Reya broke it down for them.
“You all see me as an enemy but in my eyes, you all are mere ants. I can slay you all together in seconds and normally such continued disrespect, I would have already killed you all one by one and eaten your flesh. For now, though you still have your uses. You all seem to have some sort of misconception of the way things stand. That little bit of defiance that made you attack me a moment ago, you all really don’t understand your place in the world. The one I serve, she has already entered the 7th stage. The power she wields, you can not even begin to comprehend. She could topple this continent all on her own if she wishes but instead, she sent me. The trust and pressure of this I understand but there is no such route as failure…not for me.”
Danny and the others didn’t know where she was going with this but she didn’t wait for them to catch up and continued.
“The world will be hers at some point in the future, that’s a guarantee. There are no ifs ands or buts about it. Once the Titans are out of the way, nothing else will stand in her way. To lift the seas and overturn the land and tear the skies apart. Fera is the closest thing to a god this world has and you lot stand against her. You ally yourselves with Kazuki and for what. Did he not run away and abandoned you all. As far as I can tell you guys are barely even acquaintances. Do you not see how stupid that is. You would defy a god to protect someone whos little more than a stranger to you. In the end, you all are risking yourselves for not even his life but the object he holds. I only want that compass he has and nothing more. After that’s in my hands, tell me, is there any reason to keep you all as hostages. I need not threaten you anymore. I’ll simply tell you the truth. Help me and you live, go against me and you die.”
Reya had tried force time and again and she found these humans a bit too resilient. Even now after Danny cried and knelt before her begging, she could still feel defiance from the others. They were weak in her eyes but as long as they kept fighting back, they could topple her plans and ruin everything. She no longer had time to play and decided to change things up a little. Looking at Danny’s weak self, she could tell she got to them. They were tired, wounded, and there will was declining. If she pushed them further with violence she could break them entirely but at the point, they give up at, it wouldn’t surprise her if they just lied down in the snow until the cold took them.
No, she had to give them hope, a single ray of guiding light for them to grab a hold of and cling to like a liferaft. If she could show them a way out when they were on the verge of collapse then surely she could pull everything together and finish this bullshit in one go.
Danny was surprised that Reya didn’t even mention the power. He figured either she believed him and didn’t care or she thought he was lying but with nothing else to explain it, she went along with his tale about inheriting this special sword making ability.
(If she’s not going to question it further and is giving an ultimatum, she’s probably figured it doesn’t matter. She knows she could easily kill me even if I have such a weapon and has pushed it to the back of ehr mind. Her only concern is still that stupid compass. Fine, if she’s not gonna question it, can I take that as her guard lowering. Lets lower it a bit more then shall we.)
Danny wiped his snot and tears away and seemingly took Reya’s words to heart.
“Really! Do you really mean it? You’ll let us live if we help you?”
Asuna’s face turned red and she bellowed out at Danny.
“Traitor! You would really help this, this monster?”
Danny shook his head.
“How can I be a traitor if I do this for all of us. I want to live and I’m sure you do as well. We all do. Reya’s right. How long have we known Kazuki, the real Kazuki? The facts are the facts, he left us all. Even if he didn’t directly cause this situation, his actions have helped lead us down this path. There is no point for dying for a stranger and besides, Reya didn’t say she would kill him. She only wants that dumb compass, why fight her over it?”
“You fool, do you really think she’s gonna get the compass and let Kazuki off just like that?”
“Hmm, if I didn’t know any better, it sounds like you are concerned for him. I could have sworn, you yourself said you hated him just before he left us. Even if she wants him dead, do you really care about someone who doesn’t even care about you, about me, about any of us?”
Danny wasn’t wrong. Asuna was conflicted. She hated Kazuki, with absolute but then why does her heart hurt when she thinks about him being harmed. It doesn’t make sense to her. She knows he’s not Ryuta and for some reason when she found out that Kazuki wasn’t really her friend, relief washed over her. Asuna cursed her self for her conflicting thoughts and didn’t know what to say.
Reya could see that she was almost there and pushed a little.
“If I promise not to kill him, will you help me?”
Asuna’s left eye twitched.
(This bitch really changed her tune and is speaking nicely. After treating us worse than dogs and humiliating us like that.)
