Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 61

After a fresh start, both Sid and Sasai cooled their heads. When Sasai saw that even his own brother would not have his back if things fell apart he decided it would be much better to let things go. It wasn’t worth getting mad at a small weak old human over mere words.

Sid as well, after learning that these three foreigners in his shop were in actual fact Ancient beasts, he felt absolute dread. Only knowing that they were allies of Kazuki was he able to calm down and see them in a more friendly manner.

Still, there was a bit of an awkward atmosphere now. Shaila though quickly put a stop to that.

“Old Sid was it? You said I can inspect any of these items right?”

Sid smiled at this tall beauty. Even though she was an Ancient beast, in human form she was more than easy on the eye.

“Yes and don’t worry if you break something, Kazuki will cover it, right Kazuki?”

Kazuki shrugged.

“I don’t mind but Shaila whatever I end up owing the old man, you’ll end up owing me in return, got it?”

*Hehe*

“Kazuki you know I have no money, do tell what I should pay you with, you couldn’t possibly mean…”

Shaila looked herself up and down as if she was truly afraid.

This, in turn, caused Kazuki’s gaze to shift away and wouldn’t you know it his gaze met Tozu’s who was now glaring at him.

(These two have a weird play between them. Shaila likes the attention but she likes Tozu being jealous more than anything. This type of woman is one of the most dangerous. I best stay away from her before Tozu misunderstands.)

“I was thinking more about the elemental crystals you keep in your ring. There’s not too many places where you can exchange them for money but give me some of them and I’ll gladly hand over some gold Zeni, then you can break whatever you want and you can pay for it yourself.”

Shaila’s eyes shined.

“Really?”

“Why not, it’s better like this. That way you won’t have to come to me every time you want to buy something, you can just purchase it yourself. The same goes for you two. I’ll be fair with the exchange rates.”

Shaila quickly opened her storage ring and a pile of elemental crystals several feet tall fell out onto the floor.

Tozu and Sasai as well decided to trade crystals for Zeni. It made sense. Besides after having the strange but delicious food and alcohol, they wanted to buy a lot and bring it back home with them.

The amount was a lot to trade but thankfully Kazuki had Tilly’s ring. Tilly had amassed a considerable fortune and had tons of gold. This fortune, Kazuki would have gladly given to Tilly’s rightful heir Jool but after meeting him, Kazuki realized how much of an asshole he was and basically said fuck it. He kept all of the contents of her ring and even ripped her mansion from the ground and stored that inside his Orichalcum ring as well.

After trading all of this gold for elemental crystals, Shaila didn’t hesitate to start grabbing things from the nearby shelves. Anything and everything that her eye fancied. At the same time, Sid was more than happy to describe each and everything she picked up.

“That one can dry your hair when it’s wet and that one can shrink inanimate objects to a fourth of their original size. Oh, that one can draw whatever image comes to one’s mind and that one can trap small creatures within a certain range.”

Shaila didn’t really need any of these things. Most of the functions she could do herself or had a servant that could do something similar. Still, she didn’t care and bought whatever was interesting. A few things were unexpected though and she gladly bought those items as well. In the end, Shaila spent nearly a hundred thousand gold Zeni in a mere hour.

Tozu and Sasai were more conservative and bought just a few items but this was only because they feared if they spent too much here they wouldn’t have enough for tasty food and lip-smacking alcohol that tickled the senses.

As they all followed after Shaila, she eventually came upon a door far in the back. As soon as the three Ancient beasts came near, Tozu and Sasai both smelled something familiar.

“Kazuki, why does that backroom have a scent similar to that blade you used during our fight?”

Sid’s brow rose.

“Similar to the blade Kazuki used. Are you referring to the god metal?”

When Sid said this, Tozu and Sasai’s eyes widened.

“No wonder your blade could cut me to the bone Kazuki. I was surprised when you sliced into my flesh but if it was orichalcum then it makes sense.”

It was Sid’s turning to be surprised. He looked at the bald-headed Tozu but saw no wounds upon his exposed flesh.

“Tozu, are you saying that young Kazuki here took a blade of god metal to your skin but only managed to get to your bone. Just how tough are you Ancient beast?”

Tozu shrugged.

“My skin is stronger than most metal but it couldn’t hold up for even a second when it came to Kazuki’s slash with that god metal. My bones however are a different story entirely. It was lucky though that it was me that Kazuki struck with his blade. If it had been my brother Sasai here, he would have been divided into two pieces in an instant.”

Sasai rolled his eyes but he didn’t refute it.

Sid looked at Shaila.

“Miss, what about you?”

Shaila shrugged.

“Whether it can cut me or not, I don’t know but the real question is, can his blade even touch me.”

“What does that mean?”

Shaila smirked this time.

“Kazuki is incredible in many aspects but I’ve seen his movements, I don’t think he’d be able to catch me, and if he can’t catch me, he most certainly can’t cut me. No offense Kazuki.”

Kazuki smiled.

“None taken.”

The speed she was referring to was when he was flying back to Edngaul. What she didn’t know was that was not Kazuki’s top speed not even close. First, he’s much faster traveling on foot instead of using magic fire beneath his feet to accelerate, Secondly, when he uses his strengthing aura, his speed gets a terrifying boost. When he adds ki to the mix, his speed enters a whole other realm. Shaila had yet to witness just how truly fast Kazuki was.

Sid opened the back room and walked in. A large brown tarp covered a tall wide object.

The three Ancient beasts could smell the special metal beneath the tarp. Again it was Shaila’s curiosity that broke the silence.

“The smell is coming from beneath that thing. Sid, have you been hiding the best treasure this entire time.”

Sid didn’t deny it.

“This is the main piece I’ve been working on for Kazuki. Your not wrong though, this is the greatest thing I’ve ever built and it is a near-masterpiece in my opinion but instead of me stroking myself off, why don’t you all see it for yourself.”

Sid grabbed the tarp from one end and gave it a hard yank.

*Schwip*

The tarp fell on the ground and revealed a 9-foot behemoth of bulking mass. A large human-shaped frame made of god metal. The Ancient beast and Kazuki all took a step back. Kazuki used his aura to inspect the large body and found hundreds of thousands of inscriptions running through this body. Linked together likes tiny chains made up the nervous system so to speak. Using these pathways, the limbs would move when powered by magic, and with it, destruction would follow.

“This is my greatest creation. This is a Golem. Not only is this something thought to be long lost to all civilization but the material it’s made from makes it even rarer. Is it not a thing of beauty.”

A small tear formed at the edge of Sid’s eye before he quickly wiped it away but Kazuki understood this. The man dedicated his life to his craft and at such an old age, he was able to make something thought to be lost to all of humanity. This was something truly special.

Kazuki slowly walked over and placed a hand on the chest of this large metal body.

“Old man, you actually did it!”

Sid shook his head.

“We did it. Without the material and plans you shared, I would never have been able to make this. This credit, I share a third of it with you gladly.”

Kazuki tilted his head slightly.

“A third?”

Sid nodded as he explained.

“You get credit for the materials I get credit for the build and Tilly gets credit for the blueprints. If she wasn’t brave enough to steal from a dragon, none of this would have come together. Her death, it truly wasn’t in vain.”
