Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 66
Danny was shocked by what he experienced. Stretching his aura outward, it spread outside of Kazuki’s soul world, outside of his very body, and into the room where Kazuki and Sid were.
Before, Danny could see and hear everything Kazuki did from the soul world. Because of this, he and Kai were able to observe Kazuki and his surroundings. Right now though things were different. Using his aura, Danny could not only see and hear Kazuki’s environment but he could physically feel it as well.
Even without a physical body, his aura allowed him to feel the sensation of touch but it didn’t stop there. His aura also allowed him to smell all around him and taste as well. He could feel the sensation of heat as well as cold depending on how he controlled his aura.
He extended his aura toward a shelf against a wall and grabbed a small vase.
At first his aura passed right through the object but after focusing and using the experiences and memories Kazuki shared with him, Danny was able to pick the vase up. He could feel it as though it were in his grip. There was weight to this object, small albeit but Danny could explore this object’s physicality with his aura.
“How strange. Kazuki does aura always feel like this?”
“Like what?”
“It’s as if I’m really holding this vase even though it is just an extension or manifestation of my soul. It feels cool to the touch and is…fragile.”
“In the beginning, for me, no. At first, it was like an extension of my mind. Only after training for a while did it become like an extension of my limbs and other senses. It was like an odd pressure around me. Like when you take two magnets and try and push the same forces against each other. There’s a sort of invisible push between them, separating them. It’s not something you can see but you can feel it, you know it’s there. Only after training for a while and learning from Oren did my aura evolve. You basically skipped all the training and arrived at where I am now. Sharing my skills, experiences, and memories is quite an amazing thing. It’s like you went from lvl 1 to 100 in a split second.”
Danny now realized why everything felt so familiar. If he really did start from scratch it would have taken years just to be able to feel sensation with his aura but with Kazuki sharing, Danny’s aura was able to catch up to Kazuki’s in a fraction of the time.
Sid was still floating casually in the tub of cold water but when he saw his vase on the shelf start floating around and Kazuki just sitting there with his eyes closed, he wondered if a ghost had come to haunt him, and he sank his head underwater hoping to avoid this poltergeist.
“Now comes the next part. Danny, are you still sure you wish to be fused to the Magic core?”
Danny nodded.
“I’ve never been more sure. I’m tired of being in here. Even if I’m to be inside a doll, it’s 1000 times greater than being in this neverending nothingness…No offense to your soul world.”
“None taken I guess.”
Kazuki looked around at his soul world.
(Is it really that bad to be here?)
It only took a second for this thought to sink in for Kazuki to feel like an idiot.
(Of course, it would suck. Being in one place for hundreds of years, with only one person to talk to. Nearly all of your senses are gone and your just a floating shell of your former self. I’d want to leave this place as quickly as possible as well.)
The next step was much simpler, well for Kazuki and the others that were the case. For others, though this would prove a challenge without the knowledge. Kai though had been in Kazuki’s soul world for over a thousand years. Ten had passed in the outside world while a thousand or so had passed inside.
Kai grabbed a branch from Kazuki’s soul tree and proceeded to break it off before tossing it to Danny.
“Transfer some of your aura to that branch. There will be a small amount of resistance within but simply push it all out.”
Danny did exactly that. Concentrating on the branch in his hand, he sent his aura inside and pushed some energy out. The moment that energy came out of the branch it shot forward and dove back into Kazuki’s soul tree.
Kazuki and Danny had no idea what just happened.
“You two look like idiots. Can you really not figure it out. That energy was simply some of Kazuki’s soul rejoining his soul tree. Now that your aura is inside of that branch, and Kazuki’s energy was pushed out of it, that branch is now yours Danny. That will be your new soul tree. That will fuse with the Magic core. Now Danny all you need to do now is cover that branch entirely with aura and send it out of Kazuki’s soul world, out of his body, and into the Magic core in Kazuki’s hand. Once you do that, that branch will naturally take root in the magic core and that will be your very own soul world.”
Danny looked at the small branch in his hand and he didn’t know what to say.
“Brother, is it really that simple?”
“Of course little dummy. I said it right?”
Kazuki and Kai both stared at Danny who still had yet to make a move.
“Oi, what are you waiting for Danny? A moment ago you couldn’t wait to escape this place and now you’re standing around like that branch was just up your ass.”
Danny snapped out of it.
“Your right. I just had a strange thought. I’ve been in here for so long, this place was almost like a second home. Out there, I was killed so easily and for what seemed like nothing. Inside here though, I’ve simply been a voice of reason for Kazuki but somehow that was satisfying in a way. It feels like once I leave…I don’t know, I thought my fears were gone after death but now that this is becoming a reality…”
Kai slapped Danny hard on the back.
*Wham*
“Why are you being a bitch. Fear this and fear that. Outside of here more than fear, there’s freedom. You will be able to experience the world once more and will be the envy of all those who died before you. I know I’m envious. As for being a voice of reason, how would that change. Instead of being in Kazuki’s soul world, you’ll be right by his side. As a matter of fact, he might hear your voice a little too much from now on. Don’t fret the bullshit. Just go out there and do what you want and live.”
Danny turned to Kai, an expression of anger on his face but it quickly became an endearing smile. Danny slapped Kai on the back as well and because Kai’s soul form was so small in there he went flying.
“Thanks, Kai…I’ll miss you.”
Kai’s shoulders shuddered.
“Don’t say that you’re creeping me out, man.”
Danny said nothing else and simply gave a small nod. The very next moment, his aura swept forth and jumped out of Kazuki’s soul world, then out of his body before drilling into the depths of the new Magic core. The moment he entered the Magic core, the core began to glow with a greenish-blue light before flickering to a silverish color and back again.
“Kazuki what are you waiting for. Hurry up and put Danny in his new body. I’m gonna laugh when he realizes he doesn’t have a cock attached to that lump of metal he’ll have as a body.”
Kazuki and Kai both laughed before Kazuki’s left his soul world and returned. The moment he left, the joyful smile on Kai’s face vanished and was replaced with a sad one. All the happiness, all the laughter, and teasing were now filled with absolute emptiness.
“I wasn’t lying Danny, I really do envy you.”
Walking over to Kazuki’s soul tree, Kai slowly slumped down against it. He looked at his hand, still small and still flickering, becoming transparent one second and solid the next. Looking through his flickering hand, he could see the clouds through it. As they slowly floated by a gut-wrenching feeling twisted inside of him as he spoke in defeat.
“Once again…I’m all alone.”

*Crash*
Kazuki opened his eyes and off to the side of the room, a vase fell onto the ground and shattered.
(Danny probably should have put that back before he left my soul world.)
Just as he stood up, Sid came shooting up and out of the water.
*Puhaaa*
“Kazuki, what was that?”
“That, oh that was just aura. Sorry about the Vase, I’ll fix it. More importantly, I have the soul. The Magic core is truly complete now.”
Sid was confused.
“What, that fast. You literally just sat down for a few seconds. How could you have time to get a soul?”
Kazuki shrugged. He didn’t feel like explaining it.
“It doesn’t matter. Instead, take a look at this.”
Kazuki showed old Sid the Magic core that continued to glow in his hand and Sid slowly reached forward like a man possessed. Kazuki pulled his hand back before you drool over it, don’t you think we should see if it works first.
Sid snapped out of it and laughed it off.
“Hehehe, right right right. What are we waiting for Kazuki, let’s do this!”
