Return of the Fallen Volume 13 Chapter 41

Kazuki had utilized all of the abilities he could and squeezed out every ounce of power. A blazing white fire that reached a temperature beyond any known star burst forth from his back. For a moment, it seemed as if time itself slowed as Kazuki accelerated forward, almost as if he were a bolt of lightning.

Even with all his power, this was still not enough. The beam of green death had already appeared in front of him. It was mere inches from his face and even if his speed suddenly 10 ex’d he would still have no way of escaping.

Just as Kazuki and Monsuta were about to be swallowed by this unbelievable power, the storm in the distance had arrived.

*CRACK KA-BOOOOOOOOOM!*

A bolt of crimson lightning swept in between Kazuki and the giant’s beam of death.

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*

The lightning intercepted and slammed directly into the giant’s attack causing a massive explosion that rocked the sky. Kazuki and Monsuta who were right there near the heart of the explosion got caught in the enormous blast and were sent crashing down toward the acidic river below.

The entire sky lit up. One half was colored in a veil of blood red while the other half was the same glowing green from the giant shriekers mist. A strange reaction spread through both sides of the sky. Lightning continued to crackle and thunder boomed in response. The green mist moved as if it had a will of its own and the two attacks continued pushing one another as if they were two mountains colliding with one another.

Neither mountain of power would give and finally, a second explosion rang out as the lightning and mist destroyed one another.

At the same time, Kazuki and Monsuta were unconscious and falling rapidly. The blast was so devastating that it destroyed nearly all of Kazuki, leaving a small portion of his head and a single disfigured arm.

Kazuki could feel the mist that was closer to the ground stinging and biting his flesh. His eyelids twitched and fluttered as he awoke from the intense pain. His head and arm were covered in part of Monsuta’s armor. Kazuki had completely lost consciousness while the blast had awoken Monsuta. In that split moment between life and death, Monsuta had wrapped himself and Kazuki in the remaining armor.

The moment Kazuki’s eyes had snapped open, his white fire came roaring out from beneath the pair just before they splashed into the yellow river. With a thought, the direction of the fire changed and they were pushed away from the river where they landed near the shore.

The second the armor touched the shore, Monsuta could no longer keep it together and it crumbled right there and then. Dropping them onto the ground. Kazuki felt a sense of panic. He knew it was only a matter of tie before the green mist finished them off but to his surprise, the closing ring of mist was no more.

Kazuki felt a sharp pain on his arm and face and saw a spark of red electricity dance across the surface of his skin before it too dissipated.

(That attack just now completely countered the green mist and they destroyed one another. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!)

As the lightning and mist vanished altogether, Kazuki’s attention was directed up above. The giant shrieker was in a foul mood and his booming voice shook the sky.

“BODOCK! I WAS WONDERING WHAT PIECE OF SHIT SHOWED UP AND INTERFERED. TURNS OUT IT WAS A BASTARD OF THE GERIAN RACE. ATTACKING ME WITHOUT WARNING YOU SEEK YOUR OWN DEATH!”

In the sky, a strange-looking creature floated on a red cloud. The creature had pale skin and stood 7 feet tall. With two horns atop his head, he appeared human in the face and body for the most part. The things that really differed were the long devilish tail that looked as if there was a spade attached to the end. Wing sprouting from its back was akin to a dragon’s. They were large, seemingly too large for the creature’s body.

Hands seemed normal from here and Kazuki could not see the feet as they were clad in some kind of metal boots. The creature wore silver armor and even had armor covering its tail and wings. It stared coldly at the giant shrieker with its own red eyes. A pair of fangs protruded slightly from the edge of its mouth.

It looked in Kazuki’s direction for a split second, narrowed, and then returned to the giant shrieker in front of it.

It pointed a long heavy blade at the giant shrieker.

“Don’t speak my name monster. It feels vile coming off of your foul tongue.”

