

Without their wings, these beasts were completely unbalanced and slow. They could only walk and the word run was not something that existed in their vocabulary. Saying that, they were still faster than Kazuki was in this world but this speed simply wasn’t enough to escape the t-rex. It walked over with a bit of pace. Its fallen enemies cried out in anger and fear but the t-rex did not care.

It either stomped on its enemies’ necks, crushing them instantly, or gave them a chomp biting down and destroying their heads with ease. A few tried to sneak away while it took care of the rest. Without even turning its head, the t-rex once again whipped its tail and struck them down dead with a single blow.

(The pterodactyls have high offense only when their wings are still intact but once you ground them, they become easy pickings for the t-rex.)

When the t-rex finished all of its enemies, it then looked over at Kazuki. Kazuki couldn’t run nor could he beat this thing in a fight, not without all of his powers. When you can’t escape nor can you fight, your options were few. Kazuki could tell the t-rex wasn’t too smart but it was intelligent enough to recognize friend and foe.

As the t-rex started to slowly walk in his direction, Kazuki quickly grabbed one of the boulders nearby. The t-rex thought Kazuki was about to throw it and its gaze darkened but then to its surprise, Kazuki began crushing it in a weird way.

The t-rex looked on in confusion and its curious nature began to rise. It walked closer, each step causing the ground around it to tremble and the ash-covered ground to sink here and there.

Kazuki’s hands did not stop as he crushed and carved the boulder more and more. Pretty quickly a shape began to emerge from the large rock.

With Kazuki being crushed by the large power and pressure of this world, his so-called quick movements were actually quite slow and were incredibly exhausting but still, he did not stop. After almost 20 seconds passed, he was done.

Turning the rock and flipping it upside down, the true form of this rock was revealed.

The t-rex looked on in pure awe and even maybe a little delight as it saw a rock that looked just like it.

Kazuki had actually carved the boulder to look like the t-rex. He didn’t stop there, adding a bit of his fire magic to the stone statue, the tail all the way up the back, and the tip of its head began to burn with red fire.

He carved a few simple inscriptions on this stone statue so that it would absorb fire energy from the surroundings and burn in this way indefinitely. He could have done billions upon billions of alterations but that would require a lot more time.

Kazuki did not know how long the t-rex’s attention span was and did not wish to risk it. He knew it was curious from the way it observed him and followed its nose earlier.

(If this t-rex was simply a mindless monster it would have attacked me straight away. Not only that if it was just simply out to destroy it would have launched its finishing move straight away at those flying pests but instead it roared at them with a warning. I don’t know if that was it offering mercy but at the very least it proves that this thing doesn’t just go out of its way to kill without a reason. If I’m right, it should find this at least a tiny bit entertaining and may just let me go.)

Kazuki’s thoughts and observations were spot on. The t-rex stomped heavily several times, but it did not attack. It showed row after row of teeth as it grinned in satisfaction.

Suddenly, the burning t-rex statue was lifted from the ground. Kazuki could feel an aura coming from this creature. The t-rex wrapped its aura around the statue and made it float and dance around in the air. It was like a small child playing with an action figure.

Kazuki did not think it had any aura but was learning more and more how wrong he was. He also hadn’t sensed any magic in this creature either, but it clearly used it moments ago. His senses were so far off for some reason. He knew it had something to do with Belux and Arc and possibly this place as well but for now, he didn’t dare try and think of that in case the pain overtook him.

After a moment or so, the t-rex stopped playing with the burning statue and lifted one of the pterodactyls with its aura before tossing the corpse in front of Kazuki, where it landed at his feet.

The pterodactyl looked between the corpse and Kazuki a few times.

Kazuki could already tell what the t-rex wanted, but just in case he asked.

“Are you giving this to me?”
