Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 37
Blinking…Second nature to all living creatures with eyes. Doing so happens automatically, without thought or design. It comes naturally and requires so little energy that one would not know they have used any effort at all to do so.
The Motozu was a powerful creature and equally as fast. Those that have managed to witness its speed and live to tell the tale could only describe its movement akin to a god of speed, a flash of light, a blur in the peripheral vision, and nothing more. It boasted about such ability. With such movement, it could cover an entire continent in less than an hour. Yet here it was, with such great speed, when it needed such swiftness, it failed in front of this tiny human.
Kazuki had flashed the ancient hand signs and filled the orichalcum arm full with the element of light and called out.
“Beam of Light!”
In a fraction of a second, tens of thousands of inscriptions lit up and a concentration of light gathered at the palm of this metal arm. Within that time frame, beams of light focused to a fine point creating a laser that shot forward as fast as….well, light.
This mighty Ancient beast, with all of its power and speed, could not blink in time and shield its eye from danger. At point-blank range, a concentrated obelisk of light hotter than a star could burn raced into the Motozu’s large open eye.
*Tssshhhhh*
The light was so incredibly hot and fast that it warped the air creating heatwaves as it tore into the creature’s large eye. The very moment it hit the eye, it both melted the entire orb of flesh but also boiled it, creating an instant steaming effect.
*RAAAAAAAAAAAAA!*
A roar rippled outward and the great creature whipped its head violently to the side, throwing Kazuki clean off.
Kazuki tumbled for but a moment before he flew into the sky.
Dark blue blood poured from the creature’s eye like a cracked fountain.
“YOU BASTARDDDDDDDDD!”
dozens of hurricanes made entirely of rushing water spiraled up and flew towards Kazuki. At the same time, bolts of lightning cracked and came raining down like a hail of death.
Kazuki raised both his hands and used a combination of water magic and fire magic. He froze the hurricanes with his water magic and also pulled heat away from them making them freeze even faster. The raging water stopped in place, becoming towers of ice. Once more he made a long sword several hundred feet long. Slashing it 360 degrees around him, he cut the base of the frozen pillars, and with a flash of his ring, he stored them inside in an instant.
He dealt with the hurricanes of water as if they were nothing but the Motozu didn’t stop there. It simply raised more and more, an unending stream of them flew out toward Kazuki. At the same time, the creature unleashed the power of lightning from up above. Instead of a few bolts coming from its eight horns, the Motozu made thousands upon thousands of lightning bolts come flying downward.
Kazuki could deal with the water all day but when it came to lightning there was very little he could do little about it. He was incredibly fast but lightning from a creature and one coming from the sky moved differently. The one from the sky was much much faster. Thankfully Kazuki was wearing the suit of god metal. Bolts of lightning struck him several times. His body was fully protected from being fried and electrocuted but the shockwaves smashed his internal organs around like loose marbles in a jar. Kazuki did his best to heal but this nonstop hail of electricity slowed him greatly.
Not only that but wearing a full suit of metal could only attract such lightning.
An idea came to Kazuki at this moment.
(This creature can create all the lightning it wants in the sky and may be able to direct it to some degree but it doesn’t have control over all of this lightning. If it did, it would have no need to create it up above when it already can shoot it directly from its horns. If it can’t control it fully, this is a good thing for me. I can use this.)
Kazuki opened his ring and pulled out a large amount of god metal. In an instant, he divided the large chunk into nearly a hundred pieces before shaping them all into extremely long rods. Using his aura, he held them up above himself, spread out to the range of his aura. He could stretch his aura 1000 feet in all directions and so that was how far out they were.
The lightning that had been continuously striking him, the moment he held up these rods high above, the entire game got switched up.
*Crack Ka-Boom!*
The lightning, just as he divided the rods, the lightning as well separated from a concentrated attack and dispersed among the rods.
The Motozu could see that its lightning was no longer effective and raged.
“It’s those rods and that suit. If my lightning doesn’t reach you, then I’ll simply have to tear that armor off your body and reveal that weak human flesh underneath.”
It knew its magic would work on Kazuki. It had destroyed one of his arms entirely just moments ago. It knew it just needed to remove Kazuki’s armor or at least damage it enough to reveal some weaknesses.
With an eye still bleeding, the monster watched Kazuki carefully before moving.
The instant it moved, the air was torn as its large body moved like the lightning. It had appeared behind Kazuki in an instant. Kazuki knew it would be fast but his eyes had nearly failed him, following its movement. It raised up a hill-sized foot before smashing it down atop Kazuki. Kazuki could only raise his arms up in a large X in front of him to defend himself.
*Bang!*
Kazuki felt his internal organs again crash around the inside of his body from the shockwave. The orichalcum was seemingly indestructible but that didn’t mean shockwaves couldn’t pass through it. Again there was damage to his insides and he was forced to circulate his ki as fast as possible. Along with his healing factor, his body quickly regenerated.
Kazuki flipped in mid-air and instead of smashing into the water, he dove in.
(This fuckers speed, it’s too great! I’ll come from beneath him and
Before Kazuki could finish his thought, the beast called out.
“Think you can hide, come out from there!”
The water surrounding Kazuki solidified into thick dense ice before it quickly rose to the surface. Kazuki tried to turn the ice back into the water but the ancient beast was a rank higher than he and had more control over the surrounding waters and kept the ice solid.
Kazuki was forced to smash the ice to bits with his metal arm. The moment he was free from the ice, the creature was already slamming another hill-sized foot upon him.
*BAM!*
Kazuki was smashed again, this time into the ice. The ice the creature made was incredibly tough and only broke and sunk inward by a few feet.
Now Kazuki was taking more shockwaves into his body since he was stuck between the Motozu and the ice.
Kazuki tried to get away but he was now suffering from more injuries and the creature was stronger than him. At the same time, Kazuki could feel the dark energy pulsing within his compass, excited because of the fight.
(Damn this wicked bastard! Zetrazz if I make it out of this alive, I swear to the gods above and the demons below you will suffer!)
*Bang Bam Bang!*
Kazuki was stomped on repeatedly and he could feel his limbs starting to break. The armor remained fine on the outside but his body was not holding up and at the rate, things were going, death was assured.
Gritting his teeth, Kazuki healed the fingers in his left hand as quickly as possible. Between the monster raising up, its foot, and bringing it back down to crush Kazuki, Kazuki had made several ancient hand signs.
Light gathered and entered the metal arm. Just as the light was about to shoot outward, the creature saw it coming this time and placed a foot over Kazuki’s entire body. The light came rushing out with a blindingly bright shine and heat hotter than the sun.
However the moment the light hit the Motozu’s scale-covered foot, the inevitable happened. The special effect of the scales, and their reflective properties held true, and all of the heat and light was reflected back down onto Kazuki. This would have been fine if Kazuki’s entire body was covered in armor but his eyes have nothing covering them. Just like the Motozu moments ago, it was Kazuki this time who took a direct beam of laser-focused light directly into not one but both eyes at once.
*Tzzzshhht*
*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*
