Kazuki pulled his hand back and clasped his hand into a fist. Abura was so confused by this. The smell of magic coming from Kazuki was dense and thick in the air.

“What are you…”

*Wham*

Before Abura could finish his sentence, Kazuki had already punched him in the nose, breaking it on contact, sending blood spraying everywhere. Kazuki’s body was stronger than ever before after reforging his Mage core and he was only growing stronger as his cells were constantly absorbing magical energy like a sponge.

The blow caused Abura to become unsteady on his feet and stumble backward stupidly. He caught himself before he fell and gripped his face in pain.

“Ow, that…that hurt.”

Kazuki took a step forward and Abura reached forward and grabbed Kazuki’s shoulder to hold him in place.

“Why did you hit me? I’m gonna…”

Abura was in mid-sentence again when Kazuki reached over and grabbed Abura’s wrist and gave it a squeeze.

*Crack*

A snapping sound rang out and Abura’s wrist broke like a twig.

*Ahhhh!*

Abura screamed in pain and tried to punch Kazuki in retaliation using his other arm but Kazuki stopped his punch and gripped that hand as well. Once again, Kazuki applied some strength and a similar noise entered his ear.

*Crack*

Abura screeched in horror and tried to pull away but he found Kazuki’s strength was overwhelming his.

“Le…let me go. It hurts.”

Kazuki ignored Abura’s cries and swung his head forward like a hammer.

*Crack*

Kazuki’s head slammed into Abura’s nose. Whatever was broken in Abura’s nose a second ago was now crushed further and his nose became merely a flap of squishy skin hanging over his lip. His already fat face started swelling and large tears filled with pain fell from his eyes.

Kazuki didn’t care though. He felt he had been pushed around for far too long and it was time for some much-needed payback. Unfortunately for Abura, the outlet for Kazuki’s frustration would be directed at him at this moment. Kazuki swung his head forward again.

*Bam*

Kazuki’s head hit Abura’s nose again but he didn’t stop. He swung his head forward again and again and again. Abura cried tears of agony and his legs had given out from underneath him long ago but Kazuki refused to stop. Kazuki still held onto Abura’s wrist and hand and wailed on him for several minutes and no matter how much Abura tried to resist or pull away and block, he could do nothing.

A flood of suppressed emotions that Kazuki had bottled up for more than 10 years exploded out from him. Having his Mage core ripped from him, witnessing his brother being murdered all by the one they loved. Cutting off all of his feelings, only to have his granny Master Maya reopen a place in his heart. Only for her to be killed and him losing the ones he cared about again. Wondering Earth for years and years without direction. Learning the ancient hand signs from the walls of an abandoned ruin.

Shadowing Ryuta for over a year, picking up and copying every aspect of his life just to come back to Gordonia to take revenge. Everything that followed after. All of this he had to just push through and bear with it but not now. With his Mage core reborn anew, his path which had been sealed finally had cracked open a sliver. Hate, anger, sorrow, joy, pain, pride, dispair. Everything came rushing forth.

By the time he was done smashing Abura’s face in. Kazuki wore a fiendish grin. His face and chest were covered in Abura’s blood. The taste of iron in his mouth brought him back to his senses. Looking up at Kazuki through all the blood and tears, Kazuki appeared to be a death god in his vision. Kazuki had finally stopped but Abura feared he would continue right away if he didn’t say anything. Abura begged through broken teeth.

“Ple…st…stop.”

Abura’s words were slurred. Whether it was from the blood loss or the many blows to the head who knew but hearing Abura’s plea, Kazuki’s smile only widened.

He let go of one of Abura’s hands and Abura wept in relief but very quickly his body shook in fear as Kazuki began to gather power in his right hand. Now that Kazuki had a Mage core and since he still had a magic ring on, he no longer needed the ancient hand signs to create fire. Within a few seconds, a blue flame wrapped around Kazuki’s right hand like a glove. Abura could feel the heat stinging at the surface of his skin and tried to reel back but Kazuki still held his right arm in place by the wrist.

“You took Kimi’s right arm and then you ate it, right?”

