The thugs snapped out of it and they all rushed Kazuki at once. In this small confined space, they should have been able to grab Kazuki, stab him, punch, kick, anything, and everything but for the life of them, they couldn’t even come close to touching him.

Kazuki instantly felt a bit of regret from pissing on them. Not because it was a disgusting act but instead because the men tried to touch him with their bodies covered in piss. Kazuki delivered several kicks in front of him. His feet moved so fast that to the thugs it seemed that he had 7 or 8 of them as afterimages rushed outward.

*Thud thud thud whack*

Kazuki didn’t put too much strength into these kicks but it still was enough to launch these people into the air and caused them to crash hard into the walls behind him. One of the thugs, in particular, was most unfortunate and landed directly into an open toilet. The man who left the mess behind in that porcelain bowl would be considered an asshole in any world.

The thug that landed in said bowl was covered at shit splashed on him. He started to puke from the stench and scrambled to his feet to run out of there but he only slipped on the brown and ended up slamming his skull into the side of one of the sinks and knocking himself unconscious.

Kazuki held his nose and waved away the foul air.

“Man you guys are nasty.”

The leader of these thugs saw all this play out before him. He saw Kazuki’s precise movement speed and strength. The way he led the thugs around in such a small space and made them end up in such terrible states, the leader only now recognized that he fucked up. He saw that Kazuki wasn’t some fool from the edge of the world but was a true tiger in sheep’s skin.

The leader dropped his small blade and slowly began to back away but Kazuki wasn’t having it. A fireball the size of a fist formed above his hand and he spoke sinisterly.

“No no no no no, I didn’t say you could leave, did I?”

The thug leader froze in place and was about to answer but by Kazuki’s cold tone, he could tell that the question was a rhetorical one. Kazuki tossed the fireball between hands as though he were going to throw it but didn’t.

“Good, now that you’re staying, how about we have a small chat.”

The leader looked at the sorry sight of his underlings and nodded without hesitation and said nervously.

“A chat, sure, why not.”

“Good, first, you should show the proper respect right? Kneel!”

The leader looked at the combination of piss puke and shit mixed together like a sewer and couldn’t move. Only when Kazuki expanded the fireball and doubled its size did the thug kneel down on all fours like a dog. The foul smell took over his senses and the feeling between his fingers made him sick to his stomach. However, this was much more preferable to a fireball. Even kneeling on the ground couldn’t prevent the heat from Kazuki’s fireball from stinging the thug’s skin.

“Now that you know your place, answer a few questions. First, how did you know I was here and why did you attack me when it was the child who whipped all of your asses?”

The thug looked at the fireball still hovering above Kazuki’s hand and swallowed dryly.

“I’m no one important but I have many underneath me who watch and listen. It wasn’t hard to find people with your description. Especially when my watchers saw a dirt poor group going into a shop to sell things. The reason I attacked you first is that you were by yourself when you entered the bathroom. It only makes sense to take you out one by one. I knew we couldn’t beat that boy but when I saw you come in here alone I figured I could kidnap you and take you, hostage. After that, we would lead the boy and the rest of your group into a trap, at least that’s what I thought we could do, sorry about that please don’t kill me.”

Kazuki was slightly taken aback. He thought his threat would work but he didn’t think it would work so well. The thug leader before him really was spilling everything.

*Bang*

The bathroom door was kicked open and the owner who threw a man out earlier who didn’t pay his bill stormed in. As soon as he saw the mess and the people sprawled out all over the floor, he was about to snap but then his eyes saw the fireball hovering above Kazuki’s hand as well as the thug leader kneeling in the vile before him.

His angered expression turned pale for a moment before he calmed down and he spoke cautiously to Kazuki.

“Sir, I don’t know what all of this is about but that man who is kneeling before you…well, I think you ought to let him up and soon.”

Kazuki turned his head sideways.

“Oh, are you his friend?”

The owner cleared his throat nervously.

“Nnn…no but I still think you should let him up. This is for your sake, not his.”

The man could see that he was only raising more questions and not answering properly so he just jumped straight to the point.

“It’s not about this guy kneeling here but instead his boss. He works for a very dangerous man called Degra.”

Kazuki snorted.

“And who is this Degra? If his subordinate is this weak I can’t imagine how weak he is.”

As soon as he said that both the bar owner and the kneeling thug had an odd look in their eye. To Kazuki, it almost looked like pity but pity for who, for him?

The bar owner smiled bitterly.

“Sir, this man is no weakling. He is the owner of the biggest underground casino in the entire city. Besides thugs and hooligans like Terick right there, he has a few 2nd stage Mages who work under him and dozens of inscription users who have enhanced strength and speed. Degra has connections to the city lord himself and his corruption runs deep. He is filthy rich and untouchable in this city. If even after all that you still wish to scoff at his name, you should know this important fact about him. He is a 3rd stage Mage himself. Not only that, but some also say he’s close to becoming a 4th stage Mage or so the rumors go anyway.”

“Interesting. This man runs a casino you say?”

The bar owner’s brows furrowed.

(Is that the only thing he heard?)

“Yes, he owns the biggest one. Like I said though, he is not one to be trifled with. So sir, I really think you ought to let that man go. If not for Degra’s name, then could you do it for a small bar owner whos worked hard all of his life to open this establishment? I’ve poured in decades for this dream and if you don’t let Terick go then the consequences will not only fall on your head but mine as well. After all, this is my place and I’m responsible for the happenings in my bar.”

Kazuki thought for a moment before the fireball dissipated.

The bar owner sighed in relief. Terick as well slowly stood up. A cocky expression was worn on his face.

“Hmpf that’s more like it. Once my boss hears about you…just you wait.”

The bar owner slapped his forehead hearing Terick’s taunting. He didn’t even have to see Kazuki to know what he was going to do and he knew there was no way he could stop it now.

Kazuki smiled for but a moment at Terick’s smug expression before he flicked his wrist forward. A fireball the size of a golf ball flew out and landed upon Terick’s face. Terick began to panic and tried to pat out the flame but to no avail. He then ran over to the sink to try and drown the fire in one go but before he got to the sink, Kazuki tripped him.

Terick fell face-first into the mess below and some even went into his mouth. This at least snuffed the small inferno but the intense smell of piss, vomit, shit, and now burnt hair and flesh, caused chunks of the day’s lunch as well as the filth before him to come hurling out of his mouth.

Terick puked and puked and puked. Kazuki, as well as the bar owner, had to take a few steps back to avoid it all. Finally, after everything was emptied out of his stomach and he couldn’t hack up anymore, Terick fell over and passed out. Pieces of skin had been burned badly on his face and he was missing all of the hair atop his head. The sight and smell were too much for him and he was lost in dreamland. This nightmare would surely play out within his mind.

Kazuki didn’t even bother with him and instead asked the bar owner.

“So, where exactly is this casino?”

Kazuki hoped over the mess in front of him and landed cleanly by the door before he waved to the owner in a cheery mood and left. The bar owner looked at this mess that surrounded him on all sides. He was trapped in the middle and there was no way he could make a jump like Kazuki just had. Right now though he could care less about the mess and instead thought about the future of his bar if Degra were to know about what had taken place here.

The bar owner drugged to the door before locking it. Then he sighed heavily before he took out a knife from behind his back.

(I can’t have you bastards spilling this. It’s your own faults for messing with someone you shouldn’t have.)

People in the bar drinking and eating thought they heard soft groans or weird shuffling coming from the bathroom but at the end of the day, they couldn’t care less. As long as they had a beer to drink and a few skewers to tide them over before they headed home, they were fine. At least that’s how things worked in shady places such as this.
