Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 45
The sight alone was unbelievable but Kazuki’s words, asking who’s next. These two simple words lit a flame inside each Ancient beast. The audacity, the gall of this tiny human.
Bloodlust began to leak out from all of them but none made the first move. Not due to fear but rather they still found the situation rather unbelievable. The four-winged bear beast Kazuki had just taken down was not a weakling yet Kazuki had leveled him in an instant.
Kazuki grew impatient watching the hesitation around him.
“If no one will make the first move, allow me then.”
Taking in a deep breath, Kazuki’s magic and ki circulated through his body before he vanished from his spot.
Dozens of afterimages allowed these beasts to catch glances of him but only a few could see his true movement.
The ice ground beneath his feet cracked and broke as he moved. As he flashed forward, he appeared in front of the hill-sized scorpion as fast as lightning. The scorpion wasn’t one to move slowly. Its pinchers grabbed Kazuki around the neck and waist and its tail shot forward.
A dangerous venom lingering on the point of its stinger, the beast purposefully aimed for Kazuki’s eye and pierced it in an instant. The stinger destroyed Kazuki’s eye and the venom entered his bloodstream. Kazuki though uttered not a single cry or scream. He allowed his eye to be stabbed and destroyed and let the venom flow inside of him. He could feel the venom inside of him. It was coated in dark magic and could easily kill all living things below the 5th stage for a hundred miles around. Unfortunately for the scorpion, this venom was nothing to Kazuki.
Even without using his ki to push the venom out of his body, Kazuki’s body naturally neutralized its effects before completely destroying it barely a moment after it had entered his body. His natural healing had evolved by leaps and bounds once more after eating the Motozu’s corpse with his Ourodyess devouring power. At this point, this Ancient beast’s venom was useless.
The scorpion could see that its venom had no effect whatsoever and was shocked. It immediately put strength in its pincers and tried to tear Kazuki’s body in two. It very quickly found that no matter how much strength it used, it couldn’t even leave a mark upon his tough human flesh.
Kazuki shook his head.
“Such weak venom will do nothing to me.”
The scorpion felt something was off. It had only felt this weird feeling once before. It was the feeling of death approaching. Its beastly instincts took over as soon as it felt this and it immediately released Kazuki before turning into a black mist and fleeing as far away as possible.
The scorpion’s retreating figure was incredibly fast and surprised not only Kazuki but the other Ancient beast as well.
Kazuki raised a single palm and created a spear of blue flame. With some strength in his arm, he threw the spear of fire and struck the black mist who was already dozens of miles away. The moment his blue spear of flames struck the black mist, the mist reformed into the large scorpion and a shrieking roar echoed out before the scorpion fell into the frozen ocean down below. No one knew whether the scorpion was alive or dead.
All were shocked by the speed of this flaming spear. It was faster than all of their movement techniques. Some questioned whether they could dodge such an attack. The situation turned upside down and the Ancient beasts no longer were looking down on the tiny human before them. In an instant, Kazuki had taken down two Ancient beasts. The laughter was no longer there and the joyful mood was replaced with fury.
“Still not coming forward, fine, I’ll turn things up a notch.”
These words barely fell when Kazuki disappeared from where he stood once more. At the same time, the rhino ape called out to everyone at once with the utmost seriousness.
“This isn’t a game! Everyone attack this human together!”
The other Ancient beast hearing the rhino apes call, no longer hesitated. They all could see that something was off and with his words, they all attacked at once.
After the four-winged bear and the scorpion, there were 13 other Ancient beasts gathered here. The moment the rhino ape spoke, all 13 moved at once.
Fourteen blurs moved around the icy ground and skies like flashes of lightning. At the same time, explosions resounded through the air continuously as they all collided for brief instances with Kazuki.
Kazuki was incredibly fast on the ground, not so much in the skies. Still, his movement was above all of theirs. Beams of energy came flying at Kazuki from all over. In response, Kazuki threw out spears of blue flame and spears of god metal.
Kazuki deflected some of the oncoming magic and dodged the rest. In in instant, he closed the gap with one of the beast and grabbed it around its neck.