Abura’s mouth flapped as he tried to come up with anything but he was never a very good thinker and was lost. Kazuki wouldn’t hear any excuses right now anyway. Holding Abura’s right arm in place, Kazuki chopped down with his blue flame.

*Thud*

Abura’s right arm fell lifelessly on the snow. Abura fell over and convulsed as more tears streamed down his face.

*AHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*

He screamed like a wild boar that just had its balls crushed.

Kazuki’s flame had been so hot that the wound was cauterized as he cut through it. No blood had been spilled but that didn’t stop the agony Abura was in.

Kazuki picked up the arm and didn’t hesitate to take a bite out of it, Tearing a large chunk of flesh. Kazuki chewed in front of Abura before swallowing it down.

“Disgusting. That should settle some debts.”

Abura watched all of this in horror and managed to mutter through a bloodied mouth.

“Monster!”

Abura rolled over and began to crawl away desperately. How could Kazuki let him go though? Kazuki walked over casually and lifted his leg. With power, he brought his foot down like a sledgehammer right on Abura’s calf.

*Crack*

A loud snap rang out, followed by Abura’s howl of pain. Kazuki wanted to plug his ears, Abura was so annoying. Instead, he decided to break Abura’s other leg and with another stomp, he did just that.

*Crack*

Another snap echoed out as Kazuki broke Abura’s other leg.

Kazuki walked over and stepped on Abura’s only other arm and broke that one as well. Turning the fatty over, he looked like a large baby. There was no anger or hatred in Abura’s eyes, only true and utter fear.

“Ple…n…mo.”

Kazuki leaned in closer and put a hand over his own ear and said teasingly.

“Huh…what’s that? I can’t hear you. Do speak up?”

“Ple…i…i don wan ta die.”

Kazuki nodded along and crossed his arms over his chest as though he were deep in thought.

“Fine. I can let you live. After all, you’ve already suffered thoroughly.”

Abura’s beady eyes gleamed in surprise and relief as though a beam of light shined down upon him from the heavens above.

*Cough cough*

“Rea…really?”

Kazuki nodded.

“Sure.”

Just as Abura was about to thank him, Kazuki piped up.

“But first, you owe me some type of compensation. empty your storage ring.”

Abura swallowed painfully. He was slightly hesitating.

“Or you could just hand over another arm. I could take your legs as well, yep that seems fair.”

Abura hesitated no longer and a small pile of items fell out next to him. Kazuki looked at them and found that most of them were nothing more than junk. A few were food magazines followed by a couple of useless trinkets. No gold or jewels or anything that looked like it had any real worth. Kazuki was actually very disappointed. That is until he found a small box. Opening it, he was greeted to an ugly little face covered in greyish-green goo.

(This is…a Mind Frey.)

An interesting thought came to Kazuki.

“Oy, hold still for me.”

Abura knew exactly what Kazuki intended but he didn’t dare resist at this moment. Kazuki’s strength had suddenly exploded out of nowhere and he used a terrifying blue flame with ease. Abura had witnessed a good portion of Kazuki’s memories and knew his Mage core had been taken from him. So at first, he didn’t understand how Kazuki could all of the sudden be stronger than him. Abura was a very slow thinker. After having his head knocked in, something clicked for him.

Kazuki’s newfound strength, his ability to use fire without using his weird ancient hand signs. Smelling the rush of magic just before Kazuki attacked him. Abura put it all together, Kazuki somehow had a Mage core again and with it bought great strength. A strength that Abura knew he couldn’t stand up to and dare not face. Abura was stupid but he knew for a fact that if he didn’t do exactly as Kazuki said, then the only thing waiting for him was the black abyss of death.

Kazuki pulled the slimy little fuck from its box and threw it at Abura. It landed on Abura’s chest and didn’t move.

Kazuki pointed at his neck and Abura nodded knowingly before he sent a small surge of power to the back of his neck. The Mind Frey as though it had just come alive sniffed at the air and lurched around to the back of Abura’s neck. Opening its nasty mouth a spiral of razor-sharp jagged teeth bit down all at once.

*Chomp!*
