Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 55
After introductions, Shaila wrapped her arm around Tozu’s and led the way to a grand hall.
Sitting down, again Kazuki was surrounded by many stares from both powerful beasts and human servants alike. They couldn’t understand how or why a human was sitting at a table as an equal with their masters.
Serving a few drinks and some simple food, the servants and other beasts were all taken aback and left stupified as Tozu explained who Kazuki was and the circumstances Tozu and the rest were now a part of. After hearing that Kazuki had defeated Motozu one of the strongest beasts if not the strongest in the north, they were already left awed. Had their master not said it personally they would never in a million years have believed such a tall tale.
Shaila as well. Listening to her husband’s story was something difficult to believe but it was her husband who said it so she had no doubt whatsoever.
These few things were alone shocking but the final blow came when Tozu said both he and Sasai had decided to join Kazuki, at least until their mutual enemies were destroyed.
Shaila’s look changed entirely. She no longer looked at Kazuki with suspicion but instead curiosity.
“I was wondering why you had returned so soon husband. I thought something terrible may have befallen you or Sasai and I was regretting staying here to watch over things but hearing this, it seems there is both a boon as well as the edge of a cliff. After Motozu’s defeat, along with the other Ancient beast, the balance of power will have shifted greatly. The south and east won’t allow only a handful of we Ancient beast to rule over all of the north. All of the resources to be left to us. No doubt our powers could grow rapidly without competition. They will see us as a threat once they learn of all of this and seek us out to slay us.”
Tozu grabbed his wife’s shaky hand.
“Dear, there was nothing that could have been done. I know you are afraid but we must follow Kazuki. With Glacious as well as Etora the platinum wolf behind him, we actually stand a good chance.”
Shaila shook her head and smirked.
“I’m not shaking because of fear, rather I’m excited. This is an opportunity one only sees once in a lifetime. With Motozu dead, this makes us three the strongest Ancient beast in the northern ocean. Not only that, this human called Kazuki since he defeated Motozu, his strength is obvious and he is our ally. On top of that, he is connected to the dragon slayer and the glutton pup. In a single moment, the whole power dynamic of the Feya continent and its waters have shifted in an instant. As long as we get beneath Glacious’s umbrella of protection, we will have a great chance of rolling over both the south and east. This could change everything. Husband, the wind is in our favor.”
Tozu sighed inwardly before looking at Kazuki with an expression that said I give up.
“Kazuki, this is how my wife is, sorry about that.”
Shaila punched Tozu in the arm hard.
“Hmph, why are you apologizing for me like I’m a problem? Would you rather me screech my head off like a broken banshee in fear? Our situation is clear and it is not hopeless. Though the problems this brings is very problematic.”
*Heheha*
“Brother, even now you can never win againssst your woman.”
Tozu glared at Sasai while Shaila smirked and said teasingly.
“At least he has a woman. What about you though little snake. I can’t ever remember seeing you with a lady. Could be your thing curves the other way?”
A slight blush of both anger and embarrassment rushed to Sasai’s cheeks.
“Damn you, venomussss woman. My thing doesss not curve or whatever you’re implying. I jussst have been busssy. I will find a mate when I am ready and not before.”
Shaila chuckled.
*Heh*
“Is that what you’re sticking with? The fact that you say mate and not partner is already negative. This is why men are so dumb. Are you sure it’s not because the thought of a woman terrifies you? Understandable, we women love to crush little snakes beneath us. Don’t be scared though little brother, I’ll be sure to find you a good woman, just say the word.”
“Dammit sissss, leave me be. Nothing terrifies me, essspecially not some woman.”
Shaila focused in on Sasai.
“Oh really. If women don’t scare you, why don’t you have a duel with me? I promise not to crush you too badly.”
Sasai went dead silent and his face paled a bit, he stared at Tozu pleading for help and Tozu came through.
