Return of the Fallen Volume 13 Chapter 4

The corpse floated in the air before the t-rex, with a thought, dropped it at Kazuki’s feet.

“Are you giving this to me?”

The t-rex stomped and nodded its overgrown head up and down.

Kazuki smiled.

“Thank you.”

He didn’t know if that exactly got across, as the t-rex just stood there watching him.

(What else does it want from me? Don’t tell me it wants me to eat this flying reptile.)

The t-rex just stared at him, and Kazuki knew.

(Yep, it wants me to eat the creature. If I don’t it will probably get offended, possibly even think I’m looking down on it for not accepting its offer.)

Kazuki grabbed the dead pterodactyl, which caused the t-rex to become excited, revealing rows of sharp teeth. A thick line of foul-smelling drool dripped from the side of the dinosaur’s mouth as it watched with hungry eyes. The drool fell to the ash-covered ground and the spittle create a large flame as it hit.

Kazuki sighed inwardly before trying to tear a piece off.

gripping the dead creature, its flesh felt similar to leather but with a strong tug, the muscles and skin were tough like metal. Kazuki had to use all of his strength just to tear a piece off.

Smelling the meat. It gave off an earthy tone combined with a fishy-like scent. Taking a bite, Kazuki had to use everything he could just to bite through. It really was like metal.

Each chew brought a sound similar to stones grinding against one another. Kazuki’s mouth began to bleed but he powered through before eventually swallowing the half-chewed chunk down with some difficulty.

The moment he swallowed the piece of meat, Kazuki felt a searing pain spread in his stomach and intestines. It was like someone had poured liquid magma down his gullet. A volcano erupting inside his guts would have been colder than this.

Kazuki fell to his knees and gripped his stomach in pain. The second he hit the ground, his focus was lost and the strength in his legs failed him. The overwhelming power of this place caused him to fall face-first, slamming his head right into the ashy ground.

The t-rex watched this with delight and stomped around at the entertaining show. It had never seen a creature quite like Kazuki but whatever Kauzki was, the t-rex liked it. It had already forgotten Kazuki’s sneak attack and saw him more like a silly toy or pet.

Kazuki could not focus nor care about anything the t-rex did. His entire thoughts lay in his stomach as the pain was too intense.

(What is this fire!? I can barely breathe. Is this poison no, it almost feels like the effects of dakr energy. It’s like my insides are being degraded and melting into a boiling soup.)

Kazuki felt his flesh starting to actually melt. His insides were now actually being destroyed by this hot energy. His stomach seemed to fall into a pit as his organs were melting as if they had been submerged into a tank of acid. Kazuki’s natural regenerative abilities kicked in and began rapidly healing him but even with his quick healing abilities it wasn’t enough.

The burning was quicker than his healing could keep up.

Kazuki tried to use his ki to immediately force himself to vomit up this terrible creature but he remembered he could no longer sense his ki. He then relied on his muscles and tried to throw it up the good old fashion way but the lining of his stomach had already melted and a hole was quickly forming in his abdomen, he could no longer forcibly puke.

(This fire is too much. I can’t out-heal it and I can’t force it up and out. The only other option is to suppress it or absorb it.)

Kazuki could barely breathe but he had no other choice. He took his fist and slammed it into his stomach.

The t-rex watched him curiously and got a little closer.

This punch knocked all of the air out of him. Opening his mouth, he could only inhale in shallow breaths. This at the very least got him breathing again little by little. With these shallow breaths, he used his aura breath. Instead of using it on an opponent and suppressing their magic and soul, he used it on himself, or rather this fire energy emanating from the chunk of undigested meat.

This helped a little bit, which in turn allowed him to take in deeper breaths. Kazuki could feel death looming over him, but he did not submit to fear nor did he panic. He cycled his breath repeatedly and remembered his Granny Master’s breathing technique from long ago.

His breath was now under control, but the fire energy was still burning him from the inside out. Kazuki felt his blood boil, and his skin became dry like a desert.

He could not use his own water magic as the only magic he had access to was fire, so instead he used his aura to mimic the element of water. Never did he imagine he would need to use aura mimicking to create an element he already had.

Under this distress, he had no choice. He created a large glob of water, bigger than himself, and encased himself within it before turning the water into ice.

He allowed himself a little air pocket to breathe so he could focus, but the rest of his body was now frozen in a block of ice.

The t-rex was surprised, to say the least. It had never seen ice like this in its entire life. Usually, the ice it encountered came from its enemies, and all of that ice burned with red or black flames. This ice though did not burn at all.

While Kauzki was literally dying inside the block of ice, the t-rex sniffed it a few times before sticking out its tongue and giving the Kazuki popsicle a lick. The t-rex blinked several times before it became excited and began licking the block of ice again and again.

It wasn’t the taste that did it, but rather the fact that the ice it licked was cold and not burning. It was a new and novel sensation, and the t-rex really licked it. It stomped happily and kept licking the ice block.

Meanwhile, inside the block of ice, Kauzki was in distress. His insides had barely cooled for but a moment before the fire energy burning within actually increased in temperature.

(NO, This is too much.)

Kazuki tried to enter his soul world. At least in there, with the time difference, he could try and figure this energy out. Learn from it and understand it to some degree. He could buy himself years—decades—even in the time that a single second passed. With that, he hoped to find a way to be rid of this energy. If not that, he wanted to activate his devouring technique and eat away at this energy, but to his shock, he could not access his own soul world.

He thought he could earlier but hadn’t tried it due to the situation, but now he was finding that he could not enter. Possibly because of this current fire energy or maybe because of what happened with Arc and Belux. His powers were still being affected from earlier.

Kazuki felt the fire energy grow more and more. It was still not decreasing. He wondered how it could possibly continue to grow and realized that this fire energy was actually using his own fire energy as fuel.

(I have to get rid of all of my energy before the temperature rises too much and burns me to cinders.)

Kazuki changed the flow of his magic and gathered it all across his body before releasing it. The ice exploded, and because of the extreme heat, it was actually vaporized instantly.

The t-rex was taken aback and was disappointed that the strange and new sensation of licking real ice was now gone.

It stomped a few times, but noticed that Kazuki wasn’t even looking at it. Instead, his entire focus was on releasing his own fire energy, so this new fire energy from the meat did not continue to rise.

Flames of blue and white erupted from Kazuki’s body. It rushed out from his feet and hands, but this wasn’t enough. He opened his mouth and roared at the sky.

*RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!*

Like a dragon god, a blazing inferno of white-hot flames escaped his mouth and poured out continuously.

The fire energy in him was still not exhausted fats enough.

(More, I need to release even more!)

Kazuki had perfect control over his body and quickly opened every pore on the surface of his skin. Immediately, his dry skin burned as fire danced across his flesh. The fire energy was simply too much, and he was now melting from both the inside and outside. He looked like a devil bathed in fire, as everything burned.

(Still not enough! MORE! MORE! MORE!)

Kazuki used his aura to mimic the wind before creating a large tornado around his body with him at the center.

(If this doesn’t work, nothing else will. NOW…BURN!!!)