The shrieker’s yellow eyes glowed brighter and the power all around it rose several times. The creature called BODOCK seemed completely unburdened by this domineering pressure and simply drew a long heavy sword from its back. This blade was not normal. From the tip of the blade down to its base, there was a small gap between the metal. Almost as if the sword was a two-pronged fork rather than a sword.

The moment Bodock drew this sword from his back, red lightning filled the gap between the metal and crackled violently. Kazuki could feel the power from here. His body had just finished regenerating and all the hair upon him stood on end.

Monsuta was in terrible shape and needed help healing as soon as possible or death was right around the corner. With the giant shrieker now distracted with a true opponent, there was no reason, no fucking way, Kazuki would stay behind.

Once more he picked up Monsuta with his aura and took off as fast as possible.

He left after images in his wake and quickly raced for the edge of the battlefield. He had only traversed a few thousand feet when he caught something rushing at him from out of the corner of his eye.

A fist came toward his face when unbelievable speed. He instinctively tried to block it and in doing so the fist immediately changed direction. Kazuki was surprised by this skill and pivoted on his back foot. The fist flew past his face and he tried to create more distance when a tail came whipping at him from behind at an even faster speed.

With a backflip, he just barely managed to dodge the tail and it slammed hard into the ground splitting it.

“Oh, this one’s fast to be able to dodge me. Guess I should stop playing.”

A woman’s voice entered his ear. Just as he tried to understand the situation, the tail came racing back, this time it was nearly three times quicker than before. Kazuki could feel the danger and had no time to dodge. He was not ready to escape all of this shit just to die here. A tiny rock came flying out of his chest pocket and entered his mouth. With a thought, the rock changed and covered the top and bottom of his teeth.

It was the first Monsuta rock he had made.

With his mouth wide open, he didn’t hesitate to slam it shut to bite this woman’s tail. Just before he could crunch down on it, another tail came flying out from behind him. A new opponent had landed right next to him without him noticing. With a heavy impact, this tail knocked him on the back of his head.

At the same time, a hand came flying forward in front of his face and caught the woman’s tail just before it pierced Kazuki’s head.

The woman was pissed.

“Verick, What do you think you’re doing? why did you stop me from killing this weird creature?”

The man called Verick looked at the woman with a calm expression.

“A moment later and you would be missing a large piece of your tail. You should be thanking me Runa.”

The woman called Runa snatched her tail back.

“What foolish nonsense are you speaking? I admit this weird creature was a little faster than I initially thought but its strength is weaker than my own, that much I can tell with a glance.”

As soon as she said this, Kazuki, who they thought was unconscious suddenly lunged forward with his mouth wide open. Just as he was about to bite down on the woman, the man called Verick drew a sword in front of Kazuki’s open mouth.

*CRUNCH*

The sound of metal breaking and shattering sounded out and the sword was snapped in half. Verick still remained calm and his tail whipped forward and ensnared Kazuki’s neck. With a terrifying crushing force, Verick’s tail squeezed with a seemingly unbreakable force. The woman called Runa instinctively stepped backward. She felt a chill run down her spine.

(Am I actually afraid of this weird creature?)

Kazuki tried to fight back but the strength in this creature’s tail was overwhelming. He could not break free from it.

With a thought, white fire erupted from Kazuki’s hand and covered it like a glove. He grabbed Vericks tail and immediately the sound of flesh burning erupted. Verick’s expression warped slightly and the calm demeanor was no more. Still, his tail was tough and he managed to put up with it. He lifted Kauzki up and began slamming him into the ground again and again and again. With the speed of his tail, he managed to slam Kazuki into the ground several hundred times within a single second.

The strength of this tail was beyond Kazuki’s own. With him still being choked out, his consciousness began to fade.

(NO! I Have to…esc

Kazuki had been through too much and had exhausted his mind, body, and soul. His power was depleted, and he had just barely survived a large explosion. With this creature called Verick repeatedly slamming him with unbelievable force while also squeezing the life out of him. Kazuki could no longer resist and his mind went black.