“Dear, that’s more than enough. You know how my little brother gets when it comes to… Anyway, stop your insistent teasing. You know Sasai is much weaker than you. Why are you always trying to bully him?”
Shaila shrugged her shoulders before ignoring both Sasai and her husband Tozu. Turning her attention to Kazuki she wondered.
“What about you Kazuki. Is there a woman in your life or do you share Sasai’s phobia of the opposite sex?”
A small smile spread across his face as two faces appeared in his head.
“There is.”
Shaila and the others became curious. They all still knew very little about Kazuki and the reverse was true.
“What’s her name, is she strong like you as well? If so I see our chances only climbing to the heavens.”
Kazuki shook his head.
“They are both strong but from last, I saw they were both around the 3rd and 4th stage.”
Shaila was slightly disappointed that the ladies were weak but hearing there were two women, she found this to be juicy. It wasn’t strange for a strong man to have multiple women but most of the time they would merely be lovers or playthings. The way Kazuki’s face lit up when he said two though, it led her to believe that his affection for the two was more than just side pieces.
“Two women, Kazuki you’re not playing with their little innocent hearts are you?”
Kazuki firmly shook his head.
“They mean far too much to me. To me they are irreplaceable.”
Sasai looked at Kazuki differently. He had for some reason assumed Kazuki had no one like he and found brotherhood in this. Knowing Kazuki had not only one woman but two, a sense of betrayal was felt. At the same time, a sense of respect was grew.
(For thisss human to be able to handle not only one woman but a second. his nervesss mussst be akin to adamantium.)
“One is called Asuna, and the other is Nunully.”
Just saying their names out in the open brought a comforting feeling.
Shaila saw the glowing look coming from Kazuki and nudged Tozu in the ribs.
“Why can’t you have such a look when you call out my name?”
Tozu had no idea how to respond to that.
Shaila teasingly poked him in his cheek.
“I’m only messing with you dear. Though I wouldn’t mind you calling out to me every once and again.”
—————————————————————————-
After some time the discussion became serious once more and Kazuki had some not-so-good news to break to them. He told them about Fera and the role she was actively playing in the war. The war itself didn’t interest them in the least but they understood that Glacious was on the frontlines in constant battle with Kazuki’s sister. He hadn’t mentioned it before but felt it was way too important to not mention. Especially since they were now allies. This was not something one should hide.
After hearing that things would become even more difficult before anything had even been set off was definitely a blow but the three took it well, Tozu especially. Kazuki coming forward with this brought a little more trust to the table.
The news wasn’t all bad. Kazuki told the three about the weapon he was having made and that this very weapon was the reason he had sought out Motozu in the first place. Once he explained what the weapon could do, a bright spot shone once again.
“I only came here to pick up some gold. After that, I think the next course of action should be heading back to Edngaul and finishing the weapon. Once the weapon is complete we should all head to the battlefield. I think this will be the best place for our enemies to come for us.”
Shaila wondered out loud.
“Why the battlefield? Wouldn’t it be better to find someplace to ambush our enemies?”
“That’s what makes the frontlines the best place. The Azirian’s will be attacking us and we’ll be ready for it but they will also attack the other Ancient beast who isn’t ready.”
“Kazuki you may be handsome but is that brain of yours working? How is this an advantage for us? Azirian’s are like ants. They are nothing to us.”
“That’s where you’re wrong. In small numbers Azirian’s may be able to do nothing to us but when they start to gather in the 10’s of thousands they can fuse together. Their strength and speed climb drastically. They may still not equal us physically but let your guard down and they will pierce your skull. Not only do they constantly regenerate, but the only way to kill them completely is to thoroughly destroy their heads. You remove a limb, they still come forward, you decapitate them they still come forth. Individually they are nothing, group them up, they are a tidal wave of death. This knowledge alone will help us but more than that, they don’t know that Glacious is on our side, well not that he knows that either at the moment.”
The gears were turning and the three now saw the potential of fighting around such a battlefield.