Asuna could still feel the broken rib in her side from where Reya punched her and yet now Reya was speaking with such a gentle tone. After having her ass whopped by Reya days before for simply giving her a quote on quote wrong look. The same woman that laughed as Abura tried to eat her. The woman that spoke with absolute bloodlust every time she mentioned Kazuki’s name.
Asuna felt wave after wave of disgust and not even a second later, Danny added to it.
“See, she’s promised to not kill Kazuki. If we simply comply, we can all get out of this and live in peace. This is what’s best for all of us right?”
Hearing his words, Asuna was reminded again of how cowardly Danny was.
“YOU…”
Again Asuna was at a loss for words, her anger clouding her mind.
At this point, she no longer even cared about being naked in front of everyone and felt like she was about to attack Danny at any moment if he said another word.
Sam stepped in at this moment and knelt in front of Reya.
“You swear? You swear you won’t kill Kazuki?”
Asuna’s eyes went wide.
“Sam, you too?”
Sam turned to face her, his gaze serious.
“There’s no point in protecting Kazuki. Whether we help him or not doesn’t matter. He’s made it clear that he can do everything on his own. Since it’s like that, why should we barge in? We have all been through more then enough for him.”
“But…but…he saved you. He saved all of us multiple times, how can we…”
“Stop! He saved us because he wanted to use us later on, that is plenty clear. Going by your logic, we saved him as well plenty. At least enough for ours to cancel out his. As far as I see it, we are as even as even can be. I will not let Kimi suffer anymore. If you can’t do this for me Asuna, at least do it for Kimi.”
Asuna was stunned in silence. Kimi walked over and grabbed Asuna’s hand. She then placed Asna’s hand directly over her stump where her arm was torn off by Abura. Asuna almost panicked and tried to pull her hand away but Kimi used all of her strength to hold her hand in place. Tears streaming down Kimi’s face, Asuna couldn’t tell whether they were from sadness or anger.
“Can you please do this for me, Asuna?”
Asuna was frozen in place as those words echoed in her head.
Sam turned back to Reya.
“Will you swear not to kill Kazuki? If you do that, then I and Kimi promise to help you retrieve the compass.”
Reya felt giddy within but maintained a calm expression.
“I promise.”
Sam nodded.
“Then that’s good enough for us. Asuna, what about you.”
Asuna snapped back to reality but she couldn’t utter a single word. Reya looked at her a sense of killing intent was about to come up as this last little thorn was taking her sweet red-headed time. Reya had to do her best to suppress it, lest she ruins everything at this final step.
Kimi could see the confusion and hesitation and she hugged Asuna and begged her.
“Please Asuna, please help us. I don’t want to die.”
Right after she said that Kimi lowered her voice and whispered into Asuna’s ear so that only the two could hear.
“Asuna, hurry up and agree you stubborn goat. I’m getting tired of all of this acting.”
Asuna looked her in the eye and her eyes met Danny’s right after that.
Danny gave her a small wink. Once again Kimi begged loudly.
“Do you not care about us? Asuna, I thought we were friends, no sisters. Will you not save us?”
Kimi again whispered.
“Dammit, bitch do you still not get it. Ever since Danny started telling Reya that fake tale, do you not see he has something in mind. I’ve seen him do this once before back when Tsura had kidnapped us. Danny is planning something. Go along with this for now.”
Kimi collapsed to her knees and wailed for a minute or so. Asuna felt rather slow not realizing this was all an act but seeing Kimi’s face, with that awkward expression.
(Yep, Kimi is a terrible actor.)
Asuna slowly fell down to her knees as well and hugged Kimi tightly and whispered.
“Alright. If you believe in him, then I will too.”
Asuna then glared viciously at Reya and yelled.
“You really won’t kill Kazuki nor the rest of us?”
Reya didn’t like being addressed as you but that was small potatoes compared to the outcome.
“As long as you help me, I’ll let that brat keep his life. As for the rest of you, I have no reason to take your life.”
Asuna nodded.
“Not good enough. Swear upon your queen’s life, swear on her name that you will keep your promises. Only then will I believe your words.”
Reya felt her innards boil and she bit the side of her lip hard. It started to bleed but with a thought, the blood reversed and the wound sealed before anyone could notice.
“I swear upon my Queen’s name Fera, That I will fulfill my promises without fail.”
Asuna nodded.
“Ok, I’ll trust your words for now.”
Asuna was wondering what Danny had in mind while at the same time Reya was cursing them all inside.
(I promise you when this is all over I will rip you all apart.)
