This offer was an insult and disgusting, to say the least. Sometimes gods did indeed end up becoming slaves. For the most part, this was due to the fact that those gods had severe soul damage, and their powers were in turn greatly reduced. Some gods, instead of killing their opponents, would have them enslaved and sold for a stupid price just to further torture and humiliate their enemies.

Not being killed on the field of battle, being reduced to another’s toy, there was no greater sense of humiliation. The loss of respect and honor was something nearly impossible to recover from and would leave a mark for all to see.
