Danny had just cleaved Reya in half and was on the verge of celebrating when he felt a terrible burning feeling in his chest. Looking at the ground in front of him, Triska’s trident had pierced deeply into the ground. His head naturally fell down and that’s when he saw a large hole in the center of his chest and he thought.
(How strange.)
His vision grew dim and dark and he could feel no breath in his lungs. All light faded from his eyes and he could no longer think properly.
*Thud*
Danny collapsed to the ground dead.

“How the fuck did this one get in here!?”
Danny’s eyes snapped open. He was laying against a tall tree that seemed to stretch into the sky.
“Oh, this isn’t good. The aura is trying to crush you. It pulled you in here with me but it thinks you’re an enemy, how odd.”
Before Danny, a small child was speaking as though he were a young adult. The kid looked no older than 10 but seemed as if he could see right through oneself.
“Who…where am I?”
No sooner did he ask that question, did he jump up in a panic.
“The battle! I was in the middle of a fight when.”
Danny couldn’t help but grab at his chest and look down for a wound but to his surprise, there was nothing there. No wound or blood, not even the tiniest of scratches. A question mark appeared above his head or at least that’s what Kai interpreted from Danny’s dumb face.
“You seem confused. Well give me a moment and I’ll try to explain. For now, sit there, shut up, and don’t move about, your soul is being crushed by the aura. It seems to be trying to absorb you?”
“What! Kid where did you come from what are you talking about? I have to return to the fight, they need me.”
“Such a bother.”
Kai stepped forward and punched out.
*Thud*
He landed a strike directly in Danny’s stomach and Danny flew back in pain. His back landed hard against the tree and Kai began to manipulate something invisible in this place. In doing so, branches stretched out from the tree and grabbed Danny pulling him partially into the tree. Danny was stuck halfway in the tree and he was about to panic before Kai shouted at him.
“Relax kid, I’m not gonna hurt ya. I’m trying to save you or rather, what’s left.”
Kai pointed at Danny’s hand and Danny got another shock. His hand was becoming transparent and he felt as though he were growing weaker and weaker by the second.
“Don’t be afraid, you can trust me.”
“This, am I dying?”
Kai shook his head.
“Dying? No, you’re already dead. Now shut up for now so you don’t go even further than dead.”
Danny felt a chill run down his spine. He had a million questions and didn’t know what to think. That’s when he recognized the child before him. No, it was not someone he had ever met, rather it was someone Kazuki knew.
(From Kazuki’s memories, this boy, isn’t he Kai.)
“Damn, this is really gonna suck. You’re lucky you’re one of Kazuki’s friends, otherwise, I wouldn’t care if you disappeared. I know Kazuki would probably not forgive me if he knew I could save one of his friends and I sat around on my ass and did nothing.”
Danny was confused by that comment.
(Just what is going on. This is Kazuki’s older brother but he’s a kid and we’re both in some weird place and everyone is just gone.)
Danny’s mind was running at a million miles an hour with a million more questions. Before he could ask a single one though, Kai stood before him and placed one hand on the tree and the other on Danny’s forehead before he shut his eyes. A moment later a whirlwind of air gathered around and Kai opened his eyes.
“3rd form, Severing Tempest.”
Kai’s finger sunk two inches into Danny’s forehead and Danny’s mind went completely blank for a second. The aura surrounding Danny vanished and an unseen pressure around him dissipated.
The next thing Danny knew and he had opened his eyes once more. He was again lying against that same tall tree but this time he no longer felt weak. He slowly stood up and for a moment he thought he was taller. Looking down at Kai though he soon realized it wasn’t he that had grown but instead it was Kai who had visibly shrunk.
“What…what did you do?”
“What I had to. Your soul was being crushed by the godly aura and was on the verge of going bye-bye for good so I had to sever you away from what it wanted and fused you with this soul world. Don’t worry, now that you’ve been severed away and you’re fused with this soul world, that aura shouldn’t bother you anymore.”
“Severed me away from what it wanted. What the hell does that mean, what is going on? Just give me a straight answer already, this is insane.”
Danny was going on a rant when a voice came from behind.
“Danny, you, how are you here?”
Danny turned around to see Kazuki standing before him or rather a small child that resembled Kazuki.
“Kazuki, your so small. Wait that doesn’t matter. What the hell is all this? That’s your brother right but this place and he said I died but that doesn’t make any sense.”
As Danny spoke, he noticed how quiet Kazuki had suddenly become, as well as the bitter expression he wore.
Kazuki put a hand up and stopped Danny from speaking any further. Kazuki didn’t want to drag things on or rather he had no time to.
“Danny, this is my soul world. It is something inside of me that holds my soul as well as my Mage core. I don’t know what happened for you to be brought in here but the truth is…your dead. Outside of here is the real world and out there, you just died a few moments ago. The body that you have in here is in fact not an actual body but your soul. I’m sorry Danny but you’re gone.”
These words, Danny knew Kazuki would not play like this in such a situation. He knew those words, were true and they hit him like a ton of bricks. Danny fell to his knees.
“Tsura…what about Tsura?”
“She’s fine for now but I know this may seem rude, especially right now but I didn’t come in here to play. Right now, outside of here, we are being bombarded by a terrifying storm and if I don’t come up with a plan soon, we are all going to die out there.”
Kazuki walked over to Danny and briefly grabbed his shoulder.
“I’m sorry. If I make it out of there I’ll try to explain all of these circumstances but for now, I’m going to discuss a plan with my brother.”
Kazuki then let go and walked past Danny. He began conversing with Kai when Danny stood up and roared up at the sky.
*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*
The sudden shout was shocking but understandable. Kazuki and Kai though didn’t know how to respond.
“Danny…”
Danny fell back to the ground and began punching and clawing at everything around him but he could damage nothing inside of here not even himself. Kazuki and Kai walked over to him but the two still said nothing. Danny however calmly spoke.
“So I’m really dead?”
Kazuki felt a twist in his gut.
“Yes.”
Danny slowly stood up and turned to face both of them.
“Tsura is still out there, she and little Mei are in danger.”
“Yes.”
Danny closed his eyes for a moment before he slowly opened them.
“Okay, let’s come up with a plan.”
Kazuki was about to say something, stop him from trying. Now was not the time but Kai grabbed his arm.
“Little dummy, why turn down help when it presents itself before us. Danny, You may not know this but I’ve watched you and the others for a long time. When it comes to problem-solving, I’ve seen how your mind works. You’re very intelligent but also quite cowardly. Right now, the others might really die, this is no time to hold back. If they are going to win, then they have to go all out you know. So look at the bigger picture and show us something amazing.”
Kazuki thought Kai went too far but Danny reacted to such words as though a flame were lit under his ass. Danny rubbed his chin in thought for a moment. Kazuki recognized that move. Danny always did that when he was deep in thought. Something was brewing in Danny’s mind.
“Ok, here’s what you and the others will do…”
—————————————————————————-
“Can we talk about the whole dead thing?”
He asked that question with such calm, it was almost unsettling. There he stood though or rather there was Danny’s soul. Similar to Kai, Danny’s body had died, there was no denying that fact. Kazuki nodded and the three sat down and talked.
