After a large meal and a bath, everyone met up in one of the rooms. Kazuki had decided to rent everyone their own individual room besides Tsura and Mei but Kimi stepped forward saying she would share with Sam and not waste money.

Everyone eyed Sam and Kimi and Asuna wanted to say something but she could see there was no changing her mind and it was settled.

The rooms were not very big and were furnished simply with a small desk with a single chair, a chest for storing clothes and other items and a single bed. The ceiling had a small crystal embedded in it that glowed similarly like a light bulb, releasing a soft light. There was a switch on the wall by the door as well as a switch next to the bed to turn the light on and off.

Since the room was small and there were 8 people in the room, most people ended up sitting on the bed or floor.

Danny seemed annoyed as he sat on the floor with arms crossed. Every once and a while he gave Shin a vicious glare as Shin sat comfortably on the only chair in the room.

“Ryuta, why did you call us into here, couldn’t we have just sat back down in the dining hall downstairs?”

Kazuki shook his head.

“What I have to say should not be heard by outsiders.”

Danny’s attention turned toward Mei and Tsura.

“If that’s so then why are the two of them still in here?”

“They are my responsibility and if they are going to trust me and follow along with their lives then I’d say they have a right to know what they are getting into.”

Danny went quiet. Looking around the room no else seemed particularly bothered by it so Kazuki explained the situation to the two. He told them about how he and the others had been summoned here to fight shape-shifting creatures called Azirians, who desire for one thing and that’s to feed. Kazuki then went on to tell the two mother and daughter the journey up to this point, of course leaving out details he deemed not for them but basically they were now caught up.

Mei seemed clueless but Tsura trembled where she sat.

“So what you’re telling me is that if those Azirian creatures aren’t destroyed once and for all, our world is doomed?”

Kazuki nodded.

“Then what do you all intend to do? Are you actually gonna fight when that Garn fellow is looking to capture or even kill you? What is the plan, what are you all going to do?”

The room fell silent. This caused Tsura to realize something.

“Don’t tell me, you all have no plan. Not one of you.”

Tsura looked around the room and a few people avoided her gaze. It was obvious that they had nothing solid.

“This…this can’t be.”

Tsura’s shoulder slumped in defeat. Had she known how dangerous the outside was maybe it would have been better to remain within the forest ignorant of the end of the world’s fast approach. At least that way she could spend her remaining days somewhat happy with her daughter. To be left completely unaware though, that too scared her. To not know that something was coming until it was upon you, how frightening she thought.

“About a plan, I might have some thoughts if anyone is interested.”

Danny uncrossed his arms and stood up but with not much of a response from everyone, he quickly crossed them back and was now clearly annoyed.

“Hmpf, if you’re not interested then fine.”

Asuna rolled her eyes.

“If you have any ideas then tell us. There’s no reason to pout.”

“Huh, who’s pouting? I’m just simply wondering if me talking will just be a waste of my time.”

Shin laughed at Danny.

“Hahaha, Asuna, quit teasing him, you’ll make the boy cry.”

Danny snapped at Shin.

“Bitch, who’s a boy, we’re both the same age.”

Shin jumped to his feet in anger.

“Who you callin a bitch, you piece of shit. I was clearly just kidding with you and you call me that. What’s your problem?”

Danny smirked at Shin.

“I was just kidding, can’t you take a joke, Shin, why are you so mad?”

Shin’s fury rose another level, realizing that Danny had clearly played him.

“Alright, that’s enough out of both of you. Are you two really gonna start a fight in this tiny room. Have you all forgotten what was just said? We need a plan and soon, otherwise, we’ll just be wandering aimlessly with our thumbs up our asses.”

Kazuki was getting tired of these seventeen-year-olds constantly having a pecking match with one another.

“Danny’s the one insulting people, I was just trying to lighten the mood.”

“Hmpf, your lightening the mood is always at the other person’s expense. It’s obvious and plain as day, that you are the constant splinter in this group’s side. In the end, Shin, you play entirely too much.”

Kazuki stood up and grabbed Danny by his shirt. Reaching out with his other hand, he went to grab Shin by the shirt as well but Shin using his incredible speed dodged out of the way with a turn of his body. Smirking to himself he thought.

(Hehehe, always acting like you’re everybody’s leader. Let’s see the dumb look on your face when you can’t grab me. How embarrassed will you be in front of everyone.)

Shin watched Kazuki’s hand fly past him with a grin but only a split second later his grin disappeared as Kazuki’s hand suddenly changed directions. Like a snake, his hand turned oddly and came shooting back at Shin’s chest at a weird angle. Shin tried to pivot once more but the room they were in was far too small. Before he could make his next move, Shin was grabbed and held in place. Shin used his strength to pull away but was shocked by Kazuki’s display of power.

(What!)

Shin was using everything he had to try and pull away but found he couldn’t budge even an inch. Although their strength had appeared close on the surface, deep down Kazuki had tapped into his ki as well. With this extra power holding Shin, it became like a vise grip and he could do nothing to break it.

Shin became shocked.

(This…How is he this strong? How can he surpass my speed?)

Shin felt blow after blow strike his ego as he witnessed Kazuki’s simple display of power. After struggling for a moment he suddenly ceased his struggle and locked eyes with Kazuki. That’s when he felt something terrible. Looking into Kazuki’s eyes for some reason filled him with dread. It reminded him of the time he was being chased through the Mirian swamps by the Limit Beast or the Lodian wasps. Like a predator was constantly at your tail ready to take your life at a moment’s notice.

Shin suddenly found it very difficult to breathe and cold sweat appeared on his forehead. His face began to go pale white like paper and his knees grew weak. Finally, Kazuki spoke to him.

“Will you settle down now or do you want to press your luck?”

Shin swallowed hard and relented. Kazuki without another word to him released Shin and he fell to the floor and back away. Everyone was staring at him, confused by what just happened. They merely saw Kazuki from the back and only then they only saw him grab Shin by the shirt before letting him go. By their eyes, Shin was overreacting for no reason.

Shin, on the other hand, experienced something much more significant. Kazuki had changed the direction of his grab and sped up and caught him like it was nothing before holding Shin in place, not allowing him to move one bit. If it were simply just a matter of Kazuki being a little stronger than Shin then he would still have been able to move a bit. Kazuki’s strength though was so much more, that Shin couldn’t even budge one iota. This meant that he was several-fold stronger than Shin.

Finally, when their eyes met and Shin felt as though he was about to die just from Kazuki’s look, Shin didn’t know what one would have to go through to have such eyes and began to question what he knew about Kazuki.

(How are we considered similar? Ryuta, what the hell was that?)

Shin looked away from everyone and wished to avoid stares for the rest of the day if possible.

Kazuki, on the other hand, placed both his hands on Danny’s shoulders.

“How about the rest of the day we don’t call one another anything but our names. How does that sound Danny?”

Danny felt weirded out by Kazuki’s attitude and he could tell that something was off but shrugged it away.

“Fine, it’s not as though I would disagree with that. Sorr…”

Kazuki cut Danny off before he could finish.

“Ah, there’s no need for apologies. Let’s just move forward, after all, we are gonna be in this together for a good while at least, right?”

Danny raised a brow.

“Right.”

With a few nods, Kazuki pat Danny on the shoulder and sat back down.

“Ok, so tell me about your plan and we’ll go from there.”
