Return of the Fallen Volume 13 Chapter 91
Kazuki wielded his aura like a hammer. A mighty tool meant to destroy or create. With his near-perfect control over aura, he worked ahead and was actively forging hundreds of thousands of swords all at the same time. Each strike of these blades sent off an explosive force that shook the entire mansion up above. Along with it, the sound of continuous explosions similar to thunder boomed in the drums of everyone’s ears for miles around.
Those in the mansion were unaware of what Kauzki was creating. To the many servants and soldiers, it was as if a great evil being was ripping open the ground from below and attempting to swallow the world and everything in it.
A massive panic for those not in the know took place because of this. Some dropped to their knees immediately and began to pray to the primordial one as well as to Mefius while others prepared to flee the mansion as well as the city.
Kazuki’s antics caused all focus down below to be both on him and not him. The observing orb watched Kazuki through all of this but Mefius could not give his full attention to one person. Not when the entire mansion and many in the city were losing their grip.
He watched Kazuki but also took care of things above ground. Because of this, Kazuki found the perfect opportunity. His aura was already within the lava vents. Down in these river-like tunnels of fiery lava, there were no observing crystals.
With his aura not being observed down below, Kazuki went even further. He split his aura countless times and weaved these separate threads of aura to and fro making a complicated web of aura. Now if one were to look upon it and sense it you would be able to easily find the beginning but never the end.
(This may be overly cautious but I’d rather be safe than sorry.)
Through the minuscule cracks in the firey tunnels, Kauzki managed to squeeze his aura through the tiny flaws in the walls and his aura made its way to the secret room.
Once more a guard was blocking the secret room.
(So Bearon really was released from Mefius’s frozen painting. This all but confirms he can only hold a single person within his painting at once.)
Bearon sensed Kazuki’s aura instantly. Before Bearon spoke up, Kauzki just continued moving his aura forward, basically ignoring Bearon’s presence.
(Sometimes one does not need to say anything to get by. So long as you act as if you are supposed to be there, most will simply let you go by without questioning. Bearon is hesitating to stop me. It’s obvious he is thinking about our last encounter.)
Kazuki moved his aura directly in front of Bearon and Bearon’s eyes glowed from behind his helmet. It looked as if he would say something when Kazuki just brushed past him. Bearon only watched quietly as Kazuki sent his aura directly into the secret room.
If Kazuki could actually sweat in this Hell Realm, he knew his clothes would be soaked at the moment.
(He must be able to sense what is going on up above. The fact that he let me pass, he must believe I really have been ordered to come here.)
Kazuki could sense a new observing crystal floating silently down the long corridor. It was currently looking left and right and all over. Kazuki’s theory was correct. The Gerians really did have trouble using their aura to a certain extent.
(Since Mefius is using multiple observing crystals at once, there must be some type of limit to what he can do. With the mess going on upstairs, he must be having difficulty watching and controlling all of these observing crystals at once. While I’m still forging swords a few floors up, I’m also down here in this secret room. Dividing my focus like this is a breeze for me but for Gerian’s it seems to be a monumental task.)
Kazuki couldn’t help but laugh as he felt some relief.
(I faked permission once, Bearon would have no idea someone would do such a thing when it came to Mefius. The consequences would be instant death. It’s for this same reason that Bearon would never think someone would fake permission to come down here twice.)
After entering the secret room, Kazuki felt Yidriss’s power around the room and half a second later a dark shadow appeared in front of him.
As soon as Yodriss appeared a voice boomed in Kauzki’s head.
(WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!? HOW MANY DAYS DO YOU THINK HAVE PASSED AND YOU NEVER SENT ANOTHER WORD!)
Kazuki could understand this. He had mentioned plans for stopping Mefius and then the next thing you know he was gone for several days without any messages or anything else. The current trust between Kazuki and Yidriss was newly formed and ever fragile. Because of this, Kazuki wasn’t angered by this accusatory tone, and he quickly shared his memories over the last few days.
After seeing these memories, Yidirss grew solemn.
(No, how can this be? They’ve found another route. How did they discover this ritual?)
Yidriss flew around the room in a panicked state.
(So it wasn’t a bluff. Mefius really has found a way. Does this mean he can really force me from this room and make me summon the Primordial one!?)
(Wait wait wait! Mind informing me. I only witnessed the ritual but there’s obviously more to this story than meets the eye. What does all of this mean exactly? I know they can find the shriekers now but how does that relate to you or anything else?)
Yidriss looked down at Kazuki’s aura and flew in front of him.
(Just take a look and you will know all.)
Yidriss extended some of its power and with it, flashes of memories entered Kazuki’s aura and before filling his head.
He saw a ritual similar to the one he had just witnessed on the surface. It showed not only Yidriss but Mefius, his brothers, and many more from different races before they went extinct.
This ritual though was not to locate the shriekers but instead to locate all the champions, the representatives of every race. While others were chosen to accept the primordial ones’ power, one being was chosen to bring this power into this plane of existence. The ritual consisted of several different creatures being sacrificed and condensed into a single orb of power. Instead of the orb simply flying off like what Kauzki had just seen, this time a single entity took this orb in before turning into pure fire, the primordial one.
As soon as the primordial one appeared, it began to divide its power before sending it out to into the world and then into the champions to absorb.
Seeing how similar the rituals were, something began to click for Kazuki after a few more memories they finally came to a stop and flowed no more. This new information connected with things he had already learned of and he was stunned.
Sensing Kazuki’s expression through his aura, Yidriss nodded.
“Now that you’ve seen it, do you understand why I had that reaction?”
Kazuki truly did understand and he knew how dire the situation really was.
(Yidriss, the ritual Mefius used is only a part of it but with it, he basically has what he needs. He can already activate it to locate the shriekers. In order to summon the primordial one and absorb its supreme powers, he needs a sacrifice from many different races. Because there are so few left in this Realm, the choices are actually very little. Among them are the shriekers or rather the five kings.)
(Yes Kazuki, he needs the shrieker kings or rather just a single one of them. Once he obtains one Shrieker king and sacrifices it along with the other few races he needs, he will somehow force me to summon the primordial one. What you witnessed earlier today was just a small-scale version of the ritual. He will need an ocean of primordial flame, otherwise, the primordial one will not appear. From what I saw from your mind, he already has the different species gathered. All of them except the shriekers. Now he knows where to find them and then theres the question of primordial flame. To get an amount that covers the land and mountains, a great slaughter will take place.)
Several floors up above, Kazuki almost paused his hammering from this shocking news. Thankfully his focus was impeccable and he continued his work.
Down below he was till communicating with Yidriss as he realized something.
(So these swords will be used for that slaughter. I already knew this but knowing now how close Mefius is, changes things. He has basically everything he needs already, the only thing missing is the insane amount of primordial flame he requires along with the shrieker Kings.)
Yidriss added on top of that.
(Exactly. Mefius has basically everything and is merely waiting for one thing and one thing only before he starts.)
Kazuki felt a pit in his stomach as he spoke a single word.
(SWORDS!)
