Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 35
The ice broke apart as if a hammer had been smashed through a glass window.
*RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!*
A roar rippled out from down below Pushing Kazuki backward.
(ZETRAZZ WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!)
Kazuki called out to the energy in his compass but the only response he got back was a burst of mischievous laughter in his head.
(This bastard titan!)
The roar had just barely settled when Kazuki felt a rush of energy from down below.
*Pssssssh Pssssssh Pssssssh Pssssssh Pssssssh Pssssssh Pssssssh*
In every direction, hundreds of geyser-like pulses of water shot up from under the ice, sending hill size chunks of solid ice soaring to the heavens above.
These geyser shots of water spun up and became hurricanes made from not wind but instead, entirely of rushing water.
Kazuki had no time to worry about these because the very next moment, it had arrived.
*KShhhh*
The ice finally could take no more and split entirely. The surface of the ice rose up and flew away as a large bluish-green head, the size of a hill emerged from the depths.
Kazuki took a step back as the creature continued upward. Its mountain-sized body stretching out from beneath the ice and taking to the skies.
Its head was shaped similar to that of a lion’s. Instead of a mane, it had 8 horns encircling its large neck. A fin-like tail at the end with an odd lizard-like body. It even had short lizard-like legs that were nearly under its stomach. This creature was a weird sight to see but also a frightful one. With its body alone it towered toward the heavens and blocked out a considerable amount of the sky, leaving a large shadow covering the world below it. It was similar in size to Glacious’s true dragon form.
This large beast floated high in the sky. The roar in the air finally echoing out no more and fading away, this large creature scanned its surroundings for the culprit. As soon as it saw Kazuki it could feel his energy and the energy around his neck as well. It found the source of the problem instantly.
Kazuki was in awe for a moment.
(This is the Motozu. So big.)
This one moment of being lost in his thoughts would cost him.
Kazuki felt a large amount of energy gathering towards the creature. lightning and water gathered at the tip of two of the creature’s horns and in an instant, the large beast fired them together.
A pillar of water shot forth with bolts of lightning wrapped around it. Kazuki’s eyes went round as the speed was unexpected.
(NOOOO!)
Kazuki dove out of the way. His speed was demonic like and he left after images in his wake but it wasn’t enough. The beam of power hit his right arm and disintegrated it instantly. The force as well sent him flying backward for several miles. It flew past him and hit the ice several miles away. As soon as the beam of energy hit the ice it drilled into its depths and with it, a wave of water rose up hundreds of feet high and stretched several miles across, and went racing off into the distance.
Kazuki continued flying backward until he slammed into a large glacier, nearly shattering it with his body.
Fresh blood poured like a faucet from his shoulder but in barely a second the wound was already sealed.
The beast’s eyes focused on Kazuki and it was slightly surprised that Kazuki had managed to live through that but besides that, it didn’t really care that he had lived, only that it would take another second to finish the job.
Kazuki as well understood the strength of this monster right away.
(This thing isn’t a sky beast,! It’s an Ancient beast. Damn you, Sid, you were wrong.)
Kazuki knew very little about Ancient beast. All the information he had on Ancient beast was from Glacious’s memories and even Glacious had very little knowledge of them. They were the next grade higher than Sky beast. Sky beast had strength comparable to a Mage between the 3rd stage, all the way up to the 5th stage. Kazuki could deal with that level of strength but Ancient beast was supposedly even stronger. The only thing Kazuki didn’t know was the limit to that strength. However, after experiencing this opening attack, he began to get an idea real quick.
(This bastard is strong, incredibly so. For it to completely destroy a limb of mine in an instant proves this but that doesn’t mean this is impossible. Its attack was fast but I could still follow it with my eyes. Even though it destroyed my arm, it just barely got it. I didn’t have a chance to use my ki. If I had my speed would have gone up several times. This isn’t over just yet.)
Kazuki felt his blood start to boil and he got excited to fight. Just a quickly as that thought appeared, Kazuki shook it away.