*Squeeze Snap*
The creature’s neck broke and the ancient beast’s body went limp. Another beast flew at Kazuki from behind, its size was similar to Motozu’s. It intended to crush Kazuki with brute force alone. Kazuki took the ancient beast in his hand and covered it in a blanket of dark magic before tossing it behind him.
The mountain-sized Ancient beast snorted before batting the dead beast away with ease, however the moment the beast hit the dead body, the dead body exploded into a cloud of black mist and blinded the ancient beast briefly.
Kazuki flashed forward through the dark mist and flew up to the beast’s face. Swinging his fist like a godly hammer, he delivered a massive blow to the beast’s lower jaw.
*BOOOOOM!*
The force of this blow lifted the mountain-sized ancient beast off its feet and tossed it into the air.
Kazuki’s ring flashed and opened, sending hundreds upon hundreds of god metal spikes high into the air above the Ancient beast he just sent flying.
At the same time, the large snake opened a third eye atop its head, and a beam of dark energy came from below him.
Before the dark beam, even reached him, Kazuki could feel his flesh start to melt. In an instant his entire body was covered in god metal, still, he didn’t want to take this entire attack head on.
He flashed sideways and the beam of dark energy followed him like a heat-seeking missile. Kazuki smiled beneath his armor and flew directly behind one of the Ancient beasts. Once he did this, it was already too late for this creature. The dark beam from the snake continued following and struck the other ancient beast turning it into a puddle of meat in an instant. As its body was reduced to soup, Kazuki snatched away the magical beast orb and sealed it instantly before chucking it into his ring.
Kazuki increased the flames beneath his feet and accelerated upward and the dark beam continued to follow after him. Once again his ring flashed and several Motozu scales came out and formed a shield in front of him. The dark beam struck the reflective scales and reversed. The energy came raining down toward the frozen ice. Right after the beam reversed, Kazuki caught up with his spikes of god metal. In an instant, he threw out hundreds of punches and kicks and precisely hit the back end of the god spikes, sending them shooting downward like falling stars of death.
The mountain-sized Ancient beast had no time to move out of the way and fired bolts of lightning upward to try and destroy the spikes as they fell but this was god metal were talking about. Not only were they not destroyed, but the lightning heated them up greatly. When the spikes came down atop the Ancient beast, they sunk even further than they would have due to the heat.
A piercing cry echoed out in the skies above as hundreds of spikes entered deeply within the creature’s body. Once these spikes were in, it was game over for the beast. Using the same attack he had on Motozu, Kazuki split the spikes up from hundreds to thousands turning them into thin pieces of metal that circulated through the ancient beast body. In an instant, these thin shards of god metal shredded the beast’s brain and heart, turning them into a goopy mess and killing the Ancient beast before its heavy body even hit the ground.
The beam of dark energy still racing toward the ground was dodged by all except one unfortunate beast and it too was reduced to a puddle of meat soup.
Kazuki felt a torrent of wind racing at his back followed by blades of wind several miles long and several miles thick.
Kazuki turned and filled his hands with ki and used his strength.
*CLAPPPP!!!!*
He slapped his hands together with such an overwhelming amount of force that it sent a wall of air outward that met the opposing wind blade.
As the two forces of wind came together, a resounding explosion erupted and a tornado spun up for a brief few seconds until it dissipated into nothing. Kazuki’s simple clap had broken an Ancient beast wind attack.
This was no time to celebrate though. Kazuki could have simply allowed the wind blade to slash into him. With the armor covering his body, this attack would have done nothing to him. The reason though he did this instead of taking the attack with his armor is that the attack would have slowed him down. Being pushed around by the wind, he would have lost speed.
Kazuki changed course and dove down as fast as possible. He needed to dive as fast as possible so he could recover the two magical beast cores and seal them before the soul fragments inside self-destructed.
Like a demonic eagle racing towards its prey to feed, Kazuki extended his hand outward. An aura shot flying down even faster than he, it drilled into the mountain-sized creature’s body and ripped through its flesh reaching the magical beast core. Kazuki surrounded the core with his aura and snatched it upward, pulling it toward him like lightning. He sealed it and stored it.
Finally reaching the ground, Kazuki accelerated towards the beast that was reduced to meat soup.
(One more beast core to go!)
