Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 49

Kazuki had just gotten a rare Rukia fruit. Something that one can’t put a price tag on and just after he tucked it away in his storage ring, he was already inquiring about splitting Motozu’s treasures.

*Hehahaha*

Tozu chuckled hearing Kazuki greedily yet boldly talk about splitting the rewards.

“Before we even begin discussing such things, I think maybe we should take a look and see what exactly we’re dealing with. What say you Kazuki?”

“Right, there’s no point bringing things up when we don’t know what’s down there. Let’s go.”

Tozu and Sasai shared a look. A moment later, the two began to shrink down until they were around 10 or so feet tall.

Kazuki didn’t know the depths of an Ancient beast’s ability so this sight was new to him.

“You two can shrink down?”

Sasai flew forward in a huff.

“Of courssse we can change our sssize. If not we wouldn’t be Ancient beasssts now would we.”

After that Sasai took the lead and dove into the ice tunneling through it with ease.

“Sasai doesn’t like me does he?”

Tozu couldn’t argue that point.

“Sorry about my little brother. It took him over a thousand years to cultivate that Rukia fruit. The temptation to consume it before it’s ripe is one most can not handle, yet my brother endured not once but twice and in the end, it was given away to you. Even if he will benefit in the long run, to put so much time, energy, and effort into something just to give it away…It is a type of self-torment. So please understand It’s not a matter of him liking you or not but your appearance has cost him greatly. He’ll lighten up once he sinks his fangs into Motozu’s treasures. Shall we?”

Sasai drilled a deep tunnel into the ice leaving a hole that was a few miles deep. Jumping into it, it wasn’t long before the three plunged into the sub-zero temperature waters below.

Kazuki used wind aura to make a barrier of air around himself so he could breathe. Sasai watched this and smirked.

“Little human, you need ssso much air just for a little dive. I can tell you didn’t fight Motozu in the water then. Otherwissse, I doubt you could have killed it ssso easssy.”

“Brother!”

Kazuki stopped Tozu from reprimanding his younger brother and simply spoke the truth.

“Maybe your right but the fact remains I won in the end. Not only did I win but I did it when I was much weaker. Tell me, are you curious as to why the only thing left of Motozu were its scales and bones?”

Sasai went quiet as he really was curious. The battle between Kazuki and Motozu hadn’t lasted long and by the time he and the other Ancient beast found out about said battle and headed over a few days had passed. Sasai and Tozu were both curious as to what happened to Motozu’s actual body. Kazuki didn’t leave them in suspense for long and rubbed his stomach while licking his lips.

“It took a few days but I ate all of Motozu’s flesh and blood. Now its strength has been added to my own. I barely beat Motozu and had some luck on my side but after eating him, I do not lie when I say I could beat Motozu even if there were three of them and I could do it in less time than the first battle.”

Sasai heard this and his eyes went wide.

“Impossssible! You lie!”

Kazuki shrugged his shoulders.

“Believe me or don’t I don’t care all that much but if you wish to try your luck then try. Otherwise, stop with the pissy attitude, or else I’ll no longer take it as a soured fool who lost a precious fruit but instead as an invitation to fight to the death! Tozu has been more than fair and has agreed to this yet your resistant at every angle. Tell me, do you show your older brother no respect or am I that detestable?”

Sasai’s third eye began to open and dark energy gathered around his iris. At this point, Tozu sighed and simply moved a bit back and out of the way.

“Little brother, are you really going to humiliate me like this? You saw his strength before. Even if you can’t believe in his strength you can believe in mine. You witnessed it earlier. When he struck me with his blade it managed to pierce my flesh and only stopped when it reached my bone. You know how much strength and power one needs to penetrate my tough skin. Not only that have you already forgotten about the titan that observes him. It tried to make me fight him. It didn’t do it because it is enemies of Kazuki but rather it wished to see me die by Kazuki’s hand. If even a titan thinks I would die to Kazuki’s hand, do you honestly not trust its judgment. It took both you and me to match Motozu and we lost multiple times to it and only barely managed to escape with our lives. This young man though has slain it. Are you really his match little brother. If you really think so, then fight him but do not expect me to help.”

Sasai was surprised by his brother’s words but everything he said rang true.

“But brother I wasss only…

Tozu turned away from Sasai’s call.

Tozu had never turned his back on Sasai so to him this was a real blow. It didn’t take long after that to realize that he was in the wrong.

(If big brother isss thisss determined then there mussst be sssomething to it. He’sss never lied to me a ssingle time and he’ss alwaysss had my besst interesst at heart. If he believess, then that’sss good enough for me.)

The dark energy surrounding Sasai’s third eye vanished and he actually lowered his head.

“Brother, sssorry.”

Sasai looked at Kazuki but didn’t apologize. He said nothing more to the human. He didn’t like him but that didn’t mean he had to antagonize. For his older brother’s sake, he would simply shut his mouth and not interact with the human before him.

To Kazuki, the silence was fine. At least it was better than petty comments or insults. To him, this ignoring tactic of Sasai’s was music to his ears.

Sasai dove into the water and both Tozu and Kazuki dove after him.

The issue with air was not a problem with Sasai the great snake nor Tozu in the least. Kazuki as well had no problems at the start but as they went deeper and deeper, after reaching more than 10 miles in depth, Kazuki could feel his wind aura being crushed from the outside pressure. To solve this, though was easy enough. He simply folded his aura over top itself creating several layers of aura. Folding it into two layers reduced the pressure by half in an instant. After 12 layers, the outside pressure became almost nonexistent.

Aura was an incredible thing and Kazuki was glad that his aura could withstand this. At the same time, he was a little shocked. Using this same folding technique, making multiple layers he could barely resist Zetrazz’s aura breath that leaked from his cave. To be able to easily endure the very depths of the ocean yet feel like cotton in a hurricane when it came to just Zetrazz’s breath was something both scary and yet at the same time eye-opening.

Eventually, the three came across another tunnel. This time though it was not one of ice but one of rock that led into the inner parts of a dead volcano. Swimming several miles into it, the tunnel curved upward and into a hollowed-out cavern.

Coming into this cavern it was filled with air. Although the volcano itself was dead there were many vents connecting into this cave where fresh air bubbles constantly blew in. Where this air came from none of them knew, nor did they care.

They were all preoccupied with what lay in front of their eye. Elemental Water crystals and elemental wind crystals. All piled up as high as a mountain. Stretching into the distance, there were seven of these mountain-tall piles. It was now obvious the entire dead volcano was purposefully carved out so the Motozu could store all of this treasure here.

As soon as Sasai saw this, his eyes went as wide as saucers and he dove directly into the mountain of crystals. To dive into something that was as hard as rocks was interesting, to say the least. Kazuki wasn’t too distracted by this as he had witnessed Sasai drill through the thick dense ice moments before and that was harder than steel.

Kazuki was more interested in the other piles of crystal as well as a mountain of nothing but Motozu scales.

(That creature really shed this many scales.)

The effect that these scales have made them many times more valuable than the elemental crystals. Kazuki already knew how much of a greed hog he was but when he saw all of the scales just lying about as if they were little bluish-green jewels, he couldn’t help but breathe a little harder and gulp in anticipation.

All of this wealth laying about here was more than all the wealth Glacious had piled up in his tiny world. Just taking a small fraction of this and Kazuki would easily be the richest human in the entire world.

Picking up a pile of scales, Kazuki couldn’t help but throw them over his head and shout.

“I’M SO FUCKING RICH!”