(What am I thinking. There might still be a chance to talk. It did attack me but that could be considered my fault or rather Zetrazz. It has taken an arm from me, its anger should have settled somewhat. I need to at least try before I go full tilt.)
Kazuki took to the skies and flew over.
As Kazuki came a few miles near the creature, he could once more feel energy swelling up from the monster. Kazuki quickly flew to the ground and knelt down to show respect. He filled his lungs with ki and shouted.
“PLEASE WAIT! I DIDN’T COME HERE TO FIGHT, NOR INTRUDE. I’M SORRY IF I HAVE DISTURBED YOU A MOMENT AGO BUT I WISH TO SPEAK WITH YOU, NOT FIGHT!”
The energy in the air paused for a moment. The Motozu stared ominously at Kazuki, it could still sense something dangerous around his neck.
The Creature opened its mouth and roared.
“DIE!”
Lightning and water wrapped around each other and were shot forth like a beam of death.
Kazuki was taken aback but he was a little more ready this time. Ki was already coursing through his body like a magic elixir. He was filled with strength.
He jumped out of the way, dodging the entire beam this time.
Once more he filled his lungs with ki before shouting with impatience.
“I IMPLORE YOU NOT TO DO THIS! YOU ARE STRONG BUT I AM NO WEAKLING! LET US DISCUSS WITHOUT VIOLENCE!”
The monster was not having it. This time lightning gathered at three of this monster’s horns. The beam of energy widened and thickened drastically and was now at least 200 feet in diameter. It was bigger but it had lost none of its speed as it came crashing down toward Kazuki.
Kazuki again moved out of the way.
(It may be bigger than two hundred feet but I can cover 10 miles in a leap. As long as I can tell where this beast is going to fire it, I can preemptively move out of the way.)
Missing again, the monster started to get angry and felt some humiliation. This small creature before it wished to speak with it on equal terms. It, a great Ancient beast, speak on equal footing with a mere human.
The beast used four horns and gathered even more energy. The size of the beam increased to 500 feet in diameter. It started firing beams of lightning and pillars of water indiscriminately. It was in no mood to listen and was going to kill Kazuki.
Kazuki in return grew pissed.
(This dumb fuck! Why won’t you listen to me!?)
With most of the ice destroyed, Kazuki was forced to hop from floating pieces of ice to other floating pieces of ice making dodging more difficult. At the rate things were going, the ice would disappear, leaving Kazuki with no footing. He decided to try one more time.
“MOTOZU! LISTEN TO MY WORDS HERE AND NOW! I DO NOT WANT TO FIGTH WITH YOU! I HAVE STATED MULTIPLE TIMES THAT I’VE COME TO TALK BUT YOU CONTINUOUSLY ATTACK ME! I HAVE ALREADY APOLOGIZED FOR DISTURBING YOU EARLIER BUT NO MORE! IF YOU ATTACK ME AGAIN I WILL BE FORCED TO FIGHT BACK! PLEASE MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION!”
Motozu went silent and the power in the air paused.
A moment later, a powerful booming voice roared out.
“YOU A MERE HUMAN WISH TO SPEAK AS IF WERE EQUALS. LAUGHABLE. YOU MAY BE FAST BUT YOUR CONFIDENCE OR RATHER YOUR INSANITY THAT LED YOU TO BELIEVE YOU CAN CONTEND WITH I…JUST DIE ALREADY!”
This time energy gathered at 5 horns. As the energy came together, the beam grew to a thousand feet in diameter.
There was so much electricity in the air that the hair on Kazuki’s arms began to stand. At the same time, the anger he was suppressing earlier from having his arm blown off, along with the excitement of battle, Kazuki didn’t wait to be attacked.
Kicking off the ice beneath him, it shattered as he pushed himself forward like a bolt of lightning. He raced forward and jumped high into the sky.
(I tried to talk but this dumb fuck just won’t listen. Fine, I’ll beat it into him!)
Kazuki was now above the monster. The monster in turn aimed upward with its beam. The moment it fired the beam into the sky, Kazuki activated his ring.
