Kazuki repeated the word in his head several times. He had read about Golems very few times when he was a child and thought them to be fairy tales of sorts. Golems were powerful creations, invented in ancient times by some unknown character. They were not living things but required a small piece of their owner’s soul to operate and understand commands.
They were incredibly strong but were slow-moving. Their destructive capabilities were nothing to laugh at. Until this moment, Kazuki truly thought such a magical thing was made up but here he was now, seeing one being ordered about to bring snacks.
“Golems…They really exist?”
Tilly took a swig of her drink and poured Kazuki another shot.
“I had that same stupid look when I first came here but yeah their real. Funny though, Glacious uses these things as mere servants instead of for their intended purpose. As a matter of fact, these Golems are one of the main reasons I’ve hung around this place. As you know one of my favorite hobbies is making magical devices and tools. Seeing real Golems, trying to figure out how they operate, besides drinking, ti’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time.”
*Bang!*
The door to the dining room swung open out of nowhere, causing Nunully to jump in surprise.
Asuna rushed in and ran at Kazuki. Kazuki could see where this was going and just as Asuna dived at him, he calmly moved to the side dodging her. Kazuki had been tackled repeatedly and he was more than annoyed at this point from having the wind knocked from his lungs.
Asuna didn’t expect this and was about to crash into Tilly who sat on the other side of the table. Tilly didn’t care in the slightest and remained calm and when Asuna was only a few inches from her, an inscription lit up on Tilly’s clothes, and a barrier of wind rotated around her, protecting her completely.
Asuna was then flung backward like a rubber ball before Glacious held up a hand and gripped at the air.
An invisible power caught Asuna and set her down gently.
Asuna realized what had just happened. She first bowed to Glacious and then glared hatefully at Kazuki.
“Why did you dodge me?”
Kazuki tilted his head.
“Why should I sit still when someone wants to run me down like a truck?”
Kazuki’s countered caused a tint of red to crawl up Asuna’s cheeks.
Tilly chuckled.
“Hahaha, Kazuki, it seems your still a bit of a lady’s man huh. To literally have women throwing themselves at you, If I were younger, hehehe.”
Asuna went a shade redder.
“Who…who likes him? I simply wanted to make sure he was alright.”
Tilly squinted playfully at Asuna.
“Little girl, when did I ever say you liked him, hehe.”
Asuna wore a stunned expression and became speechless.
Kazuki just shook his head. Tilly sounded like an old man rather than an old woman and she drank like one too.
“Thanks for your concern Asuna. Thanks to Etora and Glacious, I’m safe and sound.”
Following Asuna in was Sam and the others.
Sam walked over and slapped Kazuki hard on the back, which almost sent him flying. Sam glared at him.
“Don’t run ahead by yourself next time.”
His glare then turned into a genuine smile.
“Were friends remember.”
Kazuki smiled back and went to pass a cup to Sam when a gush of wind swept in from behind the two. The cup that was just in Kazuki’s hand disappeared and Shin appeared in front of the two.
“Thanks for the drink. Chasing your ass down through the mountain left me a bit parched.”
Shin held Kazuki’s cup in his hand and downed it on one go playfully. He then passed it to Kazuki.
“What’s wrong, not happy to see this handsome face. Oh, I get it, you’d like to offer me another cup. Well if you insist.”
Kazuki snatched the cup from Shin with a smile and poured it fully before passing it back.
“So you say you chased me down huh? Funny I didn’t see anyone around at all.”
Shin drank another glass.
“Do you know how hard it is trying to find a single person in the middle of all that shit? It’s like trying to find a fart in a cloud of gas, nigh impossible.”
“Wait are you saying I’m a fart?”
Shin chuckled.
“Yep but you’re our fart, hahaha.”
Kazuki didn’t know whether that was an insult or a compliment but he decided to just take it as a friendly saying and let it go.
Tsura came over next.
“Kazuki, the gods must be watching over you. For all of us to be saved in such a situation, thank the heavens.”
