Kazuki slowly closed his eyes as he thought about what Oren said.
(Imitate the nature of wind. Easier said than done.)
Kazuki entered his soul world. He saw Danny and Kai were off to the side sparring as per usual and decided not to bother them. Instead, the clouds above began to swirl and his memories played out above him like a movie on fast forward.
After going over his memories a few times, Kazuki was stumped.
“To copy the nature of wind, Oren mentioned copying wind magic but I can’t use the element of wind.”
“True enough little dummy, but I can use wind.”
Kai and Danny had stopped sparring and Kai interrupted Kazuki.
Kazuki raised a brow.
“What does you having the ability to use wind got to do with me? How is that supposed to help exactly?”
Kai smirked and puffed up his chest before proudly pointing at Danny.
“Do you not see what stands directly before your own eyes. You know of Danny’s skills. He can use several of my techniques yet he controls no magic whatsoever. Instead, he uses energy from his soul to execute my famous techniques. Danny, show him.”
Danny understood and distanced himself away from the two. The branch in his hand rested gently at his hip. Lowering his center of gravity he took a drawing stance.
Danny inhaled deeply before releasing a slow breath while calling out.
“1st Form! Blade of wind…Howl for me!”
In an instant, the branch along with Danny’s entire arm seem to vanish as he drew with lightning-like speed. At the same time, a howling-like whistle sound followed as the branch cut through the air. As the branch sliced forward, it accelerated even more and the branch seemed to divide into two and then split again becoming three distinct branches before finally vanishing back into one, signaling Danny’s swing was complete.
After his initial swing was complete Danny moved with a fluid-like motion and was already in another stance. He once more called out.
“2nd Form! Shapeless Cloud!”
Danny pulled the branch once more from his hip and the branch divided again, this time into dozens. The branches came raining down thrusting downward from every angle like a hail of guided missiles.
Before these branches struck the imaginary opponent in front of him, Danny had drawn a final time.
“3rd Form! Severing Tempest!”
Danny used the branch in his hand to slash toward the raining strikes he had just performed. A single form of energy struck his earlier attack nut wavered slightly before falling apart and dissipating. His last attack had failed but Danny wasn’t too upset by this.
Danny finished and casually walked over.
“Besides the third form, wow was that?”
Kai gave a thumbs down and Danny’s pride was about to take a blow but Kai quickly flipped it up teasingly.
“Haha, I’m kidding. You’ve been in here with me so long if you weren’t any good I’d have to stop talking to you.Your third form was just a bit off but the improvements you’ve made are incredible. I just wish we both had actual bodies so I could have a real spar with you. One with stakes, one that requires actual physicality and is determined by reflexes, knowledge, stamina, and so on. How interesting would it be to see who the better swordsman is. The student or the teacher. If I could get chills then I certainly would just by thinking about it.”
Danny no longer felt wronged. Instead, he took it as a compliment that Kai was even questioning who would win. Still, he knew he’d lose if Kai used the third form and went all out.
“Little dummy, do you get it now?”
Kazuki wondered if the screws in his brother’s head were loose or not.
“If your asking me to stay in here and learn the way of the sword from you so I can better understand wind and thereby learn how to copy the ways of wind with my aura in some roundabout way, you’ve lost your mind brother. The time it would take, even if time moves much slower in here I still would not be able to master such techniques from you within that period.”
Kai rolled his eyes.
“Whoever said you need to directly learn anything from me, little dummy? Did you not hear what that ape said, were you not paying attention? You can use the experience from your soul?”
Kazuki didn’t get what his brother was saying and looked to Danny to make some sense of it all. Danny as well though was rubbing his chin in thought trying to understand what Kai meant. Kai just looked at the two and watched them, waiting to see who would understand his meaning first.
Danny had been thinking for nearly 30 seconds when it was like a light went off above his head.
“Oh!”
Just as Danny was about to say something, kai tackled him and put a hand over his mouth.
“Wait don’t say it out loud just yet! I want to see if little dummy here can actually get it or not. Just whisper it in my ear and I’ll tell you if you got it or not.”
Danny delivered an elbow into Kai’s side. Since Kai was only about the size of a small child now, Danny’s elbow sent him flying.
“All you had to do is say that earlier! What need was there for you to tackle me like a little goblin!?”
Kai gently descended to the ground and couldn’t help but rub the back of his head and play dumb.
“My bad my bad. I know you dislike being touched but do you gotta send me soaring through the air like that?”
Danny glared at Kai and Kai quickly diverted his gaze back to Kazuki who was still wondering what Kai initially meant.
Ignoring Danny’s snake eyes, Kai chuckled at Kazuki.
“Hehe. Little brother, do you really not understand it yet? Shall I give you a clue?”
Kazuki sighed.
“Please.”
Kai began to grin from ear to ear.
“Since my helpless little brother still doesn’t understand and has asked me nicely I’ll give you a hint. Oren mentioned you can use the experiences from one’s soul to mimic nature with one’s aura. I wonder if there’s not something special about your own soul Kazuki or at least what’s inside your soul world. That is the clue. Now let’s see what you can come up with.”
Kazuki looked at his older brother’s playful grin and wondered just how he could joke around and play at a time like this. In the end, though, Kazuki couldn’t get mad, he knew how his older brother was. He knew his older brother actually cared for him and knows about the time crunch so if the solution wasn’t a swift one, Kai wouldn’t be playing right now and instead would have a fire under his ass.
Kazuki ignored his brother’s foolish grin. Seeing Danny’s now relaxed expression, Kazuki became confident in the two and started to really think about the clue Kai had given him.
(Something to do with what’s inside my soul world. Whatever it is will be of help to me.)
Kazuki took inventory of his soul world within a few seconds, there really wasn’t very much.
His Mage core with a few elements inside it. His soul tree, the devouring black hole at its base. Danny and Kai were there as well, besides that not much else.
(It can’t be the devouring technique nor my Mage core, that really only leaves Danny and Kai but to learn from Kai will take far too long, what else can there be. A soul is a conglomeration of memories, experiences, emotions, and so much more.)
As Kazuki contemplated these things, he casually looked up at a cloud floating by.
(Damn, this would be so much easier if I could simply look at someone’s memories who’s actually used wind…)
It was at this point when it hit him.
“Memories! I can use the memories from Abura!”
Kai and Danny both slapped their foreheads as Kazuki shouted in excitement.
Kai teleported behind Kazuki and promptly punched him in the back of the head.
“No, you dumbass. If all you needed was memories then, of course, Abura since he was a 3rd stage wind mage but you need the feeling as well. You can have all the memories you won’t but if there’s no experience added, you’d simply walk around like a dull robot.”
Kai pointed at Danny which left Kazuki confused for a moment before he finally realized it.
“I…I can use Danny’s memories as well as his experiences.”
Danny nodded.
“Though you said it like a question, that is correct. Kai was the one who helped fuse me directly to your soul tree. Technically speaking my soul is a part of you. Therefore it should be entirely possible for you to not only use my memories but my experiences as well. My soul is a part of yours so my experience and everything with it can be yours to learn all of it. I’ve got to admit this is very interesting. This is basically like a cheat skill.”
Kai nodded.
“Yep, the ultimate cheat skill. It will be like your stealing all of his techniques or rather cloning them directly onto your own soul. Soon they’ll be calling you the copy-paste god, hahaha.”
