Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 43
With a fist capable of shattering the mountains on high, the rhino ape threw a punch forward with the intention of destroying the protective dome in a single blow. The fist flew out as quick as the wind could blow and struck the dome with a resounding bang.
*Bang!*
*Crack!*
…
The dome of metal remained perfectly intact and in fact, neither budged nor held so much as a dent nor a scratch. Instead, the rhino ape held it’s over large fist in agony.
Every bone in its left hand had broken against the metal dome. A few bones even pierced through his flesh and poked out of his hand in an unsightly manner.
Dark blood spilled from its hand and it along with the other Ancient beast looked on in shock.
The great snake inspected his brother’s hand with a stunned expression.
“Brother…Your hand. I’ve sssseen you sssstrike the Motossssu’s ssscalessss and not damage your fissssst. Jusssst what happened?”
The large rhino ape said nothing as it too was dumbfounded. It hand healed within a few seconds and bled no more but the large rhino ape still looked at its hand as if it couldn’t understand what had just happened.
The hill-sized scorpion crawled over and struck the side of the dome with the end of its tail. It felt just how tough the metal was. A searing sound rang out as a foul-smelling green liquid dripped from the end of the beast stinger. Splashing some of its acid against the wall, it along with the other beast again were dumbfounded as no erosion took place.
They all looked differently at the dome in front of them. A few even began to slowly back away. One of them spoke with clear fear.
“This thing is too hard for acid and too tough for even your fist to break through it. If we can’t break in in time, then Motozu will regenerate. Once it recovers its vitality, it will come after any who tried to attack it today. We must leave here at once.”
A shouting match broke out after this and there were a few who no longer wanted to participate. To fight a weakened Motozu with their superior number was one thing but right now they couldn’t even touch Motozu. This became a danger and it was plain to see. If they could not break through this defensive dome and Motozu recovered…doom only waited for the foolish who waited around.
Just when a few had lost their nerve and were about to disappear to the four winds, the large rhino ape spoke out.
“Are you really willing to give up this chance? Motozu is one of the oldest among us and has held one of the biggest territories for most of its life. All the resources and great treasures it accumulated are greater than all of our wealth combined. Because of this hoarding, many of us have been stuck for a few thousand years at the same stage. If you really wish to run away when we are at the paramount of victory then so be it but at the same time don’t ever show your weak coward face in front of me nor my little brother ever again. You don’t have the pride of an ancient beast and do not deserve such a title. If I see you again, I’ll e sure to end you so you do not embarrass the rest of us.”
Silence took over this icy domain. Everyone took the rhino ape’s words as absolute. Ancient beasts were not as strong as titans or dragons but they weren’t too far off and in the past, a few had even managed to best even them. Ancient beasts had their own pride, reputation, and hierarchy among themselves. Those with power held sway and those without were unimportant and didn’t matter. By saying what he did, the rhino ape insured that any that left today would be considered weak and cowardly in the eyes of the rest of the ancient beasts.
Even if they weren’t weak like he said, just the insinuation would invite challenges. Upcoming ancient beast or current would be watching far more closely to those that left and they would naturally be the first ones on the list to attack when they6 showed even an ounce of weakness. To leave here and now was like saying to the rest of the Ancient beasts, come attack me and take all of my shit.
No one made a move to leave after the Rhino ape spoke out. In fact, postering came about and aura’s began to spread out as they started to test one another.
Any that looked weak at this moment, the others might just make a move on them now save themselves the trouble later on. As all of this shit was happening and the tension was at its highest, the dome shook.
“Big brother, look, itsss moving.”
Everyone withdrew their aura as all eyes turned toward the dome. It indeed shook for a brief moment before vanishing. What was left in its wake surprised everyone there.
A tiny creature stood dead center where the dome had just stood. This tiny creature was slightly over 7 feet tall and was covered from head to toe in dark long hair that stretched all the way to the ground and then some. The creature’s eyes were rolled upward revealing the white part of the eye. Not only that, there was blood all over the face. Seeing this hairy creature covered in blood with a weird look, some wondered if it was a small ape creature that had lost its mind or something else. Either way, they found the situation bizarre.
However just as they began to wonder what kind of ape it was, the hair covering its body began to fall away, revealing a buff body beneath and a clear face. The face was the most shocking thing of all as it belonged to a human.
The Ancient beasts had no clue what to think at this moment. What was a tiny weak human doing all the way out here? Everyone knew about humans and knew they required land beneath them, not ice. Not only that but they could feel small amounts of Motozu’s energy surrounding him. Looking around his feet, the ancient beast saw large bones scattered around him that resembled the Motozu’s frame.
When they saw this their eyes widened even greater as they realized a possibility. However, to even consider this as fact left them in great denial. There was noway Motozu was already dead.
The rhino ape along with the rest of the ancient beast all waved toward themselves and with it, pieces of bones flew up and to them. Holding the actual bones in their hands they all knew right away that these were in fact from Motozu.
“Big brother, thesssse belong to Motosssu. I…I think Motossssu is…dead.”
Once the great snake said this, silence once more befell them.
A few moments later laughter broke out. At first from the rhino ape, and then everyone else started laughing as well. They had all come here with the intention to fight and kill Motozu but that didn’t mean it would be easy or without casualty. Many of them had prepared to lose something great and sacrifice but now all of that had disappeared. Motozu was dead and they would simply split all of the treasures, all without danger or fighting.
A joyful mood spread out and the atmosphere itself became bright.
Just as they were thinking about how to split things up, the eyes of Kazuki rolled forward and his mind was back. As his body grew stronger so to did his soul and with his soul improving so to did his aura. Even though the miniature black hole inside his soul world expanded more and more, he still managed to control it and seal it when after it had devoured all of the Motozu’s flesh.
The voice in his head faded into a whisper and he was back to normal or what he considered normal at least. Having your body grow at such a rapid rate along with your hair and other…things was becoming more of the norm for Kazuki.
Kazuki took notice of all of the ancient beasts around him but he didn’t really care about them nor was he terrified of being surrounded by such powerhouses. He was more interested in his newfound strength. After consuming all of the Motozu’s flesh with his devouring power, Kazuki could feel unbelievable power coursing through him. Kazuki slowly stood up and looked at the ancient beasts around him. Closing his hand into a fist, the air exploded as it was forced away from his hand creating a loud and audible
*BOOOOM*
The Ancient beasts were already looking at Kazuki and when he did that, many of them were taken aback and a few had a fleeting thought. A thought that was there for just an instant before they quickly pushed it out of their head but the thought still existed.
(Was it this small human that….)
The thought to them was too foolish to even take seriously and they aimed to let it flow on by as if it were a cloud in the sky, that is until the small human turned to them and spoke.
“So the bones worked. I didn’t think it would be good enough bait but it seems to have brought the strongest around. This will be the perfect time to test my newfound strength.”
