The power from this voice was so intense that Kazuki heard it even in his soul world.

His eyes snapped open as fast as lightning and he sprung to his feet and looked out the window. A faint vibration resounded on the window in front of him and trailed off a second later. Kazuki touched the glass and felt the vibration fade.

Outside, a panic was taking place. Children began screaming and crying as Reya’s voice had shattered thousands of windows within the city frightening nearly all of the little ones. Dogs barked like mad and cats hissed and scattered into hiding. The birds dispersed into the sky and fled for dear life while the rats scurried into the darkness.

Horses neighed and bucked, kicking at the empty air as well as each other. It took the marching of over 10 thousand soldiers as well as the vast majority of Mages being deployed before things started to calm down. Everyone was put on high alert. For a voice to spread over an entire city of more than 9 million people, the perpetrator was obviously an expert.

The city lord gave the order to increase the amount guarding all the walls and gates and sent his soldiers and Mages to find the expert as soon as possible.

Kazuki saw the craziness in the streets and thought about the familiarity in the voice.

(That voice, so the big Aziran woman found me but how?)

Kazuki searched within himself and found the godly aura swimming around his Mage core. He felt its energy and its range and it was all contained within him.

(None of it, not even a fraction of it is outside of me and yet Reya had found me. This doesn’t make sense. No wait, she told me to come out. If she knows my exact location, then she can simply sneak in and take me but instead, she screams bloody murder. Does she really know I’m here or is she merely guessing?)

Kazuki threw that thought away almost immediately.

(This shouldn’t be the case. A simple guess like this, announcing her presence in such an aggressive way would make the entire city her enemy. No, she must know I’m here. To randomly yell out at a city, I don’t think that creature is that foolish.)

Tsura, Nunully, and Mei burst through the door wrapped in towels.

“Kazuki, that voice, doesn’t it belong to.”

Kazuki nodded at Nunully.

“I don’t know how but she’s found us. At the very least she knows were inside this city.”

Nunully felt fear creep up her back.

“We have to leave, escape somewhere, anywhere.”

“No, we stay put.”

Nunully was almost in a panic hearing this.

“Kazuki how can you be so calm in a situation like this? An Azirian is hunting you and she’s just outside the city. If we don’t leave now, she, she won’t let you live.”

Kazuki took his compass from his neck.

“Her rage for me is undeniable and it’s clear she wishes me dead but she hasn’t come inside the city. If she knew my actual location, she would have already come for me. She would have struck me down and taken this from my corpse, not even a second after my heart stopped but she’s out there yelling instead. This compass of mine was being tracked by her before but after I reforged my Mage core, she can no longer find me from its excess energy.”

“Excess energy?”

Kazuki went on to explain about the godly aura that came from his compass. They had known about it from when they had witnessed his memories but it’s not like all of those memories were at the forefront of their mind. Memories were strange in that way. If one didn’t think about them often, it was easy to forget some details. Especially if said memories aren’t your own and you have no emotional connection to them.

As soon as Kazuki began to explain though, Mei piped up.

“Eh, isn’t that the energy we felt in that snake man’s office?”

Kazuki was a bit surprised.

“You felt that?”

Mei nodded her little head up and down.

“When I and mama couldn’t move, I felt weird energy around me, and then we could both move again. Big bro, that aura thingy, so that was coming from you and not the old compass. When did you learn to do that?”

Kazuki shook his head.

“It’s not something I can control. It seems to do things on its own.”

Mei didn’t get it.

“How can it be a part of you but you can’t use it. Maybe you’re using it and you don’t know it?”

Nunully crossed her arms.

“And how exactly would that work? How can someone use something from their own body and not know it?”

Mei put her finger to her chin and thought for a moment.

“Maybe it’s like when you breathe. You do it all the time without thinking about it but all of our bodies do it automatically or your when you think about stuffs. You’re using your brain without noticing right?”

Now Nunully wasn’t sure anymore.

Tsura teasingly pinched Mei’s little cheeks.

“Mei Mei, how can you say something that both makes sense and makes no sense at the same time?”

Mei jumped away from her mom and escaped her but Tsura was quick to follow and scooped her up playfully.

Nunully got a little pissed and yelled at the two.

“Do you think nows the time for that! We’re trying to come up with a way to escape from this monster and you two are fooling around!”

Tsura didn’t know what came over herself. She for some reason had really felt the danger because Reya wasn’t directly in front of them and so the threat didn’t feel quite real. She grabbed Mei’s head and pushed it down before lowering her own head as well.

“Sorry, I lost my self for a moment. Nunully, Kazuki, forgive us.”

Mei didn’t get it but she knew she had helped to make big sis mad and so she followed her mother’s suit and apologized as well.

“Big sis, sorry!”

*Haaa*

Nunully sighed and shook her head.

“Sorry for snapping on you two, I’m just…I’m just a little stressed. As soon as things seem to settle down, the devils come out of the cracks.”

Mei grew alert.

“Devils, what devils. Don’t worry big sis, I’ll protect you.”

“Thank you Mei, like I sai…”

“There’s one!”

Mei pointed to a crack on the floor and stomped on it. She then saw another crack between the floorboards and leaped towards it.

“Ah! another crack!”

This went on for two or three more times before Tsura grabbed Mei and punched her on top of her head.

“What are you doing you wildling?”

Mei rubbed her head in pain.

“Eh, but big sis said the devils will come through the cracks, we can’t let that happen. I said I’ll protect big sis, so I’ll protect big sis no matter the danger.”

Tsura couldn’t help but slap herself on the forehead as she spoke towards the sky.

“Husband, where did I fail in raising up our baby?”

Again, Mei was lost but this caused both Kazuki and Nunully to laugh out loud.

Kazuki relaxed and he began to think more clearly.

(I have to calm myself. Kai was right, I have to think a little more before I act rash. The way Nunully was talking, I was almost convinced to actually run away. However, how foolish would that be if she really can still follow after me. I need to find out how she’s doing it. It’s most likely a magic tool. If I can destroy it or block its power, I can then make a clean getaway. For now, though, its best to stay inside the city. Even if she does enter the city, if she can’t narrow down on my location, I can blend in with the residents of Gentis. For her to find a single human in a city of millions of people, would that not be like trying to find a certain grain of sand on a beach. I’ll use the people of this city as camouflage and lay low. No more casino busting. In the meantime, I’ll try to come up with a plan.)

It was at this time that Reya’s voice erupted over the city once more.

“KAZUKI! DO YOU REALLY DARE NOT COME OUT! DO YOU WISH FOR YOUR FRIENDS TO ALL DIE! COULD IT BE, YOU THINK YOUR SAFE WITHIN THESE HUMAN WALLS! LET ME SHOW YOU MY SINCERITY! LET’S SEE IF YOU’LL STILL REMAIN SILENT AFTER THIS!”

The air became quiet after that. No, not just the air, the entire city froze in fear of what would come next.

A small shadow loomed overhead for a moment and an older woman found it strange. She stole a glance at the sky and instantly became as white as a ghost. She seemed to age by 20 years and she felt the life drain from her. She could barely lift her arm and point at the horror above.

A single word escaped her lips.

“rock…!”

This was also her last word because a single second later her entire vision was enwrapped from the humongous object falling on top of her, falling on top of several buildings. This large object came crashing down on top of her and hit the ground like the hammer of god.

*BANG!*