Kimi was the last to enter but she said nothing and sat quietly off to the side. She passed Asuna to sit down and Kazuki noticed that Kimi completely avoided eye contact with her. Kazuki whispered to Sam, pointing it out.
“What’s going on with those two?”
“Kimi tried to kill Asuna.”
Sam briefly went over what happened.
“So basically everyone wanted to come after me but Kimi was trying to stop them and things went badly.”
Sam nodded.
“Yes. I’ve already talked with Kimi when we got here but she hasn’t said anything to Asuna. I don’t know what’s what anymore. Asuna is my friend since childhood and is just like a sister. I could never allow her to come to harm yet the person I thought I loved tried to kill her. I can’t be with someone like that. I think…were done.”
Kazuki got the gist of it and he felt disgusted thinking about Kimi. He knew she was selfish but to think she would even try and kill her supposed friend.
Kazuki wondered if he should confront her but Sam waved him away.
“Forget it. Everyone is safe and it’s over. Today shouldn’t be about such ugly things or ugly people. Let’s celebrate instead.”
Asuna walked over and shyly asked.
“Kazuki…um, would you like a drink?”
Kazuki didn’t mind and accepted a cup from Asuna but as soon as he did that, Nunully stood up and walked over as well.
“Kazuki, have one from me as well.”
The two shoved a drink each in front of Kazuki but Kazuki could see exactly where this was going and changed his mind, accepting a drink from neither of them.
Asuna and Nunully exchanged a look between one another that said it all but apparently that wasn’t enough because Asuna piped up.
“Why do you have to come over as soon as I offer him a drink?”
Nunully took a step forward until she was directly in front of Asuna.
“You know why but if you want me to spell it out for you I will. Kazuki is mine and you know that. Everyone here knows that by now.”
Asuna took a step forward until her boobs were pressed up against Nunuly’s.
“Why bring that up. I never said I wanted him, I just offered him a drink what’s the big deal. Besides, you keep saying he’s mine this and he’s mine that but I haven’t heard him once say that he’s yours. I haven’t even heard him say the two of you were an item or were even dating. Seems more like you’re just forcing things on him and don’t even know what he truly thinks.”
Nunully inched closer and squished her chest against Asuna’s, anger on her face.
“He doesn’t need to say anything. He already agreed to date me once we got here. Your weird jealousy needs to stop and you need to back up.”
Asuna looked at Kazuki to see if he would deny it but he didn’t. Instead, he separated the two.
“Enough. Both of you are acting like children. Nunully I’ll say it right now, I do like you.”
Nunully smiled confidently and Asuna felt a sting in her chest hearing this.
“Although I like you and I’ve even agreed to try dating you, I told you that my training comes first and besides there’s still issues to work out between your mother and you. Not only that but this attitude of yours that presumes to claim me and have ownership over me is also getting rather annoying. I am my own person with my own thoughts and opinions. And right now my opinion of both of you has just lowered. Asuna, I don’t get what’s going on in your mind right now but it’s clear you are infatuated with me. I can’t respond to your feelings, I’m sorry. I don’t hate you and I find you incredibly beautiful and lovely but I’ve already made a promise to Nunully. I hope you understand.”
Asuna’s face went beet red and tears welled up at the edge of her eyes. Asuna swung at Kazuki. Kazuki was going to avoid it but he already crushed her just now. At least she could have the smallest amount of satisfaction and relieve some heartache by landing a slap on him.
*Pak*
Asuna landed a loud slap across Kazuki’s face before running out of the dining room in tears.
Nunully felt a bit ashamed at her words and actions but at the same time, she felt victory. Kazuki just declared in front of everyone he would date her and even let Asuna down. Maybe he wasn’t Nunully’s now but who knows what lies ahead in the future. All she needed was time.
The atmosphere was a bit weird for a few moments before Sam left and went after Asuna. Kimi wanted to say something, chase him down, follow him but when their eyes met, he glared at her and she froze in her seat, lowering her head in sadness.
Tilly slammed a cup down on the table hard and shouted.
“Forget the woes of young love, let’s get piss ass drunk!”
