“Wait, before you teach me how to properly use it, your son had mentioned something to me. You know about the Titan called Zetrazz, right?”
(“Why are ya bringing up my bastard son and that monster? Do ya think this upcoming battle is a joke and ya have time to waste with a million questions?”)
Kazuki shook his head.
“It’s not like that. I know the danger of the situation I’m currently in but this question I have relates to aura and concerns my magic and survival. I may be looking further ahead with this question but it’s that important to me. If I can understand it, it may just help me later on down the line. Please!”
Oren shrugged.
(“If it’s about aura I guess it can’t be helped. Hurry up and tell me what ya question is.”)
“Before Groud threw me in this prison, we were discussing aura. I had mentioned how I first created my own aura and told him how I was in a desperate situation being suppressed by a heavy dark aura near the opening of a large cave.”
Oren’s eyes lit up.
(“Ya felt Zetrazz breath! Boy, what a privilege. To come into contact with his aura, I would die happy for such an honor.”)
“At the time it didn’t feel like an honor. I nearly died more than once because of it. That was definitely not a happy occasion.”
Oren realized he may have been overly eager and that Kazuki suffered some trauma from it. He reeled himself in and asked Kazuki to continue.
“Back to my question. Groud said that this Titan breath was actually aura and it is everywhere in this underground world, even in my body. I do not feel this constant aura rather I feel a dense pure dark energy all around me. It interferes with my magic and makes me heavy. How can all of this dark energy be aura and is there no way to remove it from my body?”
Oren stuck a toe in his nose and picked at a booger before flicking it.
(“How can ya learn something from my son who knows nothing about aura?”)
“But he said this is what was written in the records.”
(“The records are old and degraded. The information in them was written down by others who don’t fully understand the ways of aura. Let me say it right now. What ya felt coming from the cave was indeed the Zetrazz’s aura. However, all of the dark energy outside of the cave and beyond is not an aura but Zetrazz’s magic instead. I don’t know if my dumb son has told ya or not but Zetrazz’s aura, his breath is a technique. He has combined his breathing with aura. From what I know he can promote the growth of things that require dark energy to thrive. His aura breath affects dark energy. As ya have felt it yourself, it makes dark energy purer and denser to an insane degree. His breath comes and goes from the cave and with each exhale he releases more of his own dark energy into this underground world. After making his home down here for who knows how long, his dark energy has saturated the entire underground environment. With each breath or bite of food or drink of water, all the living beings down here take in his dark energy. It clings to every part of ya, and its heavyweight holds ya down. It is so pure that it overwhelms every other element and degrades them for the most part. Zetrazz’s breath is truly impressive.”)
“So all of the dark energy around us isn’t aura but some after effect or byproduct of it.”
Oren nodded.
(“Ya could say that. As for removing it from ya body, that can technically be done but not from here.”)
Oren pointed at the jug of water by Kazuki.
(“Have ya not wondered why ya water taste fine and not polluted. Look closely inside of it if ya can.”)
Kazuki curiously peered into it and saw a tiny stone pebble resting at the bottom. At first, it appeared to be a normal pebble but looking closely, it seemed familiar. Its smooth surface gave it away. It wasn’t a stone pebble at all.
“Orichalcum.”
Oren nodded.
(“Yep, that wasn’t a rock at the bottom of the jug but a piece of metal. Ya see orichalcum is a mysterious metal. One of its effects is the ability to absorb nearly every energy. That tiny coin-sized amount at the bottom of ya jug is enough to absorb all the energy in the container. That includes Zetrazz’s dark energy. Because of that, your water is clean of all elements good and otherwise. The entire city outside of here is like that as well. Every building is made from orichalcum and we even have millions of tiny pieces spread throughout our crops and fields. This draws the dark energy away from our food and protects our livestock as well.”)
“What about magic? I’ve seen a few apes use both Gordonia as well as wind magic.”
(“The weapons ya see all are inscribed. They allow every Adrola ape in this city to use magic, whether they’re skilled or not. Even a weak child, as long as they use an orichalcum made weapon and their Magical beast core is decent, they can use a small bit of magic. All of this alone though isn’t enough to protect our lives. I don’t know how you survived down here with all of that dense dark energy surrounding you but we Afrola apes require two baptisms. One for the mother during her pregnancy and one for the child as soon as it’s born. Using orichalcum directly in the body we protect ourselves. Only in this way can we who have beast cores survive without dying from exposure to this dense magic energy.”)
Kazuki perfectly understood what Oren meant. Being exposed to this pure dark energy was dangerous for any who had a Mage core or beast core. Both used magical energy and coming into contact with Zetrazz’s dark energy should be more than enough to cause their cores to go out of control and explode thereby killing them instantly. Oren and the other apes circumvent this by having these special baptisms. Kazuki on the other hand only survived due to the godly aura. When he fist crashed down here the godly aura directly entered his Mage core for some reason. He didn’t understand it at the time but now hearing Oren’s explanation it was this strange activity by the godly aura that saved him.
The problem in Kazuki’s case though was that he could live being exposed to the Titan’s energy but he could not use magic, while the Adrola apes on the other hand could. This had caused far too many problems to count but also brought other mysteries to Kazuki.
(So this means that the goat-headed monster has no beast core and neither does the Clackers but what about those porcupines. Their eyes could glow because of the weird silver powder they ate from the river rocks. Even I was able to see in the dark by consuming that silver powder. Does that mean that silver powder wasn’t actually magic-induced but instead something biochemical? This is all so weird.)
“Is there any way you could baptize me as you called it. If I had access to magic, the entire battle with Groud would flip on its head. I could take him out with relative ease.”
Oren raised a brow.
(“Really, did ya really just ask me if I could baptize ya?”)
Oren looked both left and right as though he was about to cross a busy street before looking at Kazuki as if he were an idiot.
(“Tell me Kazuki, how do ya suppose I perform this ritual with no supplies no inscription master no nothing? Should I shake my kingly ass rhythmically and prepare for the rain to fall as well? Hehehaha.”)
Kazuki rolled his eyes.
“Ok ok, I got it. I was too excited to learn about the possibility of getting my magic back. I wasn’t thinking properly and it just blurted it out so can you stop laughing so damn much?”
Oren continued laughing while asking.
(“Even if I could perform this type of thing and had everything on hand and we weren’t locked up. Who’s to say it would even work on ya weird-ass body. I don’t understand your anatomy at all as this is the first time I’ve even come to see whatever ya are. I don’t think it best to start putting foreign things inside ya body or maybe you’re into that kind of thing. Bwahahahaha.”)
Oren continued to laugh and Kazuki couldn’t seem to get him to stop no matter what he said. Finally, Kazuki lost patience. Controlling the inside of his body his soldier began to rise up until it was angled just right. Using his perfect control over his body along with his ki, he put a bit of pressure on his own bladder and started peeing. Due to the perfect control of his body as well as the angle of his mast and pressure on his bladder, Kazuki’s pee flew through the air and covered the distance between the two.
*Sploosh*
A fine golden liquid sprayed Oren directly in the face and his wild laughter seized in an instant.
